## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Earnings Call Transcripts Scraper & API — LLM-ready JSON

Get **full earnings call transcripts** as clean, structured JSON: ticker, exchange, fiscal quarter, call date, participants, and **every speaker turn** tagged as *prepared remarks* or *Q\&A*. Use this earnings transcripts scraper as an affordable **earnings call transcript API** for research, quant models and **LLM / RAG financial data** pipelines. No API key, no login, no monthly subscription.

### What is Earnings Call Transcripts Scraper?

Earnings Call Transcripts Scraper collects **conference call transcripts** published by The Motley Fool (fool.com) and turns them into structured data. Filter by stock ticker and publication date, or paste transcript URLs directly.

- **No API key, no login, no browser** — it reads publicly accessible transcript pages.
- **Alternative to paid transcript APIs** — pay per transcript instead of a $50+/month subscription.
- **Speaker-segmented** — each turn becomes `{ speaker, role, section, text }`; multi-paragraph answers stay together and speaker labels are stripped from the text.
- **Prepared remarks vs Q\&A** — analyse management's script separately from analyst questions.
- **Roles** — executives get their title from the "Call participants" list (last-name matching handles "Ed" vs "Edward"), the moderator is `Operator`, sell-side questioners are `Analyst` (older transcripts include the firm, e.g. `Barclays -- Analyst`).
- **Robust** — retries with exponential backoff on rate limits and server errors, scrapes 3 pages in parallel, and a failed page becomes an error record instead of crashing the run.
- **Export anywhere** — download results as JSON, CSV, Excel, HTML, XML or JSONL, or read them through the Apify API.

#### What data can I extract with Earnings Call Transcripts Scraper?

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `ticker` | Stock ticker, e.g. `COST` |
| `exchange` | Listing exchange (NYSE, NASDAQ, …) |
| `company` | Company name |
| `fiscalQuarter` / `fiscalYear` | Company's fiscal period from the title, e.g. `Q4` / `2026` |
| `callDate` | Date the earnings call took place |
| `publishedAt` | When the transcript was published |
| `title` / `url` | Transcript title and source URL |
| `participants` | Call participants with their roles (CEO, CFO, IR…) |
| `segments` | Every speaker turn: `speaker`, `role`, `section` (`prepared` / `qa`), `text` |
| `fullText` | Whole transcript as one string (`Speaker: text` per turn) |
| `segmentCount` / `wordCount` | Number of speaker turns and words |
| `scrapedAt` | When the item was scraped |

### How can I use earnings call transcript data?

- **RAG / LLM pipelines** — chunk by speaker turn and keep metadata (ticker, quarter, section) for filtering and citations.
- **Sentiment & tone analysis** — compare management's prepared tone with how they answer analysts in Q\&A.
- **Quant research** — build features from mentions of guidance, pricing, tariffs, AI, layoffs… across hundreds of calls.
- **Competitive intelligence** — track what peers say about a market every quarter.
- **Investor research** — read or summarise every call in your portfolio as soon as it's published.

### How to get earnings call transcripts

1. Click **Try for free** to open the Actor in Apify Console (sign up free if needed).
2. Enter **tickers** (or leave empty for all companies) and a **date range**, or paste transcript URLs.
3. Choose **Max transcripts** and an **Output format**.
4. Click **Start** and wait for the run to finish.
5. Open the **Output** tab and download the dataset as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML.

### How much does it cost?

The Actor uses **pay-per-event** pricing — you only pay for transcripts delivered:

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Actor start | $0.005 per run |
| `transcript-result` | $0.01 per transcript ($10 per 1,000 transcripts) |

**Example:** 1 run × 100 transcripts = $0.005 + $1.00 = **$1.005**.

The Apify free plan includes **$5 of monthly credit**, enough for about **499 transcripts** in a single run each month. Error items are **free**. Set a **maximum cost per run** and the Actor stops cleanly once it's reached.

### ⬇️ Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `tickers` | list of strings | empty (all) | Only these tickers, e.g. `ORCL`, `COST` |
| `dateFrom` | `YYYY-MM-DD` | 30 days ago | Earliest transcript publish date |
| `dateTo` | `YYYY-MM-DD` | today | Latest transcript publish date (inclusive) |
| `maxItems` | integer | `50` | Max transcripts, newest first. `0` = no limit |
| `outputFormat` | `both` | `segments` | `fullText` | `both` | Which text fields to include |
| `startUrls` | list of URLs | empty | Scrape these fool.com transcript pages directly (ticker and date filters ignored) |

```json
{
  "tickers": ["ORCL", "ADBE", "AVGO", "COST", "LULU"],
  "dateFrom": "2026-09-01",
  "dateTo": "2026-09-30",
  "maxItems": 10,
  "outputFormat": "both"
}
```

Leave `tickers` empty to get **every** transcript published in the window (often 150–300 per month during earnings season).

### ⬆️ Output

  "url": "https://www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2026/09/29/costco-cost-q4-2026-earnings-call-transcript/",
  "title": "Costco (COST) Q4 2026 Earnings Call Transcript",
  "participants": [
    { "name": "Gary Millerchip", "role": "Chief Financial Officer" },

```
- `fiscalQuarter` / `fiscalYear` are the **company's fiscal** period as stated in the title (e.g. Oracle's September call is `Q1 2027`).
- `callDate` is the date the call took place; `publishedAt` is when the transcript was published.
- `role` can be `null` when a speaker isn't in the participants list and spoke outside Q\&A.
- The **Transcripts** table view in Apify Console shows ticker, exchange, company, quarter, fiscal year, call date, speaker turns, words, title and URL.
#### Error items
```json
{ "url": "https://www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2026/01/01/nope-xyz-q1-2026-earnings-call-transcript/", "errorType": "NOT_FOUND", "error": "Transcript page not found (HTTP 404)", "scrapedAt": "2026-10-01T01:37:15.350Z" }

`errorType` is `NOT_FOUND`, `NO_TRANSCRIPT`, `INVALID_URL` or `FETCH_FAILED`. Error items are **never charged**.

### Integrations and API

Run the Actor and fetch transcripts programmatically with the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2), using the Actor ID `istmobot/earnings-call-transcripts-scraper`.

**Python** (`pip install apify-client`):

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("istmobot/earnings-call-transcripts-scraper").call(run_input={
    "tickers": ["ORCL", "COST"],
    "dateFrom": "2026-09-01",
    "maxItems": 10,
})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item.get("ticker"), item.get("fiscalQuarter"), item.get("wordCount"))
```

**Node.js** (`npm install apify-client`):

```js
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: '<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>' });
const run = await client.actor('istmobot/earnings-call-transcripts-scraper').call({
    tickers: ['ORCL', 'COST'],
    dateFrom: '2026-09-01',
    maxItems: 10,
});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
console.log(items);
```

- **Schedules** — run daily or weekly to collect new earnings calls automatically.
- **Webhooks** — trigger your own endpoint when a run finishes.
- **Make, Zapier, n8n** — connect transcripts to Google Sheets, Slack, databases and more.
- **LangChain / LlamaIndex** — load the dataset into a vector store for RAG over earnings calls; `segments` are natural chunks.
- **AI agents** — use it from Claude, ChatGPT and other agents via the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com).

### FAQ

**Which companies are covered?** Only calls whose transcripts are published by The Motley Fool: thousands of US-listed companies per quarter, including most large and mid caps, plus many small caps and ADRs. If a call isn't published there, this Actor can't return it.

**How far back does it go?** Transcripts go back several years. Older transcripts use a slightly different page layout; both layouts are supported.

**How fast are new calls available?** Typically within 1–3 days of the call.

**Can I schedule it?** Yes. Schedule the Actor daily with `dateFrom` left empty (last 30 days) and a ticker list to collect new calls as they appear.

**How fast is it? Are there limits?** It fetches 3 transcript pages in parallel. `maxItems` (default 50, `0` = no limit) caps the number of transcripts, and a maximum cost per run stops the run cleanly.

**Why did a ticker return nothing?** Either no call was published in the date range, or the source didn't cover it. Widen the range (e.g. the last 100 days covers one full quarter).

**How is Q\&A detected?** By the transcript's "Questions & Answers" heading where present, otherwise from the operator's first question-queue announcement ("Your first question comes from…").

**Is it accurate?** The text is the source's transcript verbatim. Segmentation and roles are derived automatically and are accurate on the vast majority of calls, but unusual formats (e.g. no operator, webcast-only events) may put everything in `prepared`.

**Is it legal to scrape earnings call transcripts?** This Actor only reads publicly accessible pages; it does not log in or bypass any access controls. However, transcripts are **copyrighted by their publishers** — you are responsible for making sure your use of the data (storage, redistribution, model training, commercial use) complies with the source's terms and applicable law. If in doubt, consult a lawyer. Intended for personal research and analysis.

**Is this an official Motley Fool API?** No. This is an **unofficial** tool and is **not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Motley Fool** or any company whose calls are transcribed.
