## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEO Audit Tool: Bulk Meta Tags, Headings & Schema Checker

Paste a list of page URLs and get one row per page with a **0-100 SEO score** and a **fix list** sorted by severity.

### What is checked on every page

- **Status and redirects:** HTTP status, full redirect chain, final URL, HTTPS, server response time, X-Robots-Tag
- **Title and meta description:** text and length, with your own min/max limits
- **Indexing:** meta robots, noindex, canonical (missing or pointing elsewhere), hreflang list, html lang
- **Headings:** H1 text and count, H2 and H3 counts
- **Content:** visible word count (thin content flag), images and images without alt
- **Links:** internal, external and nofollow link counts
- **Social previews:** Open Graph title, description, image, type, url and Twitter card
- **Structured data:** schema.org types found in JSON-LD, and JSON-LD blocks that don't parse
- **Mobile:** viewport tag, favicon

### Once per site

- robots.txt found, sitemaps listed in it, whether it blocks all crawlers
- **AI search readiness:** which AI crawlers robots.txt blocks (GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot, Bytespider, Applebot-Extended, meta-externalagent, Amazonbot) and whether `llms.txt` exists

### Run summary

The key-value store record `SUMMARY` lists duplicate titles and duplicate meta descriptions across all audited pages.

### Input example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://www.python.org",
    "https://www.allbirds.com"
  ],
  "checkRobotsAndAiBots": true,
  "minTitleLength": 30,
  "maxTitleLength": 60,
  "minDescriptionLength": 70,
  "maxDescriptionLength": 160
}
```

### Output sample (one row per page, shortened)

Real row from a test run on python.org (some fields cut for length):

```json
{
  "url": "https://www.python.org/",
  "statusCode": 200,
  "responseTimeMs": 96,
  "title": "Welcome to Python.org",
  "titleLength": 21,
  "metaDescription": "The official home of the Python Programming Language",
  "metaDescriptionLength": 52,
  "canonical": null,
  "lang": "en",
  "h1Count": 5,
  "h2Count": 9,
  "imagesWithoutAlt": 0,
  "wordCount": 1037,
  "internalLinks": 127,
  "externalLinks": 78,
  "structuredDataTypes": ["WebSite"],
  "site": {
    "robotsTxtFound": true,
    "aiBotsBlocked": [],
    "llmsTxtFound": false
  },
  "score": 87,
  "issues": [
    { "severity": "warning", "code": "title_too_short", "message": "Title is 21 characters (under 30)." },
    { "severity": "notice", "code": "description_too_short", "message": "Meta description is 52 characters (under 70)." },
    { "severity": "notice", "code": "multiple_h1", "message": "5 H1 headings." },
    { "severity": "notice", "code": "missing_canonical", "message": "No canonical link." }
  ],
  "issueCount": 4
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per audited page (see the pricing tab). Pages that fail to load, return 4xx/5xx or are not HTML are not charged. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the actor stops cleanly at that limit.

### Tips

- Need every page of a site? Get the URL list from a sitemap first, then paste it here.
- Plain HTTP, no browser: fast and cheap. Pages that only render with JavaScript show what search engines see before rendering.

#### FAQ

##### How do I audit meta titles and descriptions for many pages?

Paste up to thousands of URLs. Each page gets its title, meta description and their lengths, plus a 0 to 100 score and a list of fixes.

##### Does it check if my site blocks AI crawlers like GPTBot?

Yes. With `checkRobotsAndAiBots` on, it reads robots.txt once per site and reports which AI crawlers are blocked and whether llms.txt exists.

##### Is it a replacement for Screaming Frog?

It is a light, cloud-based bulk on-page checker for lists of URLs. It does not crawl links by itself, so pass the URLs (for example from your sitemap).

##### Can I export the results?

Yes. Download CSV, Excel or JSON, or send rows to Google Sheets.
