## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Property24 Scraper — SA Property for Sale & Rent, No Phones

Get property listings from Property24, South Africa's largest property portal: price, bedrooms, bathrooms, parking, floor and erf size, property type, suburb, city and province, the agency, badges such as Reduced, On Show or Under Offer, and the listing's summary and photo. For sale and to rent. Paste your Property24 search links — or just type a suburb, a city, a region or a province. Tick one box to also get the date each listing went up, the full description, the map point, rates and taxes, and levies.

**Why this one**

- 🔗 **Your search, as you set it up.** Set every filter you like on property24.com and paste the link. Or type a place here — Sea Point, Sandton, Durban, East Rand, Gauteng — and set sale or rent, property type, price, bedrooms, bathrooms, sort order, auctions, repossessions or show days below.
- ⚡ **Fast, and deep.** A live test run read four searches — Cape Town for sale, Durban houses, and apartments to rent in Sandton and on the East Rand — 4,420 properties in 5 minutes. There is no 1,000-listing cap: the same run read 1,500 of Cape Town's 3,669 listings, 75 pages deep.
- 🧹 **Only real results.** Each Property24 results page hides a decoy copy of a listing under a listing number that is not its own, and adds a promoted listing from a neighbouring area, a "new developments" advert and "surrounding suburbs" suggestions. All of these are left out, listings are counted once, and your price and bedroom filters are checked on every result.
- 🔒 **No phone numbers, no agents' names.** Agencies are named by their company only. A private seller or landlord gets no name, no street address and no map point — only the suburb and city. Phone numbers, e-mail addresses and people's names after "call", "WhatsApp", "contact" and the like are taken out of the text.
- 💸 **You pay only for properties delivered.** A link that is not a Property24 search, or a place Property24 does not know, comes back as a free record with the reason.

### What you get

For every property:

| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| `priceText`, `price`, `pricePeriod`, `currency` | the asking price or rent as shown ("R 2 450 000", "POA"), as a number in rand, and "per day" / "per m²" when a rental says so |
| `bedrooms`, `bathrooms`, `parkingSpaces` | as on the listing (Property24 counts a studio as 0.5 bedrooms) |
| `floorSizeSqm`, `erfSizeSqm` | floor size and plot (erf) size in m² |
| `propertyType`, `title` | House, Apartment / Flat, Townhouse, Vacant Land / Plot, Farm, Commercial, Industrial |
| `suburb`, `city`, `province`, `suburbId`, `address` | where it is; the street only for agency listings |
| `summary` | the start of the listing's text |
| `badges` | Reduced, On Show: 27 SEP, Under Offer, Sold, AUCTION, NO TRANSFER DUTY, AVAILABLE: 01 OCT, RETIREMENT… |
| `sellerType`, `agency`, `agencyId` | agency or private seller; the agency's company name (no phone numbers, no agents) |
| `listedByAgencies`, `isPremium` | how many agencies list the same property; a premium (featured) listing |
| `image`, `url`, `listingId` | the listing |
| `listingDate`, `headline`, `description`, `latitude`, `longitude`, `ratesAndTaxes`, `levies`, `petsAllowed`, `lifestyle`, `detailPropertyType` | only with **Open every listing for its details** |
| `input`, `place`, `position`, `scrapedAt`, `status`, `error` | which search it came from, and why a search gave nothing |

### How to use it

1. Paste **Search links** from property24.com (for sale or to rent), one per line — or type **Places** and choose **For sale or to rent**, the **Property type** and the optional filters.
2. Set **Max listings per search**, and tick **Open every listing for its details** if you need the listing date, the full description or the costs.
3. Press **Start**, and download the results from the **Output** tab as JSON, CSV or Excel.

To follow new listings in an area, save your input as a task with **Sort by** set to "Newest first" and a small **Max listings per search**, and schedule it daily.

You can also call it from the Apify API, from Make, Zapier or n8n, or from an AI agent through the Apify MCP server.

### Pricing

You are charged **per property delivered** — see the price on this page. Links that are not Property24 searches and places Property24 does not know are free.

### FAQ

**How many properties per search?** As many as Property24 has — it shows every page of a search, 20 listings a page. Set **Max listings per search** to what you need.

**How fast is it?** About 1,000 listings a minute from the results pages (a live run: 1,000 in 60 seconds). With **Open every listing for its details** it opens one page per listing, about one a second: 300 listings with details took 5 minutes 20 seconds.

**When was a listing put up?** Tick **Open every listing for its details**: `listingDate` comes with every property for sale (150 of 150 in a test). Property24 shows no listing date for rentals, so there it stays empty.

**Why a residential proxy?** Property24 answers the Apify servers' own addresses with "Server unavailable" after a request or two. The run therefore goes through one South African residential address, kept for the whole run and at about one request a second. If Property24 still asks to slow down, the run pauses and carries on more slowly on the same address.

**Private sellers?** Property24 marks owners' own listings; they come with `sellerType: "private"` and without a name, street address or map point. Some owners pay for a premium listing with their letting company's logo; the details page tells those apart too.

**Is this affiliated with Property24?** No. This is an independent tool that reads public Property24 listings.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchUrls` (type: `array`):

Set up a search on property24.com with all the filters you want and paste the address of the results page (…/for-sale/… or …/to-rent/…). One per line.

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Or search here without a link: suburbs, cities, regions or provinces (Sea Point, Sandton, Durban, Gauteng). Add ", <city>" to pick one of several suburbs with the same name ("Parkhurst, Johannesburg"). The filters below apply.

## `maxListingsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Stops each search after this many listings. Property24 shows every page of a search, 20 listings a page.

## `channel` (type: `string`):

For the places above.

## `propertyType` (type: `string`):

For the places above.

## `minPrice` (type: `integer`):

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many searches to work on at the same time.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Property24 turns the Apify servers' own addresses away ("Server unavailable"), so the run goes through one South African residential address, held for the whole run and kept to about one request a second.
