## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Release & Review Watch

### English

Connect current App Store release metadata with a bounded window of recent customer reviews. Each complete check creates one Dataset observation for one app and one storefront country.

Use the Actor to detect a version or release-date change, find new or edited reviews, count 1 to 2 star reviews whose version string exactly matches the current app version, and compare storefront countries without mixing their reviews.

The Actor does not infer that a release caused a complaint. It does not treat a version string as an ordered number, claim complete review history, or report a review as removed when it leaves the recent window.

#### How to run it

1. Copy the numeric app ID from an App Store URL.
2. Add one or more two-letter storefront countries such as `us` or `gb`.
3. Choose the number of recent review pages and the maximum reviews to keep per app-country pair.
4. Reuse the same `watchId` for repeat checks.
5. Run schedules with the same `watchId` sequentially so each comparison uses the preceding accepted state.

#### Input

```json
{
  "appIds": ["324684580"],
  "countries": ["us"],
  "watchId": "spotify-release-watch",
  "maxReviewPages": 1,
  "maxReviewsPerAppCountry": 50
}
```

Run limits:

- up to 10 app IDs;
- up to 3 storefront countries;
- up to 10 review pages and 500 recent reviews per app-country pair;
- up to 120 planned source requests;
- 75-second check deadline inside the 90-second Actor timeout;
- 256 MB memory.

The app, country and page limits are joint limits. Planned requests equal `app IDs x countries x (1 lookup + review pages)` and must not exceed 120. For example, 10 apps in 3 countries can use at most 3 review pages because `10 x 3 x 4 = 120`.

#### Output

Each complete Dataset row contains the app and storefront, aggregate rating, current release metadata, prior release evidence when it changes, recent-window coverage, review-change counts, exact-current-version counts, bounded details for new or changed reviews, observation time, and a stable `observationId`.

Shortened example of a complete baseline observation:

```json
{
  "observationId": "be000b0ef833e1b0d084a0b7eb853a2e",
  "watchId": "spotify-release-watch",
  "appId": "324684580",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "country": "us",
  "currentVersion": "9.1.88",
  "observedAt": "2026-10-08T00:00:00Z",
  "status": "baseline",
  "release": {
    "version": "9.1.88",
    "releasedAt": "2026-10-01T15:03:03Z",
    "priorVersion": null,
    "priorReleasedAt": null
  },
  "coverage": {
    "complete": true,
    "requestedPages": 1,
    "pagesFetched": 1,
    "maxReviews": 50,
    "reviewWindowCount": 50,
    "windowCapReached": true
  },
  "reviews": {
    "checkedCount": 50,
    "baselineCount": 50,
    "newCount": 0,
    "changedCount": 0,
    "currentVersionReviewCount": 2,
    "negativeCurrentVersionCount": 1,
    "items": []
  },
  "releaseChanged": false
}
```

A resumed run reuses its already delivered observation and its original observation time. Start a new run with the same `watchId` to check the source again.

`baseline` records the first visible window without turning existing reviews into alerts. `updated` reports a release change or review delta. `unchanged` confirms a repeated complete check. `coverage_changed` reports a changed input window without treating newly visible older reviews as new.

#### Coverage and source health

The review source exposes a recent window of at most 10 pages and 500 reviews per app-country pair. Missing entries outside that window are not removals. Reviews are linked to the current release only when their version string exactly equals the current version.

A complete row is written only after release metadata and the pages used for the configured review window pass source checks. Reading stops when the review cap is reached, the configured pages are read, or an empty page ends the feed. If a requested source cannot be verified, the pair remains in `SUMMARY` with incomplete or unknown coverage, its previous state is retained, and no complete Dataset row is created for that pair.

#### Usage unit

A run-start fee applies even when no complete observation is produced. Completed observations are charged separately, including unchanged checks. Apify compute and proxy usage are included in the event prices. See Pricing for the current tariff.

One complete, source-verified app-country observation delivered as a Dataset row is one usage unit. `baseline`, `updated`, `unchanged`, and `coverage_changed` rows use the same unit. A source failure before a complete observation produces no Dataset row. If a run fails later after a complete row has already been delivered, that delivered observation remains a usage unit.

#### Outputs

- Dataset: one row per complete app-country observation.
- `SUMMARY`: complete and incomplete pair statuses, source coverage and delivery totals.

URL App Store.

```json
{
  "appIds": ["324684580"],
  "countries": ["us"],
  "watchId": "spotify-release-watch",
  "maxReviewPages": 1,
  "maxReviewsPerAppCountry": 50
}
```

- до 10 app ID;
- до 3 стран витрины;
- до 10 страниц и 500 последних отзывов на пару приложение-страна;
- до 120 запланированных запросов к источнику;
- 75-секундный срок проверки внутри 90-секундного таймаута Actor;

```json
{
  "observationId": "be000b0ef833e1b0d084a0b7eb853a2e",
  "watchId": "spotify-release-watch",
  "appId": "324684580",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "country": "us",
  "currentVersion": "9.1.88",
  "observedAt": "2026-10-08T00:00:00Z",
  "status": "baseline",
  "release": {
    "version": "9.1.88",
    "releasedAt": "2026-10-01T15:03:03Z",
    "priorVersion": null,
    "priorReleasedAt": null
  },
  "coverage": {
    "complete": true,
    "requestedPages": 1,
    "pagesFetched": 1,
    "maxReviews": 50,
    "reviewWindowCount": 50,
    "windowCapReached": true
  },
  "reviews": {
    "checkedCount": 50,
    "baselineCount": 50,
    "newCount": 0,
    "changedCount": 0,
    "currentVersionReviewCount": 2,
    "negativeCurrentVersionCount": 1,
    "items": []
  },
  "releaseChanged": false
}
```
