## Pricing

Pay per event + usage

This Actor is paid per event and usage. You are charged both the fixed price for specific events and for Apify platform usage.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEC EDGAR Scraper: 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K Filings & XBRL Facts

Get normalized recent SEC filings for one issuer, with optional selected company-level XBRL metrics. Use an issuer CIK or ticker, form filters and an inclusive date checkpoint to power filing monitors, research dashboards and data pipelines.

### Quick start

```json
{
  "cik": "0000320193",
  "maxFilings": 5,
  "includeFacts": true,
  "userAgentContact": "you@yourcompany.com"
}
```

Set exactly one of `cik` or `ticker`. `forms` limits form types, such as `["10-K","10-Q","8-K"]`. `since` is an inclusive `YYYY-MM-DD` checkpoint. Persist the returned accession numbers to deduplicate repeated same-day runs. `maxFilings` is capped at 200.

### Output

Each row includes issuer, CIK, accession number, form, filing/report/acceptance dates, primary document, SEC archive links, raw 8-K items, XBRL flags and a retrieval timestamp. Optional `facts` contains up to five recent values per selected common US-GAAP concept, with units and provenance. These facts are company-level recent observations, not values extracted from each individual filing. JSON, CSV and other Apify dataset exports are available. The `STATUS` record reports returned count. An `ERROR` record and a failed run identify source errors.

### Scope and limitations

This release reads `filings.recent`, not historical submission archives. Date filtering is not a durable cross-run cursor. Fact concepts are fixed to common revenue, assets, liabilities, net income and cash metrics; missing concepts are omitted. Fact units and periods may differ. Validate source filings before relying on financial values. Public filing data is not investment or legal advice, and a successful small test is not a reliability guarantee.

### SEC fair access

Official JSON endpoints only. Each request identifies the tool and the real contact email you supply in `userAgentContact` (required), as SEC asks. Requests are sequential, at most four per second in one run, with bounded retries and backoff. SEC's ten-request-per-second limit is aggregate across machines and runs; avoid high parallelism. No proxies, access-control bypass or login credentials are used.

### Pricing

Pay per event: $0.40 per 1,000 filing rows (one charge per normalized filing in the dataset), plus a tiny actor-start charge ($0.00005 per GB of memory). See the Store pricing panel for the current price.

#### FAQ

##### How do I download 10-K and 10-Q filings from SEC EDGAR?

Enter a ticker (for example `AAPL`) or CIK, pick the forms you want and run. Each row has the filing date, accession number and direct links to the filing documents.

##### Is this an SEC EDGAR API?

It uses the official SEC EDGAR data endpoints and returns clean JSON or CSV, so you skip parsing submissions files and the 10 requests per second fair access rule yourself.

##### Can I get financial data like revenue or net income?

Turn on `includeFacts` to add XBRL company facts (the same data behind the SEC's financial statements API).

##### Can I track new 8-K filings?

Yes. Set `since` to a date and schedule the Actor daily to receive only new filings.

# Actor input Schema

## `cik` (type: `string`):

Use a CIK or ticker, not both.

## `ticker` (type: `string`):

Resolved through SEC company_tickers.json.

## `forms` (type: `array`):

Optional form filter, for example 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K or 4. Empty means all recent forms.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Optional ISO date YYYY-MM-DD, inclusive.

## `maxFilings` (type: `integer`):

Maximum filing rows to return.

## `includeFacts` (type: `boolean`):

Adds recent company-level values from the official companyfacts endpoint, not filing-specific facts.

## `userAgentContact` (type: `string`):

Your real contact email. SEC fair access asks every client to identify itself; it is sent only in the SEC request User-Agent.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "cik": "0000320193",
  "maxFilings": 5,
  "includeFacts": true
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Normalized source records. See README for row fields and limitations.

## `status` (type: `string`):

Returned count and source request status, including partial results.

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "cik": "0000320193",
    "maxFilings": 5
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("hirethomas/sec-edgar-filings-and-company-facts").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
