## Domain RDAP Lookup

Registration date, expiry, registrar, nameservers and DNS provider for any domain, taken
from the registries themselves.

### Why this is not a WHOIS scraper

RDAP is what replaced WHOIS. It is structured JSON, it is official, and it needs no key. The
awkward part is that there is no single endpoint: every top level domain is served by its own
registry, and you have to know which. This Actor loads IANA's own map and routes each domain
to the registry that owns it.

### What you get

`registeredAt`, `expiresAt`, `updatedAt`, the registrar name, the status flags, the
nameservers, and `dnsProvider`, which is the nameserver suffix. That last one is usually
the answer people actually wanted: whether a company is on Cloudflare, on AWS, or running
its own.

`updatedAt` is the last real change to the record. Registries also publish a "last update of
RDAP database" timestamp that changes every time you look, and this Actor does not report
that as a change, because it is not one.

### Two answers that are not errors

**A domain nobody owns** comes back as a row with `registered` set to false. That is a real
answer and it is what makes this usable for checking availability across a list.

**A top level domain with no RDAP server** is reported by name in the run summary. This is
not a rare edge: measured 2026-08-29, IANA lists 1,200 top level domains with a server, and
`.io` and `.de` are not among them. Nobody can look those up this way, and a tool that
silently returns nothing for them is telling you the domain is free when it is not.

### Notes

The same domain twice in a pasted list is looked up and billed once. Five lookups run in
parallel by default, which is polite to registries that are often small operations.

### Access

Free and no key. The IANA map is fetched once per run.

## `includeUnregistered` (type: `boolean`):

A domain nobody owns comes back as a row with registered set to false. Turn this off to keep only registered ones.

Registries are small operations. Five at a time is polite and fast enough for a long list.
