## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Scraper — Interest Over Time, Regions & Queries

Get Google Trends data for any keyword: the 0–100 interest curve over time, where it is searched most, and the top and rising related searches and topics. Pick a country and a period, paste your keywords, press Start.

**Why this one**

- 🔁 **Built to keep working.** Google Trends rate-limits hard. Every lookup gets its own residential IP and session, and a refused request is waited out and tried again.
- 💸 **You pay only for keywords that return data.** A keyword with too little search volume comes back as `NO_DATA`, and a lookup that fails after every retry comes back as `FAILED` with the reason — neither is charged.
- 📈 **Everything Trends shows, in one record per keyword** — the full timeline, the peak and the average, interest by country or by state/region, and related queries and topics.
- 🧾 **Honest results.** Every keyword gets a status: `OK`, `NO_DATA` or `FAILED`.

### What you get

For every keyword:

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `status` | `OK`, `NO_DATA` or `FAILED` |
| `keyword`, `geo`, `timeRange` | what was looked up |
| `timeline` | every point: `date`, `label`, `value` (0–100), and `partial` for the still-running last period |
| `averageInterest` | average over the complete points |
| `peak` | the highest point: `date` and `value` |
| `regions` | interest by country (worldwide) or by state/region (within a country), highest first |
| `relatedQueries` | `top` and `rising` related searches |
| `relatedTopics` | `top` and `rising` related topics |
| `error` | why a keyword has no data, when it has none |

#### Example

From a live run — `coffee`, United States, past 12 months:

```json
{
  "keyword": "coffee",
  "geo": "US",
  "timeRange": "today 12-m",
  "status": "OK",
  "averageInterest": 76.6,
  "peak": { "date": "2026-04-12", "value": 100 },
  "timeline": [ { "date": "2025-09-21", "label": "Sep 21 – 27, 2025", "value": 62, "partial": false } ],
  "regions": [ { "code": "US-WY", "name": "Wyoming", "value": 100 } ],
  "relatedQueries": {
    "top": [ { "query": "coffee near me", "value": 100, "formatted": "100" } ],
    "rising": [ { "query": "how to remove coffee stain from carpet", "value": 5500, "formatted": "Breakout" } ]
  }
}
```

That run returned 53 weekly points, 51 states and 25 top and 25 rising related searches; the arrays above are shortened.

### How to use it

1. Add your **Keywords**. Each one gets its own 0–100 curve.
2. Set **Country** as a two-letter code (`US`, `DE`, `HU`…), or leave it empty for worldwide.
3. Choose a **Time range**, from the past hour to since 2004.
4. Press **Start**, and download the results from the **Output** tab as JSON, CSV or Excel.

You can also call it from the Apify API, from Make, Zapier or n8n, or from an AI agent through the Apify MCP server.

### Pricing

You are charged **per keyword with data** — see the price on this page. `NO_DATA` and `FAILED` keywords are free. If your run has a **Maximum charge**, the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached and tells you how many keywords were left.

### FAQ

**Why are the numbers 0–100 and not search counts?** That is how Google Trends reports interest: 100 is the peak within the chosen period and place. Google does not publish absolute search volumes.

**Can I compare keywords against each other?** Each keyword is looked up on its own, so each has its own 0–100 scale. Comparing two keywords on one shared scale is not supported yet.

**A keyword came back as `NO_DATA`.** Google Trends shows nothing for it in that place and period — usually too little search volume. Try a wider period or worldwide. You were not charged.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Search terms to look up on Google Trends. Each keyword gets its own 0-100 interest curve.

## `geo` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country code, e.g. US, DE, HU. Leave empty for worldwide.

## `timeRange` (type: `string`):

How far back to look.

## `includeRegions` (type: `boolean`):

Add where the keyword is most searched — countries worldwide, or states and regions within a country.

## `includeRelated` (type: `boolean`):

Add the top and rising related searches and topics.

## `category` (type: `integer`):

Google Trends category id. 0 means all categories.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many keywords to look up at the same time.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

RESIDENTIAL by default: Google Trends throttles datacenter IPs.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "keywords": [
    "coffee"
  ],
  "geo": "US",
  "timeRange": "past 12 months",
  "includeRegions": true,
  "includeRelated": true,
  "category": 0,
  "maxConcurrency": 3,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true,
    "apifyProxyGroups": [
      "RESIDENTIAL"
    ]
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Every result as a JSON record, with a status for each input.

## `resultsCsv` (type: `string`):

The same records as CSV, for a spreadsheet.
