# Retail Price Proof — Retail price checks with page evidence (`hadi.kanj/retail-price-proof`) Actor

Compare public product-page prices with your stated MAP threshold. Inspect price, currency and source evidence before acting on a finding. Demo: https://market-data-gateway-production-2084.up.railway.app/launch/retail-price-proof

## Pricing

$5.00 / 1,000 verified product checks

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Retail Price Proof — Prices, Stock & MAP Checks

Check supplied public product URLs for advertised prices, currency and stock, with source-field evidence. Optionally compare prices with your own minimum advertised price (MAP). Use the same monitoring list name on repeated runs to track changes.

### Quick start

Paste one to 100 product URLs into the input, then run:

```json
{
  "products": [{"url": "https://nalgene.com/product/32oz-wide-mouth-bottle/"}],
  "stateKey": "my-products",
  "onlyViolations": false
}
```

For a threshold comparison, provide `mapPrice` and its three-letter `currency` together. Add `sku` to select a particular variant. Labels such as `brand`, `seller` and `label` are optional.

### Output

Every check has a `status`, URL and check timestamp. Successful rows include `lowestPrice`, `currency`, stock where available, and `evidence` naming the captured source fields and URLs. Optional data remains null when unavailable. `VERIFIED` means an exact structured advertised price was extracted; it is not proof of a policy violation or a shopper's final checkout price.

Repeat a run with the same `stateKey` to compare price and stock changes. Configure an Apify Task and Schedule for recurring checks. The `SUMMARY` key-value-store record contains checked, verified, error and output counts. Export results as JSON or CSV. With `onlyViolations` enabled, successful non-violations are omitted; unsuccessful checks remain visible.

Blocked pages, robots exclusions, missing prices, unsupported SKUs and conflicting currencies/prices produce explicit statuses. Inspect each row even when the run succeeds.

### Call from your application

Use your own Apify token in an Authorization header:

```bash
curl -X POST 'https://api.apify.com/v2/actors/6TTbl6Zm3BWZDLb9O/run-sync-get-dataset-items' \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"products":[{"url":"https://nalgene.com/product/32oz-wide-mouth-bottle/"}],"stateKey":"my-products"}'
```

For longer runs, start asynchronously with `POST /v2/actors/6TTbl6Zm3BWZDLb9O/runs`, wait for completion and retrieve the returned default dataset. Keep tokens out of URLs and shared examples.

### Scope and limitations

This tool checks URLs you supply. It does not discover all resellers, bypass access controls, interpret coupons, normalize country-specific shopper pricing, or determine whether a brand policy legally applies. Pages requiring browser interaction may be unsupported. Manually verify shopper-visible prices before enforcement. Stock is null when reliable availability evidence is absent. A page hash is included where available; this beta does not retain full pages or screenshots.

### Support

Open an issue on the Actor's Issues tab with a public product URL, run ID and expected behavior. Never include credentials or private customer data.

# Actor input Schema

## `products` (type: `array`):

Each item needs a URL. Add mapPrice and currency for a MAP check; add sku to select one variant. Up to 100 pages per run.

## `stateKey` (type: `string`):

Use the same name on scheduled runs to compare prices and stock over time. Kept separately for each Apify user.

## `onlyViolations` (type: `boolean`):

All successfully checked pages still count as checks; the dataset includes only pages with an evidenced below-MAP price.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "products": [
    {
      "url": "https://nalgene.com/product/32oz-wide-mouth-bottle/"
    }
  ],
  "stateKey": "default",
  "onlyViolations": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `checks` (type: `string`):

Advertised prices, stock, optional MAP comparisons, source evidence and explicit unsuccessful-check statuses.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Counts of checked, verified, below-MAP, error and output rows.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "products": [
        {
            "url": "https://nalgene.com/product/32oz-wide-mouth-bottle/"
        }
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("hadi.kanj/retail-price-proof").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
