# jobs.ch Jobs, With the Place the Data Layer Drops (`gubidonius/jobsch-jobs`) Actor

Swiss job adverts from jobs.ch with the exact posting time, the workload percentage and the workplace as the site wrote it. The page's own data layer leaves the place empty on a third of adverts and invents the advert text, so this reads both surfaces and keeps the one that is true.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## jobs.ch jobs

Swiss job adverts from jobs.ch, with the exact posting time, the workload percentage and the
place of work as the site wrote it.

Every page of a jobs.ch search holds the same adverts twice. There are the cards you see, and
there is a machine readable copy underneath. Neither one is complete, and most scrapers read
only one of them.

The cards have the place of work and the workload. The machine readable copy leaves the place
empty on 7 adverts out of 21, including every advert that is open in more than one town.

The machine readable copy has the exact posting time. The card only says "2 weeks ago".

So this Actor reads both and keeps what is true in each.

There is one more thing about that copy. Its job description is not the advert. It is built
from the title, so every advert gets a sentence like "We are looking for a Equipment Engineer
to join our team." That text is never published here. For the real advert text, use
jobsch-job-details.

### The place of work

This is the field that looks easy and is not, so read this before you use it.

jobs.ch writes the workplace as one line with commas in it. The same shape means different
things:

- "Bern, Fribourg, Neuchatel" is one advert open in three places
- "Baden, Aargau, Switzerland" is one place, written town, canton, country
- "Zurich, Zurich, Schweiz" is the same thing again in German
- "Porto, Portugal" is one place in another country
- "Neuwiesenstrasse 15, 8400 Winterthur" is a street address

All five were on live rows on 13 September 2026. The site publishes nothing that tells them
apart, and the canton names Bern, Fribourg and Neuchatel are town names too, so no list of
place names can settle it either.

If you split that field on the comma you get a town called "Schweiz" and another called
"Neuwiesenstrasse 15".

So this Actor gives you `placeOfWorkLabel` exactly as the site wrote it, and
`placeOfWorkParts` named as parts of a label, not as a list of workplaces. You decide.

### How big a search really is

jobs.ch tells the truth about the size of a search. A full walk of "engineer" served 1,517
card links holding 1,459 different adverts, and the site said 1,459. So the total counts each
advert once, and the same advert does appear on two pages.

That means a walk has to drop repeats or it over reports by about 4 percent. This one does,
and tells you how many it dropped.

What the site will not do is serve past page 100. A search for region 2 says 36,824 adverts
and will hand over about 2,100 of them. Ask for more than one search can serve and this Actor
cuts the search into the site's own 15 regions and walks those.

### Filters

Seven filters work: search term, place, region id, occupational field id, industry id,
contract type id, days since publication, and employer size band.

Some do not work, and this matters. jobs.ch does not refuse a filter it does not understand.
It ignores it and returns the whole board. A run that looks filtered gives you 44,000 adverts.

The site's own sitemap files advertise `employment-type-ids` and `employment-position-ids`.
Neither one does anything. Nor does `workload`, `language`, `sort` or `company-id`. All of
them were tested against a known search on 13 September 2026 and all behaved exactly like a
made up parameter.

Every run lists the filters that were applied and the ones the source ignores, so you never
have to guess.

Region, occupational field, industry and contract type take numbers, not names. Give a name
and the run stops before it is billed, instead of quietly searching everything.

### Cost

Both events cost 0.00001 USD. You are charged after rows are written, so a search that matches
nothing costs nothing. A repeated advert is dropped before the budget is counted, so you never
pay twice for it.

One request returns 19 to 22 adverts. A search of 204 adverts took 150 rows in 8 requests and
4 seconds.

### Companion Actors

- jobsch-job-details for the full advert text, start date and apply link
- jobsch-companies for the whole employer directory, 86,995 of them
- jobsch-company-details for an employer profile with coordinates
- jobsch-salaries for Swiss median pay by profession and canton

All measurements here are from 13 September 2026. Every row carries `searchTotal` so you read
today's number from your own run.

# Actor input Schema

## `term` (type: `string`):

Job title, skill or keyword. The jobs.ch search is semantic rather than substring, so "engineer" returns 1,459 adverts and "e" returns 182, not everything containing the letter. Leave it empty to search the whole board under the filters below.

## `location` (type: `string`):

A place name such as zurich, geneva, basel or lausanne. Case does not matter. This is the one place filter jobs.ch accepts as a word rather than an id.

## `region` (type: `string`):

One of the 15 region ids jobs.ch uses, as a number: 2 German part of Switzerland, 3 Western Switzerland, 4 Ticino, 5 Abroad, 6 Geneva, 7 Zurich / Schaffhausen, 8 Neuchâtel / Jura, 9 Fribourg, 10 Vaud / Valais, 11 Eastern Switzerland / GR / FL, 12 Mittelland (AG / SO), 13 Bern, 14 Basel, 15 Central Switzerland, 16 Oberwallis. A name instead of a number stops the run rather than returning the whole board unfiltered.

## `category` (type: `string`):

A numeric occupational-field id, for example 97. jobs.ch publishes 165 of them in its own sitemap. A name instead of a number stops the run.

## `industry` (type: `string`):

A numeric industry id from 1 to 24. A name instead of a number stops the run.

## `employmentType` (type: `string`):

Contract type as a number: 1 Temporary, 2 Freelance, 3 Internship, 4 Supplementary income, 5 Permanent position, 6 Apprenticeship. A name instead of a number stops the run.

## `publishedWithinDays` (type: `integer`):

Only adverts published in the last N days. 0 means no date filter. This is the cheapest way to run the Actor as a change feed: run it daily with 1 and compare on jobId.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

How many adverts to return at most. The budget is global and checked after deduplication, so a duplicate never uses a paid slot. A single jobs.ch search serves at most 100 pages, about 2,000 to 2,200 adverts, whatever its total says. Ask for more than that and the search is cut into the site's own regions to reach the rest.
