## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## EU Green Claims Checker: Greenwashing Scanner for Online Stores

💰 **$2 per 1,000 pages scanned**, plus **$5 per 1,000 AI-reviewed findings** (optional). A Shopify store with 300 products costs about **$0.60**, plus a few cents of Apify platform usage. No subscription, no API key.

From **27 September 2026**, the EU **Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (EmpCo, Directive 2024/825)**
bans common green marketing claims across all EU countries. Words like *eco-friendly*, *sustainable*, *climate neutral*
or a self-made *eco-certified* badge can now be an unfair commercial practice.

This Actor scans your online store (or your clients' stores) and lists every risky claim with the **exact sentence,
the page, the rule it breaks, the legal basis and how to fix it**, plus a shareable **HTML audit report**.

### What it checks

| Rule | Example | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Climate-neutral claims based on offsetting (Annex I, 4c) | "carbon neutral delivery", "klimaneutral" | High |
| Generic environmental claims (Annex I, 4a) | "eco-friendly", "sustainable", "écoresponsable" | High (medium with EU Ecolabel) |
| Claims about the whole product or business (Annex I, 4b) | "100% sustainable", "zero waste" | Medium |
| Self-made sustainability labels (Annex I, 2a) | "eco-certified", "green badge" | Medium |
| Future claims without a verified plan (Art. 6(2)(d)) | "net zero by 2030" | Medium |
| Specific claims to keep evidence for (optional) | "80% recycled polyester", "organic cotton" | Low |

**Languages:** English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch, detected per page.

**Fewer false alarms:** colours ("forest green"), "durable" meaning long-lasting, and "Sustainable Development Goals"
are ignored. If the page mentions the **EU Ecolabel** or another official EN ISO 14024 ecolabel (Nordic Swan, Blauer
Engel…), generic claims are downgraded and flagged for you to check.

**AI review (paid Apify plans):** each finding is checked in context, false alarms are marked, and you get a
**compliant rewrite in the page's language**, with placeholders like `[X]%` instead of invented facts.

### Who it is for

- **Shopify and e-commerce brands** selling into the EU, before the rules apply.
- **Agencies, consultants and compliance teams** auditing many client stores at once.
- **Marketplaces and retailers** checking supplier product copy.

### How to use it

1. Paste one or more **store URLs**.
2. Set **Max pages per store** (each product or page counts as one).
3. Run it, then open **Audit report (HTML)** in the Output tab, or export the findings to CSV, Excel or JSON.

#### How stores are read

- **Shopify stores:** every product title and description from the store's public product feed, plus the home page and
  sustainability/about pages, where brand-level claims usually sit.
- **Other websites (WooCommerce, Magento, custom):** the home page, product URLs from the sitemap and same-site links,
  sustainability pages first.

The same sentence on many pages (a footer or a shared description) is reported **once**, with the number of pages.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "storeUrls": ["https://www.example-store.com", "https://shop.example.de"],
  "maxPagesPerStore": 500,
  "includeSpecificClaims": false,
  "aiReview": true
}
```

### What you get

**Findings:** `severity`, `claim`, `sentence` (context), `ruleTitle`, `legalBasis`, `advice`, `aiRewrite`, `aiReason`,
`appearsOnPages`, `pageUrl`, `storeUrl`, `language`.

**Stores:** `riskLevel`, `pagesScanned`, `high` / `medium` / `low` counts and `topClaims`.

**REPORT.html:** a clean report to send to a client or legal team.

### Pricing

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Page or product scanned | $0.002 ($2 per 1,000) |
| Finding reviewed by AI (paid plans, optional) | $0.005 ($5 per 1,000) |

| Store size | Scan cost | With AI on 50 findings |
|---|---|---|
| 100 products | ~$0.20 | ~$0.45 |
| 1,000 products | ~$2.00 | ~$2.25 |

Plus Apify platform usage (a few cents per run). Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops
when it is reached.

### Good to know

- **Not legal advice.** This is an automated first pass. Claims depend on context and evidence; ask a lawyer before
  making final decisions.
- It reads only **public text** on product and store pages. It does not log in, and it collects **no personal data**.
- Images, badges inside images and videos are not checked.
- If many pages fail, switch the proxy to the RESIDENTIAL group or lower **Parallel requests**.

# Actor input Schema

## `storeUrls` (type: `array`):

One online store per line, e.g. https://www.example-store.com. Shopify stores are read through their public product feed; other sites through the home page, sitemap and links.

## `maxPagesPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Products and pages to scan per store. Each one counts as one scanned page.

## `languages` (type: `array`):

Leave empty to detect the language of each page. English terms are always checked.

## `includeBrandPages` (type: `boolean`):

Also scan the home page and sustainability/about pages of Shopify stores, where many brand-level claims live (up to 15 pages).

## `includeSpecificClaims` (type: `boolean`):

Also list specific claims such as '80% recycled polyester' or 'organic cotton' (low risk, allowed if you can prove them).

## `aiReview` (type: `boolean`):

Paid Apify plans: AI checks each finding in context, removes false alarms and suggests a compliant rewrite in the page's language.

## `maxAIFindings` (type: `integer`):

Highest-risk findings first. 0 turns AI review off.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Pages fetched at the same time per store.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy helps with stores that block data-center traffic. Switch to RESIDENTIAL if many pages fail.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "storeUrls": [
    "https://www.allbirds.com"
  ],
  "maxPagesPerStore": 20,
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `report` (type: `string`):

Shareable report: risk per store and every finding with legal basis and fix.

## `findings` (type: `string`):

One row per claim: risk, context, rule, legal basis, how to fix, AI rewrite and page.

## `stores` (type: `string`):

Risk level and finding counts per store.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Totals, AI review status and blocked pages.
