## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Chicago Contract Awards & New Business Licenses API (B2B Leads)

**Chicago government contract awards** (vendor, award amount, department, procurement type, contract PDF) and **newly issued Chicago business licenses** (business name, license type, activity, address, ward, coordinates) from the official City of Chicago Data Portal, merged into one dated feed. Export as CSV, Excel or JSON, or call it as an API.

Who uses it: B2B sales teams and suppliers looking for **new business leads in Chicago** (new restaurants, retail, contractors opening), subcontractors chasing **city contract winners**, and analysts tracking **public procurement spend**.

### Quick start

```json
{
  "days": 30,
  "feeds": [
    "contracts",
    "licenses"
  ],
  "minAwardAmount": 0,
  "maxItems": 200
}
```

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `days` | Days back from today (contract approval date / license issue date). |
| `feeds` | Which feeds to include. |
| `keyword` | Case-insensitive match on contract description or license type/business activity, e.g. ASPHALT, Retail Food. |
| `minAwardAmount` | Only contracts with award_amount at or above this. |
| `newAwardsOnly` | Skip contract modifications (revision > 0). |
| `newLicensesOnly` | Only new / change-of-location / expansion licenses (best for new-business leads). |
| `dateFrom` | YYYY-MM-DD; overrides Days back. |
| `dateTo` | YYYY-MM-DD; defaults to today. |
| `maxItems` | Maximum records per feed and in total. |

### Fields

`recordId`, `recordType` (contract_award / business_license), `date` (contract approval or license issue date), `title`, `businessName`, `nameWithheld`, `category`, `department`, `amount` (USD award amount; revisions show the modification amount as published), `status`, `contractNumber`, `revision`, `procurementType`, `startDate`, `endDate`, `licenseNumber`, `applicationType`, `expirationDate`, `address`, `city`, `state`, `zip`, `ward`, `communityArea`, `latitude`, `longitude`, `documentUrl`, `sourceUrl`, `source`.

### Privacy

Only business names are output. When a vendor or licensee name has no business marker (LLC, INC, CO, a business word) it could be a sole proprietor's personal name, so `businessName` is null, `nameWithheld` is true, and the street address is dropped. The record, amount and location fields stay.
