## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Amazon India Keyword Rank Tracker

Tracks where any brand ranks for a keyword on amazon.in, and which competitors hold the sponsored slots above it. Every result on the search page is captured in order, organic and paid alike, with price, rating and review count attached. Run it daily on your keyword set to see rank movement, new entrants and how much of page one is bought rather than earned.

### What you get

- The full search page in shopper order: `keyword`, `page`, `position` and one row per result.
- `is_sponsored` on every row, read from the Sponsored label on the card, so paid slots and organic ranks are separable.
- Competitor pricing at the moment of capture: `price`, `original_price` and `currency` (INR).
- Social proof next to the rank: `rating`, `rating_count` and `badges`.
- Identity per result: `asin`, `name`, `brand`, `image_url` and `product_url`.
- `total_results` for the keyword, the `delivery` line on the card, and `captured_at` on every row for a clean time series.

### Input

Give it keywords. The defaults are sensible for a daily rank pull.

```json
{
  "keywords": ["shampoo"],
  "locale": "in",
  "pages": 1,
  "proxyConfiguration": { "useApifyProxy": true, "apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"], "apifyProxyCountry": "IN" },
  "delayMs": 1500,
  "callsPerSession": 80
}
```

- `keywords` (required): the search terms to rank. Duplicates are ignored.
- `locale`: `in` for amazon.in, the only storefront this actor covers.
- `pages`: result pages per keyword, 1 to 7. Amazon exposes at most 7.
- `concurrency`: keywords captured in parallel, 1 to 4.
- `proxyConfiguration`: residential proxy in India. The actor already defaults to residential IN.

### Output

One row per search result position.

```json
{
  "platform": "amazon-in",
  "locale": "in",
  "keyword": "shampoo",
  "page": 1,
  "position": 1,
  "id": "B0CHX1W1XY",
  "asin": "B0CHX1W1XY",
  "name": "Product title as printed on the result card",
  "brand": null,
  "price": 349,
  "original_price": 499,
  "currency": "INR",
  "rating": 4.2,
  "rating_count": 1820,
  "in_stock": true,
  "is_sponsored": true,
  "badges": [],
  "delivery": "FREE delivery Mon, 15 Sep",
  "product_url": "https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0CHX1W1XY",
  "total_results": 20000,
  "captured_at": "2026-09-12T09:22:03.415Z"
}
```

`seller` is always null on search rows, Amazon does not print it on a result card. `brand` is null for most products: today's Amazon cards carry no brand line, and the brand is part of `name`. It is filled for books and media, where the card prints a byline. For a reliable brand per product, pass the ASINs to the matching Amazon product details actor. `original_price` is null when nothing is struck through.

### Use cases

- Daily keyword rank tracking for your own ASINs: filter on `asin` and chart `position` over `captured_at`.
- Share of search: count your rows against all rows per `keyword` and `page`.
- Ad-slot share: `is_sponsored` shows who is buying the top of page one and how that changes week to week.
- Competitor price watching on the terms you care about, using `price` and `original_price`.

### Notes and limits

- Amazon serves at most 7 result pages per keyword, so `pages` is capped at 7. A page carries roughly 48 to 60 results.
- A residential proxy in India is required. Datacentre and non-Indian addresses get a captcha or a bot interstitial.
- amazon.in is the most bot-checked storefront of the family, so a rank run is slower than on other Amazon marketplaces. A live 2-page run took a little over six minutes.
- Sponsored detection is per card and reflects the auction at capture time. Two runs an hour apart can legitimately differ.
- A keyword that returns nothing is reported as an empty capture with its context, not counted as a clean capture.
- Live run: "shampoo" over 2 pages returned 121 rows, 25 of them sponsored.

### FAQ

**Do I need a proxy?** Yes. A residential proxy in India. The actor already defaults to residential IN, and anything outside India is reliably challenged.

**How many results can I get?** Up to 7 pages per keyword, roughly 48 to 60 results a page, so about 300 to 400 rows per keyword per run.

**Does it need a login or an API key?** No. Only public search pages, no Amazon account and no advertising credentials.

**How is a sponsored slot detected?** From the Sponsored label Amazon prints on the result card, so `is_sponsored` matches what an Indian shopper sees.

**Are results pincode specific?** No. Search pages use the storefront default location. For pincode-accurate price, seller and delivery on a specific product, use the Amazon India Product Details actor.
