## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## FMCSA New Trucking Companies: Daily New DOT Carrier Leads

Get **every newly registered US trucking company** (new USDOT numbers) straight from the official FMCSA Company Census, the U.S. DOT open data that is updated daily. Each record includes the company name, officer, **phone, email**, physical address, fleet size, drivers and cargo types. Filter by registration date, state, fleet size, operation type and email availability.

About **3,700 new carriers** registered in the first 10 days of October 2026. Reach them in their first weeks, when they are shopping for insurance, factoring, ELDs and fuel cards.

### Who uses this

- **Commercial truck insurance agents:** new carriers need liability and cargo coverage before they can haul.
- **Freight factoring and fintech:** new fleets need cash flow on day one.
- **ELD, dashcam and telematics vendors:** new carriers need an ELD to comply with the mandate.
- **Fuel cards, truck dealers, leasing, parts:** buyers with new fleets.
- **Compliance and permitting consultants:** UCR, IFTA, drug and alcohol programs, BOC-3.
- **Load boards, dispatchers and brokers:** onboarding new capacity.
- **Researchers and journalists:** tracking how many new trucking companies form, by state.

### What you get (every record)

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| dotNumber | 4642138 |
| legalName / dbaName | MRK TRANSPORT INC |
| registeredDate | 2026-10-09 |
| status | A (active) |
| operation | Interstate / Intrastate Hazmat / Intrastate Non-Hazmat |
| classification | AUTHORIZED FOR HIRE; PRIVATE PROPERTY |
| officer | Company officer (when filed) |
| phone, email | 3216241733, mrktransportinc@yahoo.com |
| street, city, state, zip | 6035 FANNETT RD, BEAUMONT, TX 77705 |
| powerUnits, trucks, drivers, cdlDrivers | 2, 1, 1, 1 |
| hazmat | false |
| cargo | \["Building Materials", "Construction"] |
| safer | Link to the FMCSA SAFER snapshot |

### Quick start

1. Set **Registered in the last N days** (e.g. 7) and pick **States** (e.g. TX, FL).
2. Optional: **Min power units** = 2 to skip one-truck owner-operators, and **Only records with email** = on.
3. Run, then export to CSV, Excel or JSON, or pull results through the API.
4. **Daily feed:** add a Schedule (e.g. every morning, `daysBack` = 1) and connect it to Google Sheets, HubSpot, Zapier, Make or a webhook.

#### Example input

```json
{ "daysBack": 7, "states": ["TX", "FL"], "minPowerUnits": 2, "requireEmail": true, "maxItems": 500 }
```

### Sample output

```json
{
  "dotNumber": "4642138", "legalName": "MRK TRANSPORT INC", "registeredDate": "2026-10-09",
  "operation": "Intrastate Non-Hazmat", "phone": "3216241733", "email": "mrktransportinc@yahoo.com",
  "city": "BEAUMONT", "state": "TX", "zip": "77705-7005", "powerUnits": 2, "drivers": 1,
  "hazmat": false, "cargo": ["Building Materials", "Construction"],
  "safer": "https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.asp?searchtype=ANY&query_type=queryCarrierSnapshot&query_param=USDOT&query_string=4642138"
}
```

### Pricing

**$3 per 1,000 results** ($0.003 per carrier), plus a negligible start fee. No proxies and no subscription. Examples:

- One week of Texas carriers with email (~300 records) ≈ **$0.90**
- A daily national feed (~370 records/day) ≈ **$1.10/day**
- Use `maxItems` to cap spend.

### Why this actor

- **Official source:** the FMCSA census via data.transportation.gov, not scraped HTML. Fast (a few seconds) and stable.
- **Cheaper:** many comparable actors charge $4–8 per 1,000.
- **Lead-ready filters:** state, fleet size, operation type and email-only, so you only pay for records you'll use.
- **Clean output:** decoded operation types, cargo lists, booleans and a SAFER link on every record.

### FAQ

**How fresh is the data?** FMCSA publishes census updates daily. New USDOT numbers usually appear within 1–3 days of registration.

**Does it include MC numbers or authority status?** Not yet. This feed is keyed on the USDOT registration date. Use the SAFER link to check operating authority.

**Why do some records have no email or officer?** Carriers aren't required to file every field. Turn on *Only records with email* to filter.

**Can I get historical data?** Yes. Set `daysBack` up to 365.

**Can I use it with AI agents?** Yes, through the Apify API or MCP server. The output schema is documented field by field.

### Compliance note

The data is public U.S. government information. You are responsible for how you use it. Follow **CAN-SPAM** for email and **TCPA / DNC rules** for calls and texts, honor opt-outs, and don't use the data for any purpose prohibited by law (e.g. FCRA-regulated eligibility decisions). This actor is not affiliated with FMCSA or U.S. DOT.
