## Pricing

from $1.40 / 1,000 profiles

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## GitHub Users & Organizations Scraper — emails, websites, LinkedIn

Find **developers and tech companies on GitHub** by location, programming language, followers or any GitHub search, or take the **contributors of any repository**, and get each profile with public email, website, company, location, LinkedIn and other social accounts, followers and repository count.

Use it for **recruiting** (Python developers in Berlin with 100+ followers), **B2B lead generation** (open-source companies and dev-tool makers in a country), **developer relations and community outreach**, or to map who contributes to a project.

### Why this one

- **Organizations with public email, no token needed**: companies and projects on GitHub often publish a contact email; you get it with website, location, X/Twitter and verified status.
- **Developers too**: name, company, location, bio, website, hireable flag, LinkedIn and other social links. GitHub shows developers' public emails only to signed-in requests, so add your own free token to get them (see below).
- **Search the way you think**: location, language, minimum followers and account type as simple fields, or any GitHub search syntax.
- **Repository contributors**: `owner/repo` → every contributor with their contribution count.
- **Lead filters**: only with email, only available for hire. Filtered-out profiles are free.
- **Handles GitHub's rate limits** by rotating Apify Proxy IPs automatically.
- **Pay per profile**, platform usage included.

### Input

```json
{
  "accountType": "org",
  "location": "Berlin",
  "language": "typescript",
  "minFollowers": 20,
  "repositories": ["fastapi/fastapi"],
  "maxItemsPerSource": 300,
  "onlyWithEmail": true
}
```

#### Developer emails (optional token)

GitHub hides users' public emails from anonymous requests. Create a token at **github.com/settings/tokens** (classic or fine-grained, no permissions needed) and paste it into `githubToken`: developers who made their email public then come with it, and lookups are faster. The token is stored as a secret input and only used to call the GitHub API.

### Output

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `login`, `name`, `accountType`, `url` | the account (`user` or `organization`) |
| `email`, `website`, `company`, `location` | contacts |
| `linkedin`, `twitter`, `socialAccounts` | social links listed on the profile |
| `bio`, `hireable`, `isVerified` | profile details |
| `followers`, `following`, `publicRepos`, `publicGists`, `createdAt`, `updatedAt` | activity |
| `contributions`, `repository` | when found as a repository contributor |
| `source` | the search or repository that found it |

### Example output

One real item from a test run (long texts and lists shortened):

```json
{
  "type": "profile",
  "source": "search: location:Berlin type:org",
  "login": "ueberdosis",
  "name": "Tiptap",
  "accountType": "organization",
  "url": "https://github.com/ueberdosis",
  "email": "humans@tiptap.dev",
  "website": "https://tiptap.dev",
  "company": null,
  "location": "Berlin, Germany",
  "bio": "The developer toolkit for modern content editing infrastructure",
  "hireable": null,
  "isVerified": true,
  "linkedin": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/tiptapdev/",
  "twitter": "https://twitter.com/tiptap_editor",
  "socialAccounts": {
    "twitter": "https://twitter.com/tiptap_editor",
    "linkedin": "https://www.linkedin.com/company/tiptapdev/"
  },
  "followers": 708,
  "following": 0,
  "publicRepos": 40,
  "publicGists": 0,
  "createdAt": "2016-01-28T14:21:50Z",
  "updatedAt": "2026-10-23T06:34:16Z",
  "avatarUrl": "https://avatars.githubusercontent.com/u/16939337?v=4",
  "id": 16939337
}
```

### Limits

Only data people and organizations chose to make public is returned. GitHub lets anyone browse up to 1,000 results per search: for bigger audiences, run several searches split by location, language or follower ranges.

### Feedback

Found a bug, a site change, or need an extra field? Open an issue in the **Issues** tab: every issue is read and answered. If this actor saved you time, a **review** helps other people find it.

### How much does it cost?

You pay only for results delivered, at a fixed price per item. **Apify platform usage is included** in that price, so there are no compute costs on top. Errors and items that couldn't be found are free.

| What you get | Price | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Profile | $0.002 each | 1,000 profiles = $2.00 |

The Apify **Free plan includes $5 of monthly credit**, enough for about **2,500 profiles** per month at no cost. You can also set a maximum spend per run.

On paid Apify plans it gets cheaper automatically: **10% off on Starter, 20% on Scale and 30% on Business**.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

GitHub user search, same syntax as github.com/search (e.g. 'data engineer', 'repos:>20'). Combined with the fields below. Leave empty to use only the fields below.

## `accountType` (type: `string`):

Organizations return their public email without a token.

## `location` (type: `string`):

City or country as written on profiles (e.g. 'Berlin', 'Brazil').

## `language` (type: `string`):

Main language of their repositories (e.g. python, typescript, go).

## `minFollowers` (type: `integer`):

Only accounts with at least this many followers.

## `usernames` (type: `array`):

Specific accounts: 'torvalds', 'github.com/stripe', or a github.com/search URL.

## `repositories` (type: `array`):

Get the contributors of these repositories: 'owner/repo' or github.com/owner/repo.

## `maxItemsPerSource` (type: `integer`):

GitHub lets anyone browse up to 1,000 results per search; split big searches by location or followers.

## `onlyWithEmail` (type: `boolean`):

Skip accounts without a public email (skipped ones are free). For developer (user) emails, add your GitHub token below.

## `onlyHireable` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only developers who marked themselves as available for hire.

## `includeSocialAccounts` (type: `boolean`):

LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Mastodon, Bluesky, YouTube and other links listed on the profile.

## `githubToken` (type: `string`):

A personal access token (no scopes needed, github.com/settings/tokens). GitHub only shows developers' public emails to signed-in requests; with a token you also get 5,000 profile lookups per hour. Organizations' emails work without it.

## `proxy` (type: `object`):

Used automatically when GitHub rate-limits the server IP.
