## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Ecuador Judicial Records Lookup (Información Judicial Individual)

Query the **Función Judicial** "Información Judicial Individual" service by cédula or RUC. It returns the criminal-matter proceedings and rulings (providencias) registered for a person: case number, offence, court, province and dates. It calls the portal's JSON services directly (no browser), so it is fast and cheap to run.

For civil, labor, family and other cases use the companion Actor *Ecuador Judicial Cases Lookup*.

### Input

```json
{
  "consultas": ["0919815100", "1790016919001"],
  "maxRegistrosPorConsulta": 200,
  "concurrencia": 2,
  "reintentos": 3
}
```

| Field | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| `consultas` | List of cédulas (10 digits) or RUC (13 digits) | required |
| `maxRegistrosPorConsulta` | Max records returned per ID | `200` |
| `concurrencia` | Max parallel requests | `2` |
| `reintentos` | Retries with exponential backoff on network/server errors (4xx are not retried) | `3` |

### Output

One dataset item per record (one row per ruling). An ID that is invalid, has no records or fails is saved with `error` filled in in a separate dataset called `errores` (Storage tab of the run) and **you are not charged for it**; the run continues.

```json
{
  "consulta": "0919815100",
  "numeroProceso": "24281202101083",
  "nombre": "BRAVO GARCIA MARIUXI ELIZABETH",
  "materia": "PENAL COIP",
  "tipoAccion": "ACCIÓN PENAL PÚBLICA",
  "delito": "196 HURTO, INC.1",
  "judicatura": "UNIDAD JUDICIAL PENAL CON SEDE EN EL CANTÓN LA LIBERTAD, PROVINCIA DE SANTA ELENA",
  "provincia": "SANTA ELENA",
  "estado": "A",
  "fechaProvidencia": "2022-07-15",
  "error": null
}
```

Fields: `consulta`, `numeroProceso`, `nombre`, `materia`, `tipoAccion`, `delito`, `judicatura`, `provincia`, `estado`, `fechaProvidencia`, `error`.

### Use cases

- **KYC / due diligence**: check judicial records of a counterparty or beneficial owner.
- **AML**: spot criminal proceedings relevant to financial crime.
- **Risk analysis**: complement the Fiscalía and Función Judicial case lookups.

### Limitations

- Search is by cédula/RUC only. Name search did not return results in testing, so it is not supported.
- A proceeding or ruling in this service is **not necessarily a conviction**; read the case before drawing conclusions. This is not an official criminal-record certificate.
- Placeholder values such as `9999999999` return records of unrelated people. Validate IDs first.
- Data is whatever the portal publishes at query time; the Actor does not certify it.
- The portal may change or throttle traffic; keep `concurrencia` low.

### Responsible use of personal data

This service returns judicial data of identifiable people, which can be sensitive. Under Ecuador's **Ley Orgánica de Protección de Datos Personales (LOPDP)** you need a legitimate purpose and a legal basis, must process only what is necessary and respect data subjects' rights, including the presumption of innocence. Do not use results to discriminate or to publish information about individuals. You are responsible for your use of the data. This Actor is not affiliated with the Consejo de la Judicatura.
