## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Nasdaq Market Calendars API — earnings, dividends, IPOs, short interest & institutional holdings

One Actor for the market calendars on **Nasdaq.com**: the **earnings calendar**, **dividend calendar** and **IPO calendar** for any date range, plus per-symbol **short interest** history and **institutional holdings** (13F holders). Output is clean JSON with numbers already parsed: `"$3.19"` → `3.19`, `"($0.35)"` → `-0.35`, `"$118,229,410,000"` → `118229410000`, `"N/A"` → `null`, US dates → `YYYY-MM-DD`.

No browser, no login, no API key — it reads the same public JSON endpoints the nasdaq.com pages use, so runs take seconds.

### What it does

- **Earnings calendar** — every company reporting on each day: time (pre-market / after-hours), consensus EPS forecast, last year's EPS, number of estimates, market cap, fiscal quarter.
- **Dividend calendar** — by ex-dividend date: amount, annual dividend, payment, record and announcement dates.
- **IPO calendar** — per month: **priced**, **upcoming**, **filed** and **withdrawn** deals with price range, shares, offer amount, exchange and dates.
- **Short interest** — the bi-monthly short interest history (≈ last year) for each symbol: short interest, average daily volume, days to cover.
- **Institutional holdings** — the top N institutional holders per symbol, sorted by position value: shares held, change, change %, value in USD, filing date.
- Loops over days (skipping weekends) or months automatically, 3 requests in parallel, with retry and exponential backoff on rate limits and server errors.
- Optional **symbol filter** for calendars — e.g. only get earnings dates for your watchlist.

### Use cases

- **Traders & investors** — weekly earnings and ex-dividend watchlists, IPO pipeline tracking.
- **Quant / data teams** — feed an earnings-date or dividend table into a database, Google Sheets or backtests via the Apify API.
- **Short squeeze screens** — short interest and days-to-cover history for a list of tickers.
- **Ownership research** — who owns a stock, who is buying and who sold out.
- **Newsletters & bots** — schedule daily and post tomorrow's earnings to Slack / Discord / email.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `dataset` | `earnings` | `dividends` | `ipos` | `shortInterest` | `institutionalHoldings` | `earnings` | What to fetch |
| `dateFrom` | `YYYY-MM-DD` | today (UTC) | Range start (calendars only) |
| `dateTo` | `YYYY-MM-DD` | dateFrom + 7 days | Range end, inclusive, max 400 days |

| `maxItems` | integer | `1000` | Max result rows in total |
| `maxHoldersPerSymbol` | integer | `100` | Top N holders per symbol (institutional holdings) |
| `proxyConfiguration` | proxy | none | Optional Apify Proxy |

```json
{ "dataset": "earnings", "dateFrom": "2026-10-01", "dateTo": "2026-10-09", "maxItems": 1000 }
```

```json
{ "dataset": "institutionalHoldings", "symbols": ["AAPL", "NVDA"], "maxHoldersPerSymbol": 50 }
```

### Output

Every row has `dataset` and `scrapedAt`. Fields per dataset:

**earnings**

```json
{
  "dataset": "earnings",
  "date": "2026-10-01",
  "symbol": "ACN",
  "company": "Accenture plc",
  "time": "pre-market",
  "epsForecast": 3.19,
  "lastYearEPS": 3.03,
  "lastYearReportDate": "2025-09-25",
  "numEstimates": 7,
  "marketCap": 118229410000,
  "fiscalQuarterEnding": "Aug/2026",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-01T01:37:31.816Z"
}
```

`time` is `pre-market`, `after-hours` or `not-supplied`.

**dividends**

```json
{ "dataset": "dividends", "symbol": "AGNCP", "company": "AGNC Investment Corp. Depositary Shares ...", "exDate": "2026-10-01", "paymentDate": "2026-10-15", "recordDate": "2026-10-01", "announcementDate": "2026-09-09", "amount": 0.55912, "annualDividend": 2.1952 }
```

**ipos**

```json
{ "dataset": "ipos", "status": "upcoming", "symbol": "ACCV", "company": "Accelevation Holdings Corp.", "date": "2026-09-30", "exchange": "NASDAQ Global Select", "priceRange": "20.00-24.00", "priceLow": 20, "priceHigh": 24, "shares": 30000000, "offerAmount": 828000000, "expectedDate": "2026-09-30", "pricedDate": null, "filedDate": null, "withdrawnDate": null, "dealId": "1400711-119247", "month": "2026-09" }
```

`date` is the date that matters for the status (priced → priced date, upcoming → expected date, withdrawn → withdrawal date, filed → filing date).

**shortInterest**

```json
{ "dataset": "shortInterest", "symbol": "AAPL", "settlementDate": "2026-09-15", "interest": 128753092, "avgDailyVolume": 45135477, "daysToCover": 2.852592 }
```

**institutionalHoldings**

```json
{ "dataset": "institutionalHoldings", "symbol": "AAPL", "holder": "Vanguard Group Inc", "date": "2025-12-31", "shares": 1426283914, "change": 26856752, "changePercent": 1.919, "changePercentRaw": "1.919%", "value": 469817921000, "holderUrl": "https://www.nasdaq.com/market-activity/institutional-portfolio/vanguard-group-inc-61322" }
```

`value` is in USD (Nasdaq reports it in thousands; the Actor converts). `changePercentRaw` keeps Nasdaq's text when there is no number (`"New"`, `"Sold Out"`).

**Error item** (never charged)

```json
{ "dataset": "shortInterest", "symbol": "IBM", "errorType": "NOT_AVAILABLE", "error": "Short interest is not available. Short interest is only supported for Nasdaq Listed stocks" }
```

`errorType` is `NOT_FOUND`, `NOT_AVAILABLE` or `FETCH_FAILED`.

### Pricing

Pay-per-event:

- **Actor start** — small fixed fee per run.
- **`result`** — per result row in the dataset.

Error items are free. Set a maximum cost per run and the Actor stops cleanly once it is reached; `maxItems` caps the rows too.

### FAQ

**Why do I get `NOT_AVAILABLE` for short interest on NYSE stocks?** Nasdaq.com only publishes short interest for Nasdaq-listed stocks. Institutional holdings work for NYSE stocks too.

**How far ahead / back can I go?** Whatever nasdaq.com shows: earnings are usually announced a few weeks ahead, dividends are available for past dates too, the IPO calendar keeps history by month.

**Why are some EPS forecasts `null`?** Nasdaq has no consensus for that company (blank or `N/A` on the site).

**Does it skip holidays?** Weekends are skipped. Market holidays simply return no rows (no charge).

**Do I need a proxy?** Usually not. Nasdaq's API occasionally throttles or stalls cloud IPs; the Actor retries with backoff, and if you still see `FETCH_FAILED` items, enable Apify Proxy (residential works best).

**Is the IPO "upcoming" list repeated for every month?** No — Nasdaq returns the same live upcoming list for any month; the Actor de-duplicates it.

# Actor input Schema

## `dataset` (type: `string`):

What to fetch. Calendars (earnings, dividends, IPOs) loop over the date range; short interest and institutional holdings are fetched per symbol.

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

First day of the calendar range (YYYY-MM-DD). Empty = today (UTC). Ignored for per-symbol datasets.

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

Last day of the range (YYYY-MM-DD), inclusive. Empty = dateFrom + 7 days. Weekends are skipped for earnings and dividends; IPOs are fetched per month. Max 400 days.

## `symbols` (type: `array`):

Tickers, e.g. AAPL, MSFT. Required for short interest and institutional holdings. For calendars it is an optional filter (only rows for these symbols are returned).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many result rows in total.

## `maxHoldersPerSymbol` (type: `integer`):

Institutional holdings only: top N holders per symbol, sorted by position value (large caps have 5,000+ holders).

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Nasdaq's API sometimes throttles or hangs on cloud (datacenter) IPs; if you see timeouts, enable Apify Proxy (RESIDENTIAL works best).

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "dataset": "earnings",
  "symbols": [],
  "maxItems": 200,
  "maxHoldersPerSymbol": 100,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
