## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Review Pain-Point Miner (App Store + Google Play)

Find out **what users hate and what they wish for** in any app category. You enter search terms such as "habit tracker" or "budget app", or specific app IDs. The Actor reads the most recent App Store and Google Play reviews and returns one row per app with:

- **Pain score**: demand (rating count, log scale) × share of 1–2★ reviews × (1 + wish rate)
- **Complaint categories**, each with a count and a share: pricing/subscription, bugs/crashes, ads, missing feature, accuracy, localization, support, privacy
- **Verbatim feature wishes**, e.g. "Please add option to check things off from apple watch."
- **Willingness-to-pay signals**: reviews that say "I'd pay", "one-time purchase", "lifetime"…
- **Sample 1–2★ complaints**
- Optionally, **every review as a row**, with its categories and wish sentences

The Actor does not use an LLM or need API keys. Every review is classified by transparent keyword rules, so you get the same result every time and the cost stays low. The rules work for English and Turkish reviews.

### Use cases

- Validate an app idea before building: find the categories where users are unhappy and say what they want
- Competitor research: find out why users leave a rival app
- Product roadmap: collect feature requests from your own app's reviews across countries

### Input example

```json
{
  "searchTerms": ["habit tracker"],
  "stores": ["appstore", "googleplay"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxAppsPerTerm": 5,
  "reviewPages": 2
}
```

### Output example (one app row)

```json
{
  "store": "appstore", "country": "us", "appName": "Habit Tracker - HabitKit",
  "painScore": 4.57, "lowStarShare": 0.14, "wishRate": 0.12, "willingToPayCount": 2,
  "topComplaintCategory": "pricing_subscription",
  "complaintCategories": {"pricing_subscription": {"count": 6, "share": 0.12}},
  "featureWishes": [{"quote": "Please add option to check things off from apple watch.", "stars": 4}]
}
```

The key-value store record `OUTPUT` holds every app ranked by pain score.

### Limits

- The App Store feed returns at most the 500 most recent reviews per app and country.
- Google Play reviews are read with the open-source `google-play-scraper` library. Some apps return no reviews.
- Keyword rules can miss sarcasm or mixed reviews, so read the quoted wishes before you decide.
