## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store & Google Play Reviews Scraper

Scrape **App Store and Google Play reviews in one run**: star rating, title, review text, app version, date, helpful votes and **developer replies**, for any app, country and language. Filter by star rating to collect **1- and 2-star complaints**, and use **monitoring mode** to get only new reviews on every scheduled run. No login, no API key.

### Why this app reviews scraper?

- **Both stores, one input.** Paste App Store and Google Play URLs or IDs side by side; the store is detected automatically.
- **Many countries per run**: `us`, `gb`, `de`, `mx`, `br`, `in`, `jp`…
- **Star filter**: only the ratings you care about (filtered reviews are free).
- **Monitoring mode (`onlyNew`)**: schedule it daily and get a feed of fresh reviews for app store monitoring, ASO and customer-support alerts.
- **Developer replies** and reply dates from Google Play.
- **Fast and cheap**: thousands of reviews per minute.

### Use cases

App store optimization (ASO), competitor analysis, bug and crash detection from reviews, sentiment analysis with AI, customer-support monitoring, product research.

### How much does it cost?

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Actor start | $0.005 per run |
| `review` | **$0.00015** per review, or $0.15 per 1,000 |

Error items and rating-filtered reviews are free. The free plan's $5 monthly credit covers about **30,000 reviews**.

### Input

| Field | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `apps` | – | App Store URL / numeric ID, Google Play URL / package name |
| `countries` | `["us"]` | Store countries |
| `language` | `en` | Google Play review language |
| `sortBy` | `newest` | `newest` or `helpful` |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | `500` | Per app and country. App Store exposes up to 500 |
| `ratings` | all | e.g. `["1", "2"]` |
| `onlyNew` | `false` | Only reviews not seen in previous runs |

```json
{
  "apps": ["https://apps.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997", "com.whatsapp"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "ratings": ["1", "2"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 300
}
```

### Output

```json
{
  "platform": "googlePlay",
  "appId": "com.whatsapp",
  "appName": "WhatsApp Messenger",
  "developer": "WhatsApp LLC",
  "country": "us",
  "language": "en",
  "reviewId": "bb98d5bd-d8aa-4ea0-89b7-a8ca128034a8",
  "rating": 1,
  "title": null,
  "text": "There are several bugs since the last update...",
  "userName": "Meta_Light",
  "userImage": "https://play-lh.googleusercontent.com/a-/...",
  "date": "2026-10-24T20:30:55.000Z",
}
```

App Store reviews also have `title` and `userUrl`.

### Translate and analyze

Reviews in many languages? Chain **Bulk Text Translator** on the dataset (`"fields": ["title", "text"]`) to get every review in English, then feed it to your AI or BI tool.

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_API_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("istmobot/app-reviews-scraper").call(run_input={"apps": ["com.spotify.music"], "ratings": ["1"]})
for r in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(r["date"], r["rating"], r["text"][:100])
```

### FAQ

**Why only 500 App Store reviews?** Apple's public review feed returns the latest 500 per country. Add more countries for more reviews.

**Google Play reviews per language?** Google Play serves reviews by language. Set `language` to get reviews written in it.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

Mix both stores in one run. App Store: app URL (apps.apple.com/.../id310633997) or numeric ID. Google Play: app URL (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatsapp) or package name (com.whatsapp).

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter store countries, e.g. us, gb, de, mx, br, in, jp. App Store reviews are separate per country; each country is scraped separately.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Google Play returns reviews written in this language, e.g. en, es, pt, de, fr, ja. App Store ignores it.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Newest reviews first, or most helpful first.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

App Store exposes up to 500 reviews per app and country. Google Play allows many thousands.

## `ratings` (type: `array`):

Optional. Keep only reviews with these ratings, e.g. 1 and 2 to collect complaints and bug reports. Empty = all ratings. Filtered-out reviews are not charged.

## `onlyNew` (type: `boolean`):

Remember reviews from previous runs and return only reviews not seen before. Schedule the Actor daily to get a feed of fresh reviews. You are only charged for new reviews.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Apify Proxy rotates IPs if a store rate-limits the run.
