## Pricing

from $4.00 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Website Smoke Test & Monitor

Monitor public websites and catch broken pages, missing content, redirect mistakes, regex mismatches, and slow responses before users report them. This Apify Actor provides lightweight website monitoring, automated smoke testing, and content regression checks without maintaining browser infrastructure.

### Why use it?

- Detect public website failures in minutes
- Turn repeatable checks into structured JSON results
- Run manually, on a schedule, through the Apify API, or from CI/CD
- Test multiple named workflows and sequential GET steps in one run
- Keep checks safe: GET requests only, with private and loopback targets blocked

### What it checks

- HTTP status codes
- Redirect destinations
- Required and forbidden text
- Regular-expression matches
- Response-time budgets
- Multiple public pages in one workflow

Each tested step is written to the default dataset. A run summary is also saved to the `SUMMARY` key-value-store record.

### Example: website smoke test

```json
{
  "workflows": [
    {
      "name": "Public homepage",
      "steps": [
        {
          "name": "Homepage is healthy",
          "url": "https://example.com/",
          "expectStatus": 200,
          "expectText": ["Example Domain"],
          "rejectText": ["Internal Server Error"],
          "maxLatencyMs": 5000
        }
      ]
    }
  ],
  "failRunOnAssertion": false
}
```

### Result

Every step returns a structured record containing the workflow and step name, requested and final URL, HTTP status, latency, assertion results, retry count, and failure details. Set `failRunOnAssertion` to `true` when a failed assertion should fail the Actor run for CI/CD or scheduled monitoring.

### Common use cases

- Website uptime and content monitoring
- Post-deployment smoke tests
- Landing-page and documentation checks
- Redirect migration validation
- Public API endpoint checks
- Scheduled regression checks for agencies managing several sites

### Pricing

The Actor uses pay-per-event pricing:

- **$0.004 per result** (tested step)
- **$0.001 per Actor start**

A typical one-step check costs about **$0.005**. Platform usage is included in the listed event pricing.

### Safety and limits

The Actor intentionally performs **GET requests only**. It does not submit forms, log in, purchase, or send data to third-party sites. Private, loopback, and local network targets are blocked.

### FAQ

#### Can I schedule checks?

Yes. Use Apify Schedules to run the Actor at regular intervals and connect webhooks or integrations to react to failed runs.

#### Can I call it through an API?

Yes. Use the API tab on this Actor page to run it synchronously or asynchronously and retrieve dataset results.

#### Is this a full browser test runner?

No. It is a fast, deterministic HTTP workflow checker for public GET endpoints. It does not click buttons, execute purchases, or submit forms.

# Actor input Schema

## `workflows` (type: `array`):

Each workflow contains sequential GET checks.

## `failRunOnAssertion` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, the Actor run fails after saving all results if any assertion fails.

## `userAgent` (type: `string`):

HTTP User-Agent sent with each read-only GET request.

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("interactive_coat/ai-web-workflow-tester").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
