## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## FAA Airworthiness Directives (AD) Tracker: AD Numbers by Manufacturer

**FAA Airworthiness Directives Tracker** returns a clean, structured feed of FAA airworthiness directives (ADs) and proposed ADs (NPRMs) from the official Federal Register API: AD number, document type, the manufacturer or product line named in the title, publication, effective and comment-close dates, amendment, docket and project identifiers, Federal Register citation, the full abstract and a link to the full text. No API key or login. Export JSON, CSV or Excel, or schedule it daily or weekly to monitor new directives.

### Input

All fields are optional. This example lists the last 60 days of final and proposed ADs mentioning Boeing 737:

```json
{
  "daysBack": 60,
  "includeFinal": true,
  "includeProposed": true,
  "search": "Boeing 737",
  "maxItems": 300
}
```

- `daysBack`: only documents published in the last N days (default 60). Ignored if `startDate` is set.
- `startDate`, `endDate`: publication date range, `YYYY-MM-DD`.
- `includeFinal`: return final-rule ADs (default true).
- `includeProposed`: also return proposed ADs open for comment (default true).
- `search`: extra keywords such as a manufacturer or model (`Cessna`, `Boeing 737`, `engine`).
- `maxItems`: maximum rows (default 300, capped at 9000).

### Output

One row per directive, newest first. Real example row (abstract shortened here):

```json
{
  "adNumber": "2026-20-09",
  "documentType": "Final AD",
  "manufacturer": "Bombardier, Inc., Airplanes",
  "title": "Airworthiness Directives; Bombardier, Inc., Airplanes",
  "publicationDate": "2026-10-14",
  "effectiveDate": "2026-11-18",
  "commentsCloseDate": null,
  "amendment": "39-23482",
  "projectIdentifier": "MCAI-2025-01592-T",
  "docketNumber": "FAA-2026-2289",
  "federalRegisterCitation": "91 FR 65100",
  "documentNumber": "2026-21010",
  "abstract": "The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Bombardier, Inc., Model BD-700-2A12 airplanes. This AD was prompted by reports of low clearance in the right wing ...",
  "url": "https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/10/14/2026-21010/airworthiness-directives-bombardier-inc-airplanes"
}
```

Proposed ADs have `documentType` "Proposed AD (NPRM)" and usually a `commentsCloseDate`.

### Use cases

Search phrases this actor is built for:

- **"FAA airworthiness directives by manufacturer"**: put a maker or model in `search` to see its latest ADs.
- **"Airworthiness directive AD numbers"**: read `adNumber`, `effectiveDate` and `abstract` for each new directive.
- **"Proposed airworthiness directives"**: set `includeFinal` to false to follow NPRMs open for comment.

Typical users are aircraft maintenance shops, A\&Ps and inspectors, aviation insurers, lessors and fleet managers, and aviation-data or compliance software teams. It also works as a tool for AI agents through the Apify MCP server.

### Pricing

Pay per result: each directive row returned is one billable result, listed at $0.002 per row ($2 per 1,000). Set a maximum charge on the run for a hard ceiling.

### Limits

- Data is Federal Register documents published by the FAA that match "airworthiness directives". It is not the FAA's own AD database, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FAA.
- Keyword search matches the Federal Register text, so the `manufacturer` field is parsed from the document title and may be null if the title is unusual.
- Always read the full AD text before acting on compliance. This is a data feed, not airworthiness advice.
- `maxItems` is capped at 9,000 per run.

### FAQ

**Does it need an API key?** No. It uses the public Federal Register API.

**Does it include proposed ADs?** Yes, unless you set `includeProposed` to false.

**How fresh is it?** Documents appear when they are published in the Federal Register; schedule the actor daily to catch new ones.
