## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Scraper: Search, App Details & Top Charts

Get clean App Store data in seconds: search apps by keyword, look up any app by ID or bundle ID, and download the **Top Free** and **Top Paid** charts for any country.

Data comes from Apple's own public iTunes Search/Lookup API and Apple's public chart feeds, so it is fast and stable. No login, no browser, no proxies needed.

### What you can do

- **ASO and keyword research**: see which apps rank for a keyword, their ratings and rating counts.
- **Competitor tracking**: watch version, release notes, price and rating changes for a list of apps.
- **Market research**: pull Top 100 Free/Paid charts in several countries and compare.
- **Lead lists of app publishers**: developer name, App Store developer page and developer website (company info published by Apple).

### Input

| Field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| searchTerms | `["habit tracker", "budget app"]` | up to 200 results per term |
| appIds | `["284882215", "com.spotify.client"]` | numeric ID or bundle ID |
| charts | `["top-free", "top-paid"]` | up to 100 ranked apps each |
| countries | `["us", "gb", "de"]` | 2-letter store codes |
| maxResultsPerSearch | `50` | 1-200 |
| maxItems | `0` | total cap, 0 = no cap |

### Output (one row per app)

```json
{
  "appId": 1234567890,
  "bundleId": "com.example.habits",
  "name": "Example Habit Tracker",
  "url": "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/.../id1234567890",
  "developer": "Example Inc.",
  "developerWebsite": "https://example.com",
  "price": 0, "currency": "USD", "free": true,
  "rating": 4.8, "ratingCount": 51234,
  "primaryGenre": "Health & Fitness",
  "version": "3.2.1",
  "currentVersionReleaseDate": "2026-09-30T07:00:00Z",
  "releaseNotes": "...", "description": "...",
  "iconUrl": "...", "screenshotUrls": ["..."],
  "country": "us", "source": "search", "searchTerm": "habit tracker", "chartRank": null
}
```

`source` is `search`, `lookup` or `chart:top-free` / `chart:top-paid`; chart rows carry `chartRank`.

### Pricing

You pay per app returned. No start fee. Set `maxItems` to cap a run.

### Limits

- Apple caps keyword search at 200 apps per term and charts at 100 apps.
- App reviews are not included (this actor returns app-level data only).
- If an app is not sold in a country, it is skipped for that country with a log line.

#### FAQ

##### How do I scrape Apple App Store search results?

Add keywords to `searchTerms` and pick countries. Each app comes back with its rating, rating count, price, developer, version and release dates.

##### Can I get the App Store top charts?

Yes. Choose Top Free or Top Paid in `charts` for any country and set `chartLimit`.

##### Can I look up an app by bundle ID?

Yes. Put numeric app IDs or bundle IDs (for example `com.spotify.client`) in `appIds`.

##### Is this useful for ASO and competitor research?

Yes. Track where competitors rank for your keywords, watch rating counts over time, and spot new apps entering the charts by scheduling a daily run.
