## SEC Filing Full Text Search

Search the full text of every SEC filing for a phrase, and get back the companies that used
it with a direct link to the document.

### What it is for

"Which companies mentioned quantum computing in an 8-K this year." "Who named our competitor
in a risk factor." "Which filings talk about a tariff exposure." The SEC indexes the whole
text of every filing, and this reads that index and hands you a table.

### What you get per match

The company name, its ticker and CIK split into separate columns, the form type, which
exhibit inside the filing matched, the filing date, the business location and a link
straight to the document.

The SEC returns the company as one string with everything glued together:

Splitting that into three usable columns is most of what this Actor does, and it is careful
about it: a company with brackets in its own name does not get a piece of its name read as a
ticker.

### The 10,000 result ceiling

The search stops counting at 10,000 and refuses to page past it. A broad phrase will report
exactly 10000 matches, and that number means "at least 10,000", not "10,000".

The run summary says which kind of number you got, per phrase, in `matchCountIsExact`. When
it is false, add a date range and run the phrase again over shorter windows. A truncated
result set that looks complete is the worst thing a search can hand you, so this Actor says
out loud when it happens rather than letting you find out later.

### Notes

Wrap a phrase in double quotes for an exact match, otherwise the SEC matches the words
separately. A date range needs both ends, because the SEC ignores one on its own.

The same document can match two of your phrases. It is returned once, and billed once.

### Access

The search is free and needs no key. It does ask for a User-Agent that identifies who is
calling, so this Actor sends a real contact address on every request.

Each phrase is searched across the full text of every SEC filing. Wrap it in double quotes for an exact match.

## `formTypes` (type: `array`):

Keep only these forms. 8-K is a material event, 10-K the annual report, S-1 an IPO registration. Leave empty for every form.

## `startDate` (type: `string`):

Both ends of the range are needed. The SEC ignores one on its own.

## `endDate` (type: `string`):

Both ends of the range are needed.

## `cik` (type: `string`):

A CIK number, to search inside a single company's filings.

## `maxResultsPerPhrase` (type: `integer`):

The SEC stops paging at 10,000 results whatever you ask for. Narrow with a date range to reach the rest.
