## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store & Google Play Scraper: Apps, Search & Charts

Scrape **apps from the Apple App Store and Google Play** in one run. Search by keyword, look up specific apps, or pull the App Store top charts, and get one clean row per app with ratings, installs, price, category, version, release dates, description and screenshots.

No login, no API key and no browser: the Actor reads the data directly, which makes it **fast and cheap**. Proxies are included in the price.

### What can you use it for?

- **App Store Optimization (ASO)**: see who ranks for your keywords in both stores.
- **Competitor research**: track ratings, updates and pricing of rival apps.
- **Market research**: find every app in a niche and compare them.
- **Lead generation**: collect developer names and websites.
- **Investment & trend research**: watch the top charts over time.

    "rank": null,
    "status": "ok"

```
Inputs that cannot be scraped (wrong URL, not found, blocked) get a free row with `status` and `error`, so you always know what happened. A run summary is saved to the key-value store as `SUMMARY`.
### Pricing
You pay **per app** saved. Proxies and compute are included. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.
### FAQ
**Do the two stores return the same fields?**
Most fields are shared. Installs are Google Play only; version, size, minimum OS and release notes are App Store only. Missing values are null.
**Can I get the reviews too?**
Use our App Store & Google Play Reviews Scraper with the app IDs from this Actor.
**Do I need an account or API key?**
No.
**Can I call it from code or an AI agent?**
Yes, via the Apify API, the official JS/Python clients, or Apify's MCP server.
