## Pricing

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## UK Companies House - Company Register

The UK register of companies currently on file, from **Companies House's
official open bulk data**: **~5.7M companies**, refreshed monthly. Every record carries the
company number, name, status, category, registered address, incorporation
date, up to **four SIC codes**, up to **ten previous names**, accounts and
confirmation-statement dates, and the mortgage charge counters.

As of the **2026-10-01 monthly file** (built 2026-10-18): **5,704,711
companies** - 5,166,057 `Active`
(90.6%), 423,006 `Active - Proposal to Strike off`, 5,276,662 `Private
Limited Company`.

### Low cost

**From $0.00005 per record, down to $0.00003 at Gold.** Pay only for the
records you actually receive - the whole register stays queryable, you are
never billed for the scan behind it.

### What you get per company

| field group | fields |
|---|---|
| identity | `companyNumber`, `companyName`, `companyStatus`, `companyCategory` |
| lifecycle | `incorporationDate`, `countryOfOrigin` |
| registered office | `regAddressCareOf`, `regAddressPOBox`, `regAddressLine1`, `regAddressLine2`, `regPostTown`, `regAddressCounty`, `regAddressCountry`, `regPostCode` |
| business activity | `sicCodes`, `sicTexts` (all four SIC slots) |
| filing dates | `accountsRefDay`, `accountsRefMonth`, `accountsNextDueDate`, `accountsLastMadeUpDate`, `accountsCategory`, `returnsNextDueDate`, `returnsLastMadeUpDate`, `confStmtNextDueDate`, `confStmtLastMadeUpDate` |
| charges | `numMortCharges`, `numMortOutstanding`, `numMortPartSatisfied`, `numMortSatisfied` |
| partnerships | `numGenPartners`, `numLimPartners` |
| history | `previousNames` (up to ten, with change dates) |
| links | `companyUrl` |

### Search it

- **Name** - `companyName="TESCO"` (substring, case-insensitive).
- **Exact id** - `companyNumber="08209948"` (or `SC`, `OC`, `NI` numbers).
- **Status** - `status="Active"`, `"Active - Proposal to Strike off"`,
  `"Liquidation"`, `"In Administration"`. `activeOnly=true` keeps every
  status beginning with `Active`.
- **Legal form** - `category="Private Limited Company"`,
  `"Limited Liability Partnership"`, `"Public Limited Company"`.
- **Activity** - `sicCode="62020"` (IT consultancy) or a section prefix such
  as `"62"` (information and communication). Matches any of the four SIC slots.
- **Where** - `postcode="EC2A"` (registered-office prefix).
- **When** - `incorporatedFrom` / `incorporatedTo` (YYYY-MM-DD).

### Example inputs

**Find companies by name** - the KYB starting point.

```json
{ "companyName": "TESCO", "maxResults": 20 }
```

**One company, in full** - every field in the register.

```json
{ "companyNumber": "08209948" }
```

**IT consultancies by SIC** - matches all four SIC slots.

```json
{ "sicCode": "62020", "maxResults": 25 }
```

**Active companies in one postcode area**

```json
{ "postcode": "EC2A", "activeOnly": true, "maxResults": 20 }
```

**Counts by status** - `mode=aggregate`.

```json
{ "mode": "aggregate", "groupBy": "status" }
```

### Or roll it up

`mode=aggregate` returns one count row per group - **status**, **category**,
**SIC section**, **incorporation year**, **country of origin** or **accounts
category**. The default (empty) run answers the whole-register summary from a
small precomputed record.

### Example output

**One company** - `mode=company`:

```json
{
 "companyNumber": "08209948",
 "companyName": "! LTD",
 "companyStatus": "Active",
 "companyCategory": "Private Limited Company",
 "countryOfOrigin": "United Kingdom",
 "incorporationDate": "2012-09-11",
 "regAddressLine1": "9 PRINCES SQUARE",
 "regPostTown": "HARROGATE",
 "regAddressCountry": "ENGLAND",
 "regPostCode": "HG1 1ND",
 "sicCodes": "99999",
 "sicTexts": "Dormant Company",
 "accountsRefDay": "30",
 "accountsRefMonth": "9",
 "accountsNextDueDate": "2027-06-30",
 "accountsLastMadeUpDate": "2025-09-30",
 "accountsCategory": "DORMANT",
 "returnsNextDueDate": "2016-10-09",
 "returnsLastMadeUpDate": "2015-09-11",
 "confStmtNextDueDate": "2027-09-25",
 "confStmtLastMadeUpDate": "2026-09-11",
 "numMortCharges": "0",
 "numMortOutstanding": "0",
 "numMortPartSatisfied": "0",
 "numMortSatisfied": "0",
 "previousNames": "",
 "companyUrl": "https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/08209948"
}
```

### Notes on the data, from the source

- **One row = one company.** `companyNumber` is unique.
- **Companies on the register, not only active ones.** The BasicCompanyData
  product lists every company currently on the register - including companies
  in liquidation, administration, receivership or a voluntary arrangement -
  but not dissolved companies, so no dissolution date or dissolved-company
  filter is offered.
- **Monthly refresh.** Companies House publishes each month's file within five
  working days of the previous month end; every record carries
  `refreshedDate` so you can see the snapshot it came from.
- **One run returns up to 5,000 companies.** Narrow the filters (name, SIC,
  postcode, status or incorporation dates) to reach a specific slice.
- **Registered office, not trading address.** The address fields are the
  company's registered office as filed with Companies House.
- **Licence.** Open Government Licence v3 - commercial reuse is expressly
  permitted, with attribution to Companies House.
- **Scope.** This actor covers the company register. Companies House
  publishes director/officer and PSC (persons with significant control)
  products separately; they are not part of this dataset.
