# Tech Stack Detector — CMS, Analytics, Pixels & Hosting (`hoanglongteam/tech-stack-detector`) Actor

Bulk-detect the technology behind any list of websites: CMS, e-commerce platform, analytics and ad pixels, payment providers, CDN/hosting, JS frameworks and chat widgets. One row per domain, with evidence for every detection.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Tech Stack Detector — CMS, Analytics, Pixels, Payments, CDN & Hosting

Paste a list of domains and get **one clean row per website** showing what it is built with:

- **CMS / site builder**: WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow, Squarespace, Framer, Drupal, Joomla, Ghost, HubSpot CMS, Contentful, Sanity, AEM, Hugo…
- **E-commerce platform**: Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, PrestaShop, OpenCart, Shopware, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Ecwid, Haravan, Sapo
- **Analytics & tag managers**: Google Analytics 4 / Universal, Google Tag Manager, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, Plausible, Matomo, Mixpanel, Segment, Amplitude, Heap, PostHog…
- **Ad pixels**: Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Google Ads, AdSense, LinkedIn Insight, Pinterest, X, Snap, Reddit, Microsoft UET, Criteo
- **Payment providers** found in page scripts: Stripe, PayPal, Braintree, Adyen, Klarna, Afterpay, Square, Amazon Pay, Razorpay, Mollie, Paddle, Shopify Payments
- **CDN / WAF & hosting**: Cloudflare, CloudFront, Fastly, Akamai, Vercel, Netlify, GitHub Pages, Heroku, Render, WP Engine, Kinsta, Azure, Google Cloud… plus the **DNS provider**
- **JS frameworks & libraries**: Next.js, Nuxt, React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, Astro, Gatsby, Remix, jQuery, Bootstrap…
- **Chat widgets, marketing tools, cookie consent**: Intercom, Drift, Zendesk, Tawk.to, Crisp, Tidio, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, OneTrust, Cookiebot…

About 170 technologies in 15 categories. Every detection comes with **evidence** (the script URL, header, cookie name or DNS record that matched), so you can check any result yourself.

### Who it's for

- **Sales & lead-gen**: find prospects that run Shopify + Klaviyo, WordPress without a CDN, or stores with no Meta Pixel.
- **Agencies**: qualify a lead list before a pitch.
- **Market research**: measure which platforms and tools a list of competitors uses.

### Input

```json
{ "websites": ["example.com", "https://shop.example.com"], "maxConcurrency": 10, "timeoutSecs": 15, "includeEvidence": true }
```

Domains or full URLs. Duplicates are removed.

### Output (one item per website)

```json
{
  "domain": "allbirds.com", "statusCode": 200, "finalUrl": "https://www.allbirds.com/",
  "cms": ["Shopify"], "ecommerce": ["Shopify"], "analytics": ["Microsoft Clarity"], "tagManagers": ["Google Tag Manager"],
  "advertising": [], "payments": ["Shopify Payments / Shop Pay"], "cdn": ["Cloudflare"], "hosting": [], "jsFrameworks": [],
  "chatWidgets": [], "consent": ["OneTrust"], "dnsProvider": null, "technologyCount": 7,
  "technologies": [{ "name": "Shopify", "categories": ["ecommerce", "cms"], "evidence": ["html: cdn.shopify.com"] }, "..."]
}
```

Also: `marketing, webServers, backend, jsLibraries, server, poweredBy, generator, title, ipv4, cname, nameservers, blockedByBotProtection, fetchError, charged`.
Export as JSON, CSV or Excel, or pull via API.

### Pricing

Pay per website analysed. You are **not charged** for invalid inputs, sites that do not resolve or time out,
HTTP errors (4xx/5xx), or sites that answer with a bot-protection challenge page. Those rows are still returned
(with `charged: false`) so you can see what failed.

### How it works

One plain HTTP request per site (homepage or the exact URL you give, following redirects) plus a few DNS lookups.
No browser, no proxies, no logins, no CAPTCHA solving. 50 sites take about 10–20 seconds.
It reads **only public technical signals**: HTML markup, response headers, the **names** of cookies the server sets
(cookie values are never read or stored) and DNS records. It does **not** collect emails, phone numbers or any personal data.

### Limitations

- Only the homepage HTML is read. Tools loaded later by JavaScript (for example GA4 loaded *through* Google Tag Manager,
  or a chat widget injected by a tag manager) may not appear. Tag managers themselves are detected.
- Sites protected by aggressive bot protection (some Akamai, Cloudflare, Fastly, DataDome setups) return a challenge page;
  these are flagged `blockedByBotProtection: true` and not charged. CDN/WAF detection from headers still works for them.
- Hosting behind a CDN is often hidden: a site on AWS behind Cloudflare shows only Cloudflare.
- Detection is pattern-based: it reports what the evidence shows, not version numbers.

# Actor input Schema

## `websites` (type: `array`):

Domains or URLs to analyse, e.g. example.com or https://shop.example.com. Only the homepage (or the exact URL) is fetched. Duplicates are removed.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many websites to analyse in parallel.

## `timeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Max seconds to wait for each website before marking it unreachable (unreachable sites are not charged).

## `includeEvidence` (type: `boolean`):

Add the matched signal (script URL, header or cookie name, DNS record) for every detected technology, so you can verify each result.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "websites": [
    "apify.com",
    "shopify.com",
    "wordpress.org",
    "vercel.com"
  ],
  "maxConcurrency": 10,
  "timeoutSecs": 15,
  "includeEvidence": true
}
```
