## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Zalando Keyword Rank Tracker

Tracks where a brand or article ranks for a keyword on seven Zalando storefronts (Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands and Poland), and flags which slots are paid placements. Each search result becomes one row with an absolute position, the brand, the live price and the sizes still buyable.

### What you get

- Absolute rank per keyword: `keyword`, `page` and a `position` that keeps counting across pages.
- `brand` on every result, so brand-level share of search is a direct count rather than a string match on the product name.
- `is_sponsored` per result, taken from the advertising marker Zalando attaches to a slot in its own collection data.
- Price at the rank the shopper sees: `price`, `original_price` when the article is reduced, and `currency` per storefront (EUR, GBP or PLN).
- `sizes` still available on the card plus `in_stock`, which turns a rank report into an availability report too.
- `flags`, Zalando's merchandising labels such as "Bestseller" or "Deal", and `total_results` from the site's own keyword count.

### Input

Pass keywords, a storefront and how many result pages to capture.

```json
{
  "keywords": ["sneaker"],
  "locale": "de",
  "pages": 1,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true,
    "apifyProxyGroups": ["RESIDENTIAL"],
    "apifyProxyCountry": "DE"
  },
  "delayMs": 1200,
  "callsPerSession": 60
}
```

- `keywords` (required): the search terms to rank. Duplicates are ignored.
- `locale`: `de`, `uk`, `fr`, `it`, `es`, `nl` or `pl`. Default `de`.
- `pages`: result pages per keyword, 1 to 10.
- `proxyConfiguration`: residential in the storefront's country, which is the default.

### Output

One dataset row per search result position.

```json
{
  "platform": "zalando",
  "locale": "de",
  "keyword": "sneaker",
  "page": 1,
  "position": 1,
  "id": "NI114D0HT-A11",
  "name": "AIR FORCE 1 LE UNISEX - Sneaker low - white",
  "brand": "Nike Sportswear",
  "price": 89.95,
  "original_price": 99.95,
  "currency": "EUR",
  "in_stock": true,
  "is_sponsored": false,
  "sizes": ["35.5", "36", "36.5", "37.5", "38", "38.5", "39", "40"],
  "flags": ["Bestseller", "Deal", "Kinder"],
  "total_results": 50599,
  "product_url": "https://www.zalando.de/nike-sportswear-air-force-1-sneaker-low-white-ni114d0ht-a11.html",
  "captured_at": "2026-09-12T02:59:10.405Z"
}
```

Zalando search cards carry no star rating, so `rating` and `rating_count` are null. `condition` is null for standard new articles, and `seller` mirrors the article label rather than an independent merchant name.

### Use cases

- Share of search by brand: count your `brand` inside the top N positions per keyword, against `total_results`.
- Rank against price positioning: pair `position` with `price` and `original_price` to see what discount depth buys visibility.
- Size availability at the top of search, from `sizes`, to catch bestsellers going out of stock in your core sizes.
- Paid-slot monitoring: watch `is_sponsored` by brand to see when a competitor starts buying your head terms.
- Seven-market comparison on one keyword list, covering EUR, GBP and PLN pricing in a single dataset.

### Notes and limits

- `pages` is capped at 10 per keyword. A verified `sneaker` capture on `zalando.de` at `pages: 1` returned 84 results, and a two page capture on `zalando.co.uk` returned 168, so roughly 84 results per page.
- Sponsored slots are not present on every keyword. Both verified runs reported zero sponsored results, so a `true` value is a real signal and not a default.
- Results are deduplicated by article SKU within a keyword, so the same article appearing twice is counted once.
- A small number of cards can arrive without their detail payload. Those rows keep `id` and `is_sponsored` and are marked with `card_missing`.
- Rank is captured for the storefront's default sort. Filters and custom sorts are not applied.

### FAQ

**Do I need a proxy?** Yes. Residential in the storefront's country (DE, GB, FR, IT, ES, NL or PL). The input already defaults to that.

**How many results can I get?** Up to 10 pages per keyword, about 84 results per page in verified runs, so roughly 840 positions per keyword per storefront.

**Does it need a login or an API key?** No. No Zalando account and no API key.

**How is sponsored detected?** Zalando marks advertised slots in the collection data behind the results page. That marker is read per slot, so the flag lines up with the position the shopper sees.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Search keywords to rank. Duplicates are ignored.

## `locale` (type: `string`):

Which storefront / locale.

## `pages` (type: `integer`):

Result pages to capture per keyword. Leave at 0 to capture every result page; the run stops as soon as the results end.

## `delayMs` (type: `integer`):

Pause between page fetches.

## `callsPerSession` (type: `integer`):

Re-mint the session after this many page fetches.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

On the Apify platform this decides egress. A residential proxy in the storefront's country is recommended (DE for the default). On our own servers it is ignored and our residential proxy is used.

## Actor input object example

```json
    "apifyProxyCountry": "DE"
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One row per search result position.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Counts for the run: what was requested, captured, skipped and failed.
