## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper: Articles, Topics & Real URLs

Scrape **Google News** for any search term, topic section or the top stories, in any country and language. Every article comes with its title, source, publish time and the **real publisher URL** (decoded from the news.google.com redirect links), plus related coverage for topic stories.

No login, no API key and no browser: the Actor reads the data directly, which makes it **fast and cheap**. Proxies are included in the price.

### What can you use it for?

- **Media monitoring**: track every article that mentions your brand, competitors or executives.
- **PR & reputation**: see which outlets cover a story and when.
- **Market & investment research**: follow news on companies, sectors and tickers.
- **AI & LLM pipelines**: feed fresh news into summarizers, alerts or RAG.
- **Content curation**: build newsletters and news feeds automatically.

### Features

| | |
|---|---|
| Inputs | Search terms (with Google operators), topic sections, top stories |
| Filters | Published within the past hour, day, week, month or year |
| Editions | Any country and language Google News supports |
| Per article | Title, source name and site, publish time, real article URL, Google News URL, rank, related articles |
| Speed | About 100 articles in a few seconds |

### How to use

1. Fill in the input (the form explains every field).
2. Click **Start**.
3. Download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or use them through the API, webhooks, Zapier, Make or n8n.

### Input example

```json
{
    "queries": [
        "openai",
        "site:reuters.com tesla"
    ],
    "topics": [
        "TECHNOLOGY"
    ],
    "timeRange": "7d",
    "country": "US",
    "language": "en"
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
    "title": "Securing our frontier model training environment",
    "source": "OpenAI",
    "sourceUrl": "https://openai.com",
    "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMif0FVX3lxTE5EQVY3Q0FYVVg3MU1JeDdHREJsV1RqbTFIdG03VWN2NWhGdFNwczlRdkV5ME9FOWRnWmdxMHZFYXJTc0haNXg0RnRzSVhSMzhqVHNfVVZK...",
    "publishedAt": "2026-10-23T18:36:34.000Z",
    "relatedArticles": [],
    "feed": "openai",
    "rank": 1,
    "url": "https://openai.com/index/securing-our-frontier-model-training-environment/",
    "urlResolved": true
}
```

Inputs that cannot be scraped (wrong URL, not found, blocked) get a free row with `status` and `error`, so you always know what happened. A run summary is saved to the key-value store as `SUMMARY`.

### Pricing

You pay **per article** saved. Proxies and compute are included. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### FAQ

**Why are there at most 100 articles per search?**
Google News returns up to 100 results per feed. Use more specific or several search terms (e.g. add `site:` or a time range) to collect more.

**What does "Resolve real article URLs" do?**
Google News links point to news.google.com. With this option the Actor asks Google News for the original publisher link, the same way the news site does when you click.

**Can I schedule it?**
Yes. Schedule it every hour with a "Past hour" time range to get a live news feed.

**Can I call it from code or an AI agent?**
Yes, via the Apify API, the official JS/Python clients, or Apify's MCP server.
