## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## 📍 Google Maps Local Business Leads & Places Scraper

Type a search like **"Plumbers in Austin"** or **"Dental Clinics in Delhi"** and get a clean lead list of every business Google Maps shows: **name, category, full address, city, phone number, website, star rating, review count, latitude / longitude, opening hours and Google Place ID**.

⚡ **No browser, no login, no coding.** The Actor reads Google Maps' own lightweight data feed instead of rendering pages in Chrome, so it is fast and cheap to run — 20 places per request, a few seconds per page.

***

### 🎯 Who is this Google Maps scraper for?

| You are... | Use it to... |
|---|---|
| 📣 **Digital marketing agency** | Build prospect lists of local businesses with no website, low ratings or few reviews — perfect pitches for web design, SEO and review management. |
| 💼 **B2B sales team / SDR** | Pull phone numbers and websites of every clinic, contractor, gym or restaurant in a city for cold calling and cold email. |
| 🔎 **Local SEO consultant** | Audit the Google Maps "local pack" for any keyword: who ranks, at what position (`rank`), with what rating and review count. |
| 🗂️ **CRM / data supplier** | Enrich and de-duplicate business databases with stable Google **Place IDs** and geo-coordinates. |
| 🏪 **Franchise / expansion analyst** | Map competitor density by neighbourhood using latitude / longitude. |

***

### ✅ What data do you get?

One row per place, de-duplicated by Google Place ID:

- 🏷️ **Business name** and **primary category** (+ all secondary categories)
- 📫 **Full address** split into street, neighbourhood, **city**, postal code, state and country code
- 📞 **Phone** in international format (`+91 98111 06377`), local format and digits-only (ready for CRMs / WhatsApp)
- 🌐 **Website** (tracking `utm_` parameters stripped) and its **domain** — plug it straight into an email finder
- ⭐ **Rating** and **review count**
- 🗺️ **Latitude / longitude**, **Google Maps URL**, **Place ID** and **CID**
- 🕒 **Open status** at scrape time (`Open · Closes 9 pm`) and **weekly opening hours**
- 🔢 **Search term** and **rank** (position in Google Maps results)

***

### 🚀 How to use it

1. Click **Try for free**.
2. Add one or more **Search Terms** — always "category + location", e.g. `Real Estate Agency in Dubai Marina`.
3. Set **Max Places to Extract**.
4. Click **Start** and download your leads as **Excel, CSV, JSON or Google Sheets**.

#### Input configuration

| Field | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| `searchTerms` | List of Google Maps searches. | `["Plumbers in Austin", "Electricians in Austin"]` |
| `startUrls` | Optional Google Maps search URLs copied from your browser. | `https://www.google.com/maps/search/gyms+in+pune/` |
| `maxItems` | Total unique places to save across all searches (1–5000). | `200` |
| `proxyConfiguration` | Apify Proxy settings. The default works; switch to RESIDENTIAL only if you see blocks. | `{ "useApifyProxy": true }` |

**Example input**

```json
{
    "searchTerms": ["Dental Clinics in Delhi", "Dental Clinics in Noida"],
    "maxItems": 300
}
```

💡 **Tip for big lists:** Google Maps itself shows roughly 120–200 places per search. To collect thousands of leads, split by neighbourhood or nearby towns (`Dentist in Rohini Delhi`, `Dentist in Dwarka Delhi`, ...). Duplicates across searches are removed automatically.

### ❓ FAQ

**Does it need a Google account or API key?** No. It reads the public Google Maps search results, the same data anyone sees without logging in.

**Why is it cheaper than browser-based Google Maps scrapers?** It skips Chrome entirely and requests Google Maps' compact search data directly, so 512 MB of memory is enough and runs finish in seconds.

**Are emails included?** Google Maps does not publish emails. Use the `website` / `domain` columns with an email finder or a website contact scraper.

**Why do some rows have no address or city?** Service-area businesses (plumbers, electricians, movers, home-cleaning services...) choose to hide their street address on Google Maps. For them Google publishes no address, so `address` / `city` are empty — but name, phone, website, rating, coordinates and Place ID are still returned.

**Does it work worldwide?** Yes — any country and any language of business names. Just write the location in the search term.

**Is scraping Google Maps legal?** The Actor only collects publicly available business listing data. You are responsible for using it in line with applicable laws (GDPR, CAN-SPAM, India's DPDP Act) and for honouring opt-outs in your outreach.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Category + City searches (e.g. 'Plumbers in Austin', 'Dental Clinics in Delhi', 'Italian Restaurants in London')

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Paste Google Maps search URLs copied from your browser, e.g. https://www.google.com/maps/search/plumbers+in+austin/@30.26,-97.74,12z. The search text in the URL is scraped like a Search Term.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of unique places saved across all searches. Google Maps shows roughly 120-200 places per search, so use several specific searches (e.g. per neighbourhood) for bigger lists.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy rotates IPs automatically. If Google blocks a request, the actor retries on a new IP.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchTerms": [
    "Dental Clinics in Delhi"
  ],
  "maxItems": 30,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `dataset` (type: `string`):

One row per Google Maps place: name, category, address, city, phone, website, rating, reviews, coordinates, opening hours and Place ID.
