## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## GLEIF Scraper: LEI Legal Entities Search (Global Open Data)

Search and export legal entities from the GLEIF LEI database, about 3 million entities worldwide, and get clean JSON that excludes sole traders and street addresses.

This Actor is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by GLEIF, the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation.

Source: Global LEI Index, published by GLEIF under the CC0 licence. Each result links to its public record.

### What data can you get?

Each result is one legal entity that holds a Legal Entity Identifier (LEI).

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `lei` | 20-character Legal Entity Identifier |
| `name` | Registered legal name |
| `category`, `subCategory` | General (companies and other entities), fund or branch |
| `status` | Entity status, such as `ACTIVE` |
| `registryId`, `registryCode` | Number in the national business register (for example the SIREN in France) and the code of that register |
| `jurisdiction`, `legalFormCode` | Country or region of incorporation and legal form code |
| `createdAt` | Creation date of the entity |
| `country`, `region`, `city`, `postalCode` | Legal address, without street |
| `headquartersCountry`, `headquartersCity` | Headquarters location |
| `leiStatus`, `registeredAt`, `updatedAt`, `nextRenewalAt` | State and dates of the LEI record |
| `corroborationLevel`, `managingLou` | How the data was verified, and the issuer of the LEI |
| `profileUrl` | Public record on the GLEIF search site |

### How to use it

1. Enter a search text in the entity name, and choose the countries.
2. Optionally keep funds or branches, or set an update date to monitor new registrations.
3. Run the Actor, then download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or schedule it.

```json
{
### Pricing
This Actor is free to use during its launch. You only pay for Apify platform usage.
### Which entities are excluded?
- Sole traders and individual entrepreneurs, because their registered name is the name of a person.
  GLEIF flags them as `SOLE_PROPRIETOR`, and they are never requested.
- Entities whose LEI record is inactive, unless you turn this filter off.
### Limits
- Only entities that hold an LEI are covered. LEIs are mostly held by companies active on financial
  markets, banks, funds and large groups. This is not a complete company register.
- No street address, other names, parent relationships, e-mails or phone numbers.
- A run returns 10,000 entities at most. To go further, split your search by country or update date.
- Company names can contain a founder's name, because they are the registered names of legal entities.
- The search text matches the entity names, in the language they were registered.
### FAQ
#### Where does the data come from?
From the public API of the Global LEI Index, operated by GLEIF. This Actor adds filtering, cleaning and
a stable output format.
#### Does the output contain personal data?
Sole traders are excluded at the source, and street addresses, contacts and other names are not
requested. Each record is also checked before being saved, and any record that seems to contain an
e-mail or a phone number is skipped and logged.
#### How do I link a result to a national register?
Use `registryCode` and `registryId`. For French companies, `registryId` is the SIREN.
#### Why did my run return no results?
Your filters are probably too narrow. Try a shorter search text, or remove the country or date.
#### Why did my run fail with an "Invalid" message?
The message names the field to fix. Countries use 2 letters (`FR`), and dates use the `YYYY-MM-DD` format.
