## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

### 🔥 RedNote scraper: what is it and who is it for?

**RedNote (Xiaohongshu) Scraper - Trending Notes & Creators** helps brand teams, agencies and researchers with **trend monitoring** and **influencer discovery** on RedNote (Xiaohongshu, Little Red Book, 小红书). You paste a channel, keyword, note link or creator link, and this RedNote scraper collects the notes RedNote shows right now in its trending feed and categories, with engagement numbers, outlier scores and the stats of the creators behind them. The Apify Free plan gives you $5 of monthly credit to try it, and Free-plan runs work exactly like paid runs. Each run is one snapshot, so you schedule runs and compare them to see change. Just enter a channel such as `recommend` or `beauty`, a keyword or a link, and click **Start**. No RedNote account, login or cookies are needed.

- 📡 **Trend monitoring:** see which notes are in a channel's feed right now (beauty, food, travel, fashion and more) and how much engagement they have earned per day since publishing. Compare scheduled snapshots to follow **China social media trends** week by week.
- 🔍 **Influencer discovery:** each note can carry its author's followers, median likes and an outlier score. The outlier score shows when a note beats that creator's usual results, so you can shortlist Xiaohongshu influencers worth a closer look.
- 🤝 **Influencer outreach:** when creators publish an email, WeChat ID or phone number in their bio or caption, it lands in the Contact hints table, a starting point for **influencer lead generation**. Many creators publish none, so expect empty rows.
- 🌏 **China market research**: read the hashtags, captions and media of trending notes in your category, and see what RedNote users save and share.
- ✍️ **Content research**: find the formats and topics that perform well before you plan your own posts on Xiaohongshu.
- 🥊 **Competitor checks:** run a competitor's brand or product name as a keyword for a rough look at the engagement on the notes found (keyword results are limited and come in the order they are found).

This Apify RedNote scraper runs in the cloud. It gives you an API, schedules, integrations and exports in JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML.

#### What can this Xiaohongshu trending tool do?

- 🔥 Reads the RedNote trending feed (`recommend`) and 11 category channels: beauty, food, travel, fitness, gaming, career, home, film, fashion, relationships and video.
- 🔤 Searches keywords in Chinese or English, for example `咖啡` or `coffee`.
- 🔗 Opens single note links and `xhslink` share links (the short links the RedNote app creates when you tap Share). Bare note IDs work only for some older notes.
- 👤 Turns creator profile links into creator rows with followers, engagement rate, posts per week and recent notes.
- 📈 Adds engagement analytics to every note (shown in the Viral analytics view): total engagement, engagement per day, saves per like and age in days.
- 🗂️ Fills six tables live while the run is going: All results, Notes, Images and videos, Creators, Creator notes and Contact hints.
- 🎛️ Filters by publish date and minimum likes.

### 📊 RedNote scraper data: what you can extract

Every note row in your RedNote dataset has the content, the engagement numbers and, if you want, the creator's stats. Rows from creator links hold RedNote user data such as followers and posting pace.

| Data | Field names |
|---|---|
| 📝 Title and caption | `title`, `description` |
| 🏷️ Hashtags and mentions | `topics`, `mentions` |
| 📅 Publish and edit time | `publishedAt`, `publishedAtEstimated`, `lastUpdatedAt`, `ageDays` |
| ❤️ Likes | `likes`, `likesText`, `countsApproximate` |
| 🔖 Saves, comment count and shares | `collects`, `comments`, `shares`, `engagementTotal` |
| 📈 Viral analytics | `engagementPerDay`, `collectToLikeRatio`, `engagementPerFollower`, `outlierScore` |
| 💼 Sponsored-content signal | `sponsoredSignal`, `authorStatement` |
| 👤 Author | `authorId`, `authorName`, `authorUrl`, `authorAvatar` |
| 👥 Creator stats on each note | `authorFollowers`, `authorFollowersText`, `authorMedianLikes`, `authorSampleNotes`, `authorTotalLikesAndCollects`, `authorNotesPosted`, `authorBio`, `authorGender`, `authorIpLocation`, `authorRedId`, `authorVerified`, `authorTags`, `authorStatsFound` |
| 📇 Public contact hints | `contactHints` (emails, WeChat IDs, phone numbers) |
| 📸 Images | `coverUrl`, `imageCount`, `images` (with width, height and live-photo clips) |
| 🎬 Video | `videoUrl`, `video` (duration, width, height and links) |
| 📍 Region | `ipLocation` |
| 🗺️ Where it came from | `discoveredVia`, `keyword`, `scrapedAt`, `url`, `noteId`, `noteType`, `type` |

Each Xiaohongshu creator row from a creator link has: `userId`, `redId`, `bio`, `gender`, `ipLocation`, `avatar`, `followers`, `following`, `likesAndCollects`, `notesPosted`, `listedNoteCount`, `avgLikesPerNote`, `medianLikesPerNote`, `engagementRate`, `postsPerWeek`, `lastPostedAt`, `videoShare`, `professionTags`, `location`, `verified`, `contactHints` and `recentNotes`. That is the Xiaohongshu engagement rate (average likes divided by followers) and posting pace for each Xiaohongshu user profile.

> **Note:** creator stats on note rows (`author…` fields, `outlierScore`, `engagementPerFollower`, `contactHints`) are filled only when **Add creator stats to every note** is on. `authorStatsFound` is `false` when the author page could not be read. Fields RedNote does not show stay `null`.

> **Note:** RedNote shows some counts rounded, such as `10+` or `1.2万`. Then the number is a floor (the lowest value the band allows, for example 10 for `10+`) and `countsApproximate` is `true`. Xiaohongshu followers under 1,000 are often shown as a band, so ratios built on them stay empty.

#### What data can't this Actor extract?

- 💬 Comment text. RedNote shows comments only to logged-in users, so you get the comment count only.
- 🔒 Private or login-only content.
- ↕️ Sorting. Keyword results come in the order they are found, and channel notes follow the order RedNote lists them. If you need sorted keyword search results, use the [RedNote (Xiaohongshu) Search Scraper](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-search-scraper), which offers sorting.
- 🕒 Change history between runs. Duplicates are removed within one run only. To track trends over time, schedule runs and compare them (see Tips).

### 🚀 How to scrape RedNote trending notes

The Actor is built for an easy start, even if you have never extracted data from the web before.

1. Create a free Apify account at [console.apify.com/sign-up](https://console.apify.com/sign-up).
2. Open [RedNote (Xiaohongshu) Scraper - Trending Notes & Creators](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-scraper-trending-notes-creators).
3. In **Channels, keywords or links**, keep the prefilled `recommend` and `beauty`, or add your own channel, keyword, note link or creator link (one per line).
4. Click **Start** and watch the rows arrive in the Output tab.
5. Download your data in JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML.

The default input saves up to 10 notes from each channel, which makes a small, cheap first run.

***

### 💲 RedNote scraper pricing: how much does it cost to scrape RedNote?

The Actor uses **pay-per-event** pricing: you pay for what the run actually does, not a monthly rental. Your bill has three parts:

1. **Results.** Every row saved to the main **All results** table (each note row and each creator row) is one result. The price depends on your Apify plan.
2. **Start fee.** $0.00005 per run at the default 1 GB memory.
3. **Platform usage.** The compute time, data transfer and any Apify Proxy traffic the run uses. It is billed at your Apify plan's own rates.

| Apify plan | Price per result | Price per 1,000 results |
|---|---|---|
| 🆓 Free | $0.0045 | $4.50 |
| 🥉 Starter | $0.004 | $4.00 |
| 🥈 Scale | $0.0035 | $3.50 |
| 🥇 Business and higher | $0.003 | $3.00 |

The plan discount applies to the result price only. The start fee is the same on every plan, and platform usage is billed at your Apify plan's own rates.

**Example:** the default input (2 channels × 10 notes) saves up to 20 rows. On the Free plan, that is 20 × $0.0045 = $0.09 in result charges, plus the $0.00005 start fee and platform usage. The rows in the Notes, Images and videos, Creators, Creator notes and Contact hints tables are copies of the main rows and are not charged again. Notes removed by your filters, duplicates and notes that need a login are not saved, so they are not charged. See the [Pricing tab](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-scraper-trending-notes-creators/pricing) for the live prices.

#### Is scraping RedNote free?

You can start for free. The Apify Free plan gives you $5 of credit every month, which pays for both result charges and platform usage. Free-plan runs work the same as paid runs and have no extra caps. Platform usage changes from run to run, so do a small test run first and read the cost on the run page.

To cap your spend, set a **maximum charge limit** in the run options when you start a run. It caps the result charges (platform usage comes on top). When it is reached, the run stops cleanly and keeps every row saved so far.

***

### ⬇️ Input

Only one field is required: the list of targets. Everything else has a sensible default. See the full [input schema](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-scraper-trending-notes-creators/input-schema).

#### Settings most people change

| Console title (API name) | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| 🎯 Channels, keywords or links (`urls`) | One target per line, in any mix: a channel, a keyword, a note link or ID, an `xhslink` share link, or a creator profile link. Required. | `recommend`, `beauty` |
| 🔢 Max notes per target (`maxResults`) | Notes to collect for each channel or keyword. `0` = everything RedNote shows without a login. | `10` |
| 📅 Only notes newer than (`publishedWithin`) | `7d`, `2w`, `3m`, `1y` or a date like `2026-01-01`. Here `m` = 30 days and `y` = 365 days. Empty = any age. | empty |
| ❤️ Minimum likes (`filterByMinLikes`) | Drops notes with fewer likes. `0` keeps everything. | `0` |
| 👥 Add creator stats to every note (`includeAuthorProfile`) | Adds author followers, bio, region, outlier score and contact hints to each note. Turn it off for runs that use less platform usage. | on |
| 🛡️ Proxy (`proxyConfiguration`) | Optional. Leave it as it is: the Actor uses Apify Proxy automatically when it needs it. | no proxy |

Here's an example that reads 10 trending notes from the main feed and 10 from the Beauty channel, with creator stats:

```json
{
  "urls": ["recommend", "beauty"],
  "maxResults": 10,
  "includeAuthorProfile": true
}
```

#### What to type in Channels, keywords or links

One target per line. **A line that matches a channel name opens that channel. Anything else is searched as a keyword. To search a word that is also a channel name, put `kw:` in front (`kw:food`) or wrap it in quotes (`"food"`).** Upper or lower case does not matter.

| Target | What to type |
|---|---|
| 🔥 Trending feed | `recommend` (or `trending`) |
| 📂 Category channels | `beauty`, `food`, `travel`, `fitness`, `gaming`, `career`, `home`, `film`, `fashion`, `relationships`, `video` (the channels you see on Xiaohongshu Explore) |
| 🔤 Keyword | `coffee`, `咖啡`, `kw:travel` |
| 🔗 Note link | `https://www.xiaohongshu.com/…<note ID>?…` (the full link, with everything after `?`) or `http://xhslink.com/…` |
| 👤 Creator link | `https://www.xiaohongshu.com/…<creator ID>?…` (the full link, with everything after `?`) |

You can mix target types and paste as many lines as you need. Each line is billed only for the rows it saves.

**Where to copy a creator link:** open one of the creator's notes on the RedNote website and click the author's name or avatar on that note. When the creator's profile page opens, copy the full address from your browser's address bar.

- ✅ Good: `kw:food` or `"food"`. This forces a keyword search for "food".
- ❌ Bad: `food` when you wanted a keyword. This opens the Food channel.
- ✅ Good: the full share link of a note, or the `xhslink` short link from the app.
- ❌ Bad: only the 24-character note ID. A bare ID works only for some older notes.

> ⚠️ For creator links, copy the link from a note's author link on RedNote and keep the whole link, including everything after the `?`. Plain profile links without it often ask for a login and return no row.

#### Max notes per target

The limit counts **per channel or keyword**, not per run. A note link gives 1 note and a creator link gives 1 creator row. Every saved row is a billed result. `0` (everything available) gives a count that changes from channel to channel, so set a number when you want a predictable bill.

***

### ⬆️ Output

Results appear in the **Output** tab while the run is going. Rows are saved to a **dataset** (Apify's table storage for results). The Output tab has a tab for each table:

- **All results**: every note and creator row (this is the billed table), with the views Notes, Viral analytics, Authors and Media.
- **Notes**, **Images and videos**, **Creators**, **Creator notes** and **Contact hints**: the same data split into flat tables.
- **Run summary**: the run totals. Open it from the Output tab, or go to **Storage → Key-value stores** and open `RUN_SUMMARY` (a key-value store is Apify's file storage for a run). They include `notes_saved`, `creators_saved`, `rows_saved`, `rows_charged`, `targets_without_rows`, `rows_per_target`, `filtered_out`, `duration_seconds` and `spend_limit_reached`.

**Start here:** open the **Notes** tab first. Read these columns first: `title`, `likes`, `collects`, `engagementPerDay`, `authorFollowers` and `outlierScore`.

To download a table, go to **Storage → Datasets**, pick the table and click **Export**. Choose JSON, CSV, Excel, XML or HTML, and pick the fields you want.

#### JSON example

An illustrative example row from the All results table for the input above (a Beauty channel note, shortened). The values are made up to show the format, and links are shown as placeholders.

```json
{
  "type": "note",
  "noteId": "6aeb05a40000000012034a7c",
  "url": "https://www.xiaohongshu.com/…",
  "noteType": "image",
  "title": "秋冬显白口红合集",
  "publishedAt": "2026-11-04T10:15:00Z",
  "likes": 1873,
  "collects": 942,
  "comments": 156,
  "shares": 88,
  "engagementTotal": 3059,
  "likesText": "1873",
  "countsApproximate": false,
  "collectToLikeRatio": 0.503,
  "ageDays": 2.95,
  "engagementPerDay": 1036.9,
  "authorName": "示例作者",
  "authorFollowers": 8274,
  "authorFollowersText": "8274",
  "authorMedianLikes": 214,
  "engagementPerFollower": 0.3697,
  "outlierScore": 8.75,
  "coverUrl": "https://…",
  "imageCount": 4,
  "discoveredVia": "channel:…",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-11-07T09:00:00Z"
}
```

Here `outlierScore` 8.75 means this note got about 9 times the author's median likes (the middle value of the likes on their recent notes). That is a strong RedNote viral signal. `engagementPerFollower` 0.3697 is the note's total engagement divided by the author's followers. `collectToLikeRatio` is saves divided by likes.

***

### 💡 Tips and advanced usage

#### How many results can you scrape?

It depends on the target type:

- **Channels:** RedNote shows visitors a limited number of notes per channel. Collection stops when no new notes appear, so a channel can return fewer notes than **Max notes per target**.
- **Keywords:** the number of notes found per keyword is limited, and some keyword results need a login to open. These are counted as skipped in the log and are not charged.
- **Filters:** if 60 notes are read for a target and none passes your date or likes filter, that target stops.
- **Duplicates:** a note found under two targets in the same run is saved once.

To know your numbers, do a small test run.

#### How to keep costs low

- Lower **Max notes per target** for sample runs. The default of 10 is a good start.
- Turn off **Add creator stats to every note** when you need only the note data. Result charges stay the same, but the run uses less platform usage.
- Use **Only notes newer than** and **Minimum likes** to keep only the notes you care about. Removed notes are not charged.

#### Spot Xiaohongshu viral notes with the outlier score

`outlierScore` = note likes ÷ the author's median likes on recent notes. A score above 1 beats that creator's usual results. Sort the Viral analytics view by `outlierScore` to shortlist top Xiaohongshu creators who are getting reach right now, then check their `authorFollowers`. The `topics` field shows the RedNote viral hashtags behind those notes.

#### Run it on a schedule

There is no change tracking between runs, so trend monitoring means scheduled runs that you compare yourself:

1. Set your channels (for example `recommend`, `beauty`, `food`), **Max notes per target** = `20` and **Only notes newer than** = `7d`.
2. Save the input as a **task** (a saved input you can run again) from the Console.
3. Add an Apify **schedule** to the task, for example every Monday.
4. Export each run, or send it to Google Sheets (see below), and compare `likes`, `engagementPerDay` and `topics` week by week to follow RedNote trends.

#### Known issues

- Preview image links (used when an original-quality image is not available) can expire. Download the images you need soon after the run.
- Recent notes on creator pages often have no note ID or link, because RedNote hides them from visitors. Title, likes, type, date and cover are still returned.
- `sponsoredSignal` is a wording check for ad or sponsorship terms. It is not a verified disclosure.

#### If something goes wrong

- **No rows:** the log says why for each target, for example "none passed your date or likes filter". Loosen the filters or check the link, then try again later, for example in a few hours. A run with no saved rows has no result charges, only the start fee and platform usage.
- **Fewer rows than asked:** see "How many results can you scrape?" above. Only saved rows are billed.
- **Run stopped early:** if RedNote refuses several pages in a row, the log says "RedNote refused several pages in a row, so the run stops here." The run keeps every row saved so far. Those rows are billed, and you can start the same input again later.

### 🔌 RedNote scraper integrations and API

#### Can I use it as a RedNote Xiaohongshu API?

Yes. RedNote has no public self-serve API for this data that we could find, but you can run this Actor through the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2) and get the results as JSON. Use the `apify-client` package for [Node.js](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-scraper-trending-notes-creators/api/javascript) or [Python](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-scraper-trending-notes-creators/api/python), or see all options on the [API tab](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-scraper-trending-notes-creators/api).

#### RedNote Python example

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-scraper-trending-notes-creators").call(
    run_input={"urls": ["recommend", "beauty"], "maxResults": 10, "includeAuthorProfile": True}
)
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item.get("title"), item.get("likes"), item.get("outlierScore"))
```

#### Can I integrate it with other apps?

Yes. Apify connects with Make, Zapier, n8n, Slack, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Airbyte and more through [integrations](https://apify.com/integrations). Two workflows that fit this Actor:

- **Weekly trend sheet:** run your scheduled task and use the Google Sheets integration to add each run's Viral analytics view to a sheet. Your team can then sort and filter by `engagementPerDay`.
- **Creator shortlist alert:** add a [webhook](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/webhooks) (a message Apify sends to a URL when a run event happens, such as "run succeeded"). Connect it to Make or Zapier to read the Contact hints table and post new creators to Slack or your CRM. Webhooks fire on run events, not on each new row.

#### Can I use it as a RedNote MCP tool for AI agents?

Yes. MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets AI assistants such as Claude call tools. Add the Apify MCP server and the agent can find and run this Actor. See the [MCP tab](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-scraper-trending-notes-creators/api/mcp) for setup.

### ❓ FAQ

#### Is it legal to scrape RedNote?

Scraping publicly available data is generally legal, but you must respect personal data and intellectual property rules. This Actor reads only public pages that any visitor can open. Contact hints, bios and names are personal data. Under laws such as the [GDPR](https://commission.europa.eu/law/law-topic/data-protection_en), you need a legitimate reason to store or use them. Also follow RedNote's terms. For more background, read Apify's article [Is web scraping legal?](https://blog.apify.com/is-web-scraping-legal/). This is not legal advice.

#### How does it work?

It works like you browsing RedNote without logging in, only automated. The Actor sorts your targets into channels, keywords, note links and creator links. It collects the matching public notes, reads each note for full details and applies your filters. If **Add creator stats to every note** is on, it also reads the author's public profile. Each finished row is saved right away.

#### How is it different from the RedNote (Xiaohongshu) Search Scraper?

Both read public RedNote data without an account. Pick the one that fits your goal:

| | This Actor | [RedNote (Xiaohongshu) Search Scraper](https://apify.com/insights_data/rednote-xiaohongshu-search-scraper) |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword, note and creator links | ✅ | ✅ |
| Filters | ✅ (date, minimum likes) | ✅ |
| Sorting | ❌ | ✅ |
| No account or cookies needed | ✅ | ✅ |

Pick this Actor for the trending feed and category channels, engagement analytics (engagement per day, outlier score), creator stats on every note and public contact hints. Use the Search Scraper for sorted keyword results.

#### Does it scrape the RedNote trending page?

Yes. The `recommend` channel is the main RedNote trending page (the RedNote explore page in the app). The other channels are its categories. `trending` also works as a name for `recommend`.

#### Can I use it as a RedNote profile scraper?

Yes, for creators you already know. Paste creator links and each one returns one creator row with followers, likes and saves, engagement rate, posts per week, video share and recent notes. There is no search for users by name. For a Xiaohongshu profile scraper that also lists the notes on a profile, the Creator notes table lists the recent notes RedNote shows to visitors.

#### How to find influencers on Xiaohongshu?

Start from what is trending in your category. Run your category channel and keywords with **Add creator stats to every note** on. Then shortlist Xiaohongshu KOL (key opinion leader, the Chinese marketing term for an influencer) candidates by `outlierScore`, `authorFollowers` and `engagementPerFollower`. Paste their creator links into a second run for full creator rows. This turns trending content into an influencer outreach list.

#### Why scrape RedNote trending data?

- **China market research**: see what RedNote users save, share and talk about in your category.
- **RedNote marketing strategy:** plan posts around the topics and formats that win in the trending feed.
- **Xiaohongshu competitor analysis:** track the notes about a competitor's brand keyword.
- **Trending hashtags on RedNote:** collect the `topics` of trending notes to pick hashtags.
- **Xiaohongshu viral content:** study notes with a high `engagementPerDay` or `outlierScore`.

#### Why am I getting fewer results than expected?

Check these in order:

1. Your date or likes filter is too strict. The log says when a target had notes but none passed.
2. The channel or keyword has fewer notes than you asked for (see Tips).
3. Some keyword results and plain creator links need a login. Use full share links.
4. The same note under two targets is saved once.

#### Does this work as a RedNote no login scraper?

Yes. You do not need a RedNote account, login or cookies. The trade-off is that login-only data, such as comment text, is not available.

#### Why do RedNote followers counts look rounded?

RedNote shows large or small counts as bands, such as `10+` or `1万+`. The Actor saves the floor number and keeps the shown text in fields like `authorFollowersText`, so you can see when a count is approximate.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Notes to collect for each channel or keyword. Use 0 for everything RedNote shows without a login.

## `publishedWithin` (type: `string`):

Keep only notes newer than this: 7d, 2w, 3m, 1y or a date like 2026-01-01. Leave empty for any age.

## `filterByMinLikes` (type: `integer`):

Drop notes with fewer likes than this. Use 0 to keep everything.

## `includeAuthorProfile` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the author followers, bio, region, outlier score and contact hints to each note. Turn off for faster, cheaper runs.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Runs without a proxy first. If RedNote refuses a request, the actor switches to a datacenter proxy and then to a residential proxy, and keeps using it.
