## Pricing

from $0.70 / 1,000 patents

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Patents Scraper — Patents by Keyword, Company & Inventor

Search **Google Patents** by **keywords, assignee (company), inventor, country / patent office, date range and status**: publication number, title, snippet, assignee, inventors, **priority, filing, publication and grant dates**, language and the **PDF link**. Turn on **details** for the **full abstract, number of claims, CPC classifications, legal status, expiration date and how many patents it cites and is cited by**.

Built for **IP and patent research, competitor technology monitoring, prior-art searches, R\&D scouting and innovation analytics**.

### Why this one

- **Company and inventor filters** combined with keywords and countries.
- **Date ranges that actually work**: results are filtered on the date you choose (priority, filing or publication).
- **CPC classes and citation counts** in detailed mode, ready for landscape analysis.
- **PDF links** for every patent.

### Input

Tesla battery patents in the US since 2023, with details:

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["battery"],
  "assignees": ["Tesla"],
  "countries": ["US"],
  "dateFrom": "2023-01-01",
  "maxPatentsPerSearch": 200,
  "includeDetails": true
}
```

### Output

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `publicationNumber`, `title`, `snippet`, `url`, `pdf`, `thumbnail` | patent |
| `assignee`, `inventors` | owners |
| `priorityDate`, `filingDate`, `publicationDate`, `grantDate`, `language` | dates |
| `abstract`, `claimsCount`, `cpcClassifications`, `legalStatus`, `expirationDate` | detailed mode |
| `assigneeOriginal`, `assigneeCurrent`, `citedPatents`, `citedBy` | detailed mode |
| `search` | which search returned it |

### Example output

One real item from a test run (long texts and lists shortened):

```json
{
  "type": "patent",
  "publicationNumber": "USRE44994E1",
  "title": "Augmented vehicle seat mount",
  "snippet": "A vehicle seat mounting assembly is provided in which the seat mounts are attached to body cross-members that are, in turn, mechanically coupled to battery p...",
  "assignee": "Tesla Motors, Inc.",
  "inventors": [
    "Peter D. Rawlinson"
  ],
  "priorityDate": "2010-12-22",
  "filingDate": "2013-04-16",
  "publicationDate": "2014-07-08",
  "grantDate": "2014-07-08",
  "language": "en",
  "pdf": "https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/c9/da/70/0b09468dd5bf01/USRE44994.pdf",
  "thumbnail": "https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/e4/5c/f8/930fd494d48424/USRE044994-20140708-D00000.png",
  "url": "https://patents.google.com/patent/USRE44994E1/en",
  "search": "Tesla"
}
```

### Tips

- Assignee names match broadly ("Tesla" also matches other companies with Tesla in the name); add keywords or countries to focus.
- Google Patents shows up to 1,000 results per search; split by date range for more.

### Feedback

Found a problem or need a field? Open an issue in the **Issues** tab: every issue is read and answered. If the actor helped you, a review on the Store helps a lot.

### How much does it cost?

You pay only for results delivered, at a fixed price per item. **Apify platform usage is included** in that price, so there are no compute costs on top. Errors and items that couldn't be found are free.

| What you get | Price | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Patent with details | $0.003 each | 1,000 patents with details = $3.00 |
| Patent | $0.001 each | 1,000 patents = $1.00 |

The Apify **Free plan includes $5 of monthly credit**, enough for about **1,666 patents with details** per month at no cost. You can also set a maximum spend per run.

On paid Apify plans it gets cheaper automatically: **10% off on Starter, 20% on Scale and 30% on Business**.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

One search per line. Google Patents syntax works (e.g. 'battery AND (solid OR state)').

## `assignees` (type: `array`):

Patent owners, e.g. 'Tesla', 'Samsung Electronics'. Applied to every keyword search (or searched alone).

## `inventors` (type: `array`):

Inventor names.

## `maxPatentsPerSearch` (type: `integer`):

Google Patents shows up to 1,000 results per search; split by date range for more.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):
