# Shopify Price & Stock Change Tracker (`inkbridge/shopify-price-stock-change-tracker`) Actor

Track price and stock changes on Shopify stores from their public catalogue. Schedule it and get only new, removed, price-changed and stock-changed variants since the last run. Pay for the changes, not the whole catalogue.

## Pricing

from $0.75 / 1,000 row saveds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Shopify Price & Stock Change Tracker

See what changed on a Shopify store since your last run: new products, removed products, price changes and stock changes.

Most Shopify scrapers give you the whole catalogue every time, and you pay for every row. This one remembers the last run. Turn on **Only return changes**, schedule it, and you get and pay for only what changed.

### Use cases

- Watch competitors' prices and get told only when they move.
- See when a rival's product goes out of stock or comes back.
- Spot new launches and removed products on a store.
- Feed price changes into a spreadsheet, Slack or your own system through Apify integrations.

### What it does

- Reads each store's public product catalogue page.
- Returns one row per product variant, with a **change** label: baseline, new, removed, price_changed, stock_changed or unchanged.
- Shows the previous price and stock status next to the new ones.
- Tells you in plain words which stores it could not read, and why.

### How to use it

1. Add store home pages to **Store URLs**.
2. Run it once with **Only return changes** on. This sets the baseline and saves no rows, so you pay only the store check.
3. Add a schedule, for example daily. Each later run returns only the differences.

Turn the option off to get a full catalogue export.

### Pricing

US$0.005 for each store read successfully, plus US$0.001 for each row saved. A store it cannot read costs nothing. Each run also has a US$0.00005 start fee. Each product variant is one row, so a store with many sizes and colours saves many rows on a full export; set a spending limit if you run one.

### Output example

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| productTitle | Example Runner |
| variantTitle | Size 9 |
| sku | RUN-09 |
| change | price_changed |
| price | 89.00 |
| previousPrice | 110.00 |
| available | true |
| previousAvailable | true |

Other fields: store, productId, productUrl, vendor, productType, tags, variantId, compareAtPrice, imageUrl, productUpdatedAt.

### Limits

- In our test of 10 well-known stores on 2 November 2026, 6 were read; 1 blocked the page, 1 stayed rate-limited and 2 returned "not found". Results vary by store, so try yours first.
- Works only on stores running Shopify that leave their public catalogue page open. Some large stores block it; these are reported and not charged.
- Shopify rate-limits this page. The Actor waits as asked and retries, so a store can take several minutes, and a store that stays limited is reported as not read. It does not use proxies to get around limits.
- It skips a store whose robots.txt disallows the catalogue page.
- Stock is available or not available. Exact quantities are not on this page.
- Baselines are kept per Apify account. A store's first run has nothing to compare against.

### Run it from code

Call it through the Apify API with this input, on a daily schedule:

```
{
  "storeUrls": ["https://www.allbirds.com"],
  "onlyChanges": true
}
```

### FAQ

**Why are there no rows on my first run?** With Only return changes on, the first run sets the baseline. Rows appear from the next run onward, when something has changed.

**Why was a store not read?** Some stores block the catalogue page or limit how often it can be read. The run's status message lists each store it could not read and why, and those stores are not charged. In our test of 10 well-known stores, 6 were read.

**Does a product limit affect removals?** If a store is cut off by Max products per store, the Actor does not report the unread products as removed.

**Can I test with a low limit first?** Yes. With Only return changes on, products you had not read yet become part of the baseline when you raise the limit, so they are not reported or charged as new.

**Can a reported price change be wrong?** The Actor reports what the store's public pages return. In our test of 6 stores, one product's price switched back and forth between runs a few minutes apart, while another product's drop was also shown on its product page. If you run on a short schedule, check a surprising change before acting on it.

# Actor input Schema

## `storeUrls` (type: `array`):

Shopify store home pages, one per line.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Stops reading a store after this many products. The example uses 20 so a first try stays cheap; raise it for real tracking.

## `onlyChanges` (type: `boolean`):

After the first run, return only new, removed, price-changed and stock-changed variants. With this on, the first run sets the baseline and saves no rows.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "storeUrls": [
    "https://www.allbirds.com"
  ],
  "maxProductsPerStore": 20,
  "onlyChanges": false
}
