## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Action Scraper — French Product Prices & Unit Prices

Collect product information from Action's French website (`action.com/fr-fr`). Start with a category URL to compare prices across its listings, or use product URLs for additional details such as ratings when available.

Use the results to track an assortment, compare prices per kilogram or litre, or feed your own spreadsheet or data pipeline. This Actor reads the public catalog without selecting a store. It does **not** check stock in your local Action store.

### Try it with 20 products

1. Paste a French Action category or product URL into **Start URLs**.
2. Set **Maximum number of products** to `20` for a small first run.
3. Start the Actor and open the dataset when it finishes.
4. Open the run and follow the **Run summary** output link to check rejected URLs, incomplete collections or limits reached. Export the dataset as JSON, CSV or Excel.

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {"url": "https://www.action.com/fr-fr/c/animaux-domestiques/"}
  ],
  "maxItems": 20
}
```

`maxItems` limits unique products across the run. The form is prefilled with 20; the schema default is 500. Set it explicitly in API calls. A value of `0` removes this product-count limit.

### Choose the right input

| Input | What it collects | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Category URL, `/fr-fr/c/…` | Products listed in that category, with prices and unit prices when displayed | It does not open every product page to enrich the listing records. |
| Product URL, `/fr-fr/p/…` | A product's details, including ratings and availability indicators when provided by the page | Missing values are returned as `null`; these indicators do not establish local store stock. |

Category pagination starts at page 1, including when the supplied URL points to a later page. Use clean category or product URLs: other countries, keyword search, sorting and unsupported filter parameters are rejected with a reason in the run summary.

Products are deduplicated within a run. You can include product and category URLs together: explicit product URLs are processed first. When a product page succeeds, its detailed record takes precedence over the same product in a category listing. A category URL alone does not trigger this product-page enrichment.

![Example of actual Action product data collected on 16 October 2026](https://api.apify.com/v2/key-value-stores/J098q5YwXtKYuScyg/records/action-example-178feeb82532.png)

### Output fields

| Fields | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `sku`, `name`, `url`, `image` | Product code, name and links. `sku` is not an EAN barcode. |
| `price`, `priceCurrency` | Displayed price and currency. |
| `unitPrice`, `unit` | Displayed unit price and unit, when available. |
| `description` | Listing description or product-page description, depending on the input. |
| `rating`, `reviewCount`, `seller`, `availability`, `category` | Product-page fields; they may be `null`. |
| `priceContext` | Nested object recording that no store or delivery postcode was selected. This does not establish a national price. |
| `sourceUrl`, `page`, `position`, `scrapedAt` | Source and collection information; some fields depend on the page type. |

Most fields are scalar values. `priceContext` is an object: account for it when transforming JSON or choosing spreadsheet columns.

#### Real output example

This category record was collected on **16 October 2026**, using the input above. It illustrates the format, not the product's current price or availability.

```json
{
  "sku": "3017091",
  "name": "Jouet pour chien Nerf",
  "url": "https://www.action.com/fr-fr/p/3017091/jouet-pour-chien-nerf/",
  "image": "https://asset.action.com/image/upload/t_digital_product_image/w_1920/3017091_8718964304370-110_01_evfq8t.webp",
  "description": "Divers modèles",
  "price": 1.69,
  "priceCurrency": "EUR",
  "priceContext": {
    "state": "none",
    "deliveryPostalCode": null,
    "store": null
  },
  "unitPrice": 1.69,
  "unit": "pce",
  "rating": null,
  "reviewCount": null,
  "seller": null,
  "availability": null,
  "category": null,
  "position": 1,
  "page": 1,
  "sourceUrl": "https://www.action.com/fr-fr/c/animaux-domestiques/",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-16T11:53:15+00:00"
}
```

### Pricing

$1.50 per 1,000 product results. A run delivering 20 products costs $0.03; 1,000 products cost $1.50. There is no separate Actor start fee. For standard runs, the Actor’s Apify platform usage is included in this price. A run that delivers no products incurs no product-result charge.

Set **Maximum number of products** for a small first run, and use Apify’s maximum charge per run to limit this Actor’s event charges. These prices cover this Actor, not other Actors or external services in your workflow.

### Read the run summary

If the embedded summary preview stays blank, open **Storage → Key-value store** in the run, find **SUMMARY**, and use its open-link action to read the HTML summary directly. The **OUTPUT** record contains the same information as JSON.

A successful process status alone does not prove that every requested URL was fully collected. Open **Run summary** to see the outcome for each URL:

- `done`: the listing was processed to its end.
- `stopped_at_limit` or `not_processed`: the result or charge limit stopped further collection.
- `partial_collection`: some results were delivered, but the listing was not completed.
- `no_products`, `not_found`, or an access/network error: inspect the affected URL and the reported reason.

Unsupported inputs appear in `rejectedUrls`. If a result is missing, check the page type and the summary before interpreting it as a change in the catalog.

### Automation

You can call the Actor through the Apify API and retrieve its dataset, or configure an Apify schedule for repeat collections. Keep dated snapshots in your own storage to compare runs: this Actor returns observations, not a ready-made history of price changes.

### Limits and support

- Only the French `/fr-fr/` catalog is supported.
- No store or postcode is selected. Results do not guarantee a local stock quantity or checkout price.
- Category results and product-page results have different levels of detail.
- A retailer can change or block its pages. Use the run summary to distinguish incomplete collection from a genuine absence of products.

For a reproducible problem, open an issue with the public source URL, run ID and the result you expected. Do not include API tokens or other credentials.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

action.com /fr-fr/ pages to scrape. Accepted: category pages (/fr-fr/c/…) and product pages (/fr-fr/p/…). Search, sorting and filter parameters are disallowed by the site's robots.txt. A category URL copied on page N is read from page 1.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stops after this many unique products across all start URLs. 0 = no limit. Nombre maximum de produits uniques ; 0 = sans limite.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed by default. Only enable it if your runs get blocked. Inutile par défaut.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {
      "url": "https://www.action.com/fr-fr/c/animaux-domestiques/"
    }
  ],
  "maxItems": 20,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `products` (type: `string`):

All products, one record each, with every field.

## `prices` (type: `string`):

Price view: product, price, unit price, rating, product code, link.

## `details` (type: `string`):

Detail view: availability, seller, category, description (product-page URLs fill these).

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Readable per-URL summary: page type, status (a listing cut short by the site shows 'partial_collection'), products collected, reason for any URL that returned nothing.

## `summaryJson` (type: `string`):

The same summary as JSON (OUTPUT record), for programmatic use.
