## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## GBP Competitor Teardown + Maps Spam Hunter

**$2 per teardown. Optional spam evidence packs: $5 each (off by default, capped by maxSpamPacks).**

One run tears down the whole Google Maps pack for a keyword and city, shows your client exactly why the top 3 win, and builds the evidence pack to report spam listings.

### What does GBP Competitor Teardown + Maps Spam Hunter do?

Map Pack teardown: categories, review velocity and revenue estimate, photos, posts, attributes, city pages, citations, Ads Transparency, gap report vs the top 3, and spam evidence packs.

### Who is it for?

Local SEO agencies, GBP managers, and AI/marketing agencies selling to home-service and local businesses.

### How it works

1. Pulls every listing in the Maps pack for your keyword and city, with recent reviews.
2. Reads primary and secondary categories, rating, review velocity (30 and 90 days), owner response rate, photos, posts, attributes and hours.
3. Estimates monthly jobs and revenue from review velocity (reviews x 10 jobs per review x average ticket).
4. Counts city and service-area pages from each website's sitemap, and adds one-click links for citation checks by phone, Google Ads Transparency and the state business registry.
5. Compares your client to the top 3 and writes the gap report and a numbered action plan (white-label HTML ready to print to PDF).
6. Flags spam: keyword-stuffed names, virtual offices and coworking addresses, lead-gen sites, review bursts, and listings sharing a phone, site or building, then writes the 'Suggest an edit' / Redressal complaint for each.

### How much does it cost?

| Event | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Map Pack teardown | $2.00 | One full teardown report for a keyword + city (up to 20 listings), with gap report and action plan. |
| Spam evidence pack | $5.00 | One spam listing with evidence and ready-to-file complaint text. Only when includeSpamPacks is on. |

The Google Maps scrape runs on your Apify account (about $0.10 for 10 listings with 25 reviews each). Every sub-run gets a hard spend cap (`maxUpstreamSpendUsd`), and you can set a maximum charge per run in the Console.

### Sample output (live run, Richmond, VA)

| position | name | reviewsLast30d | estMonthlyRevenue | cityPages | spamLevel | spamFlags | gaps |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | Davis & Green Services | 25 | 112,500 | 321 |  |  |  |
| 11 | Shogun Services | 9 | 40,500 |  |  | virtual_office (coworking) |  |
| 2 | The Very Good Plumbing Co. |  |  |  |  | shared_address with MASTER and SONS PLUMBING |  |
| 12 | Advanced Plumbing, LLC (target) |  |  |  |  |  | missing 3 categories, 74 fewer photos, no posts, 0 city pages vs 9 |

### Input example

```json
{
  "keyword": "plumber",
  "location": "Richmond, VA"
}
```

### Output

- Dataset: one row per result (table view in the Console, or JSON/CSV/Excel via API).
- Key-value store `REPORT_MD`: Teardown report (Markdown)
- Key-value store `REPORT_HTML`: White-label report (HTML, print to PDF)
- Key-value store `REPORT_JSON`: Full report JSON
- Key-value store `SPAM_EVIDENCE_MD`: Spam evidence packs

### Why this instead of a plain scraper?

GMB Everywhere ($30/mo, 300K users) audits one listing at a time inside Chrome. acebuilds/gbp-auditor and gbp-completeness-audit score a single profile. None compare the whole pack, estimate revenue from review velocity, count city pages, or build spam evidence packs.

### Use it from n8n, Make, GoHighLevel, Claude or Cursor

- n8n or Make: add an HTTP Request step that POSTs your input JSON to the API endpoint below and returns the dataset items.
- MCP: add `https://mcp.apify.com/?actors=growth-installations/gbp-teardown-spam-hunter` to Claude, Cursor or any MCP client.
- API: `POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/growth-installations~gbp-teardown-spam-hunter/run-sync-get-dataset-items` with header `Authorization: Bearer <your Apify API token>`

### FAQ

**Do I need my own API keys?** No. Only your Apify account.

**What does a run cost in total?** $2 per teardown, plus any spam packs you turn on, plus the Maps scrape on your account (about $0.10 for 10 listings). Set a max charge per run to cap it.

**Can I bring my own data?** Yes. Paste JSON into the "Bring your own" field and the scrape is skipped.

**Is the data public?** Everything comes from public listings, postings and pages.

# Actor input Schema

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

What customers search, e.g. 'plumber'.

## `location` (type: `string`):

City and state (or city and country) of the Map Pack to analyze, e.g. 'Richmond, VA' or 'Austin, TX'.

## `target` (type: `string`):

Business name, website, placeId or Google Maps URL. Leave empty for prospect mode (a pitch line for every non-leader).

## `maxPlaces` (type: `integer`):

How many Map Pack listings to pull and compare (3-20). More listings give a fuller competitor picture and cost a little more in Maps scraping.

## `maxReviews` (type: `integer`):

Newest reviews to read per listing. Used for 30/90-day review velocity, owner response rate, the revenue estimate and review-burst spam checks. 0 skips reviews.

## `avgTicket` (type: `number`):

Optional. Defaults by niche (plumber $400, roofer $9,000, HVAC $450...).

## `checkSitemaps` (type: `boolean`):

Read each competitor website's sitemap and count city and service-area pages. Turn off for a faster run if you don't need the city-page gap.

## `brandName` (type: `string`):

Shown in the header and footer of the HTML and Markdown reports so you can hand them to clients as your own. Leave empty for an unbranded report.

## `includeSpamPacks` (type: `boolean`):

When on, every listing flagged as likely spam gets an evidence pack with ready-to-file 'Suggest an edit' and Redressal complaint text. Charged $5 per pack, up to 'Max spam packs'.

## `maxSpamPacks` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit on spam evidence packs per run, so the spam-pack charge never exceeds this number x $5. Only used when spam packs are on.

## `placesDataset` (type: `array`):

Optional compass/crawler-google-places items. Skips the scrape.

## `maxUpstreamSpendUsd` (type: `number`):

Hard spending cap passed to the Google Maps scraper sub-run on your Apify account. The run stops scraping at this amount. About $0.10 covers 10 listings with 25 reviews. Minimum $0.50 (the lowest cap Apify accepts for the scraper sub-run).
