## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews & App Summary (Multi-Country)

Get **Apple App Store reviews** and a **per-country app summary** for many apps and many countries in a single run. The Actor reads Apple's own public endpoints (customer reviews RSS feed and the iTunes lookup API), so it needs **no login, no proxy and no browser**. That keeps runs fast, cheap and stable.

### What you get

**Review rows** (`type = review`)

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| `appId`, `country` | `389801252`, `us` |
| `rating` | `4` |
| `title`, `text` | review title and body |
| `userName` | public App Store nickname (no profile links) |
| `appVersion` | `451.0.0` |
| `updatedAt` | `2026-10-14T10:30:50.000Z` |
| `voteSum`, `voteCount` | helpful votes / total votes |
| `reviewId`, `sortSource` | Apple review ID, which order it was found in |

**App summary rows** (`type = app-summary`, one per app × country)

- App name, bundle ID, developer, genre
- Average rating and total rating count in that country's store
- Current version and its release date, first release date, price
- Star and version breakdown of the reviews collected in this run

Rows of type `error` explain an app × country pair that could not be fetched (for example, the app is not sold in that country).

### Why this Actor

- **Many apps × many countries in one run.** Track your app and competitors across markets.
- **Up to ~1,000 reviews per app and country.** Apple caps each feed order at 500 reviews; choose *Both* to merge "most recent" and "most helpful" with duplicates removed.
- **Daily monitoring.** Use `since` to get only new reviews, and `ratings` = 1, 2 to get only complaints.
- **Keyword filter.** Keep only reviews that mention "crash", "login", "price", etc.
- **Summary rows included.** See rating and version trends without extra tools.

### Input example

```json
{
    "apps": ["389801252", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580"],
    "countries": ["us", "gb", "de"],
    "sortBy": "both",
    "maxReviewsPerApp": 500,
    "since": "2026-10-01",
    "ratings": ["1", "2"],
    "keywords": ["crash", "bug"],
    "includeAppSummary": true
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event:

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Review row | $0.0003 ($0.30 per 1,000 reviews) |
| App summary row (per app × country) | $0.002 |
| Actor start (Apify standard event) | $0.00005 per run ($0.05 per 1,000 runs) |

You are only charged for rows that are saved to your dataset. Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops cleanly when it is reached.

### Limits and notes

- Apple serves at most 10 pages × 50 reviews per app, country and order. Older reviews are not available through this feed.
- Reviews are country-specific: a US review does not appear in the GB feed.
- Only public data is collected. Reviewer profile links are not stored and no cross-app user profiles are built.
- Requests are rate-limited politely with retries and backoff.

### FAQ

**Where do I find the app ID?** It is the number after `id` in the App Store URL, e.g. `https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252` → `389801252`. You can paste the full URL.

**Can I get Google Play reviews?** Not with this Actor.

**Is it legal?** The Actor only reads public data that Apple publishes through its official feeds. You are responsible for how you use the data (e.g. privacy rules in your jurisdiction).

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

App Store app IDs (e.g. 389801252) or app URLs (e.g. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252). One per line.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter App Store country codes (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2), e.g. us, gb, de, jp. Each app is fetched once per country. Reviews are country-specific.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Apple returns at most 500 reviews per app, country and order. 'Both' merges most recent and most helpful (deduplicated) to get up to ~1,000.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many reviews for each app × country. 0 = only the app summary, no reviews.

## `since` (type: `string`):

Optional. Keep only reviews updated on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD). Useful for daily monitoring.

## `ratings` (type: `array`):

Optional. Keep only reviews with these star ratings, e.g. 1 and 2 to find complaints. Empty = all ratings.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Optional. Keep only reviews whose title or text contains at least one of these words (case-insensitive).

## `includeAppSummary` (type: `boolean`):

Add one summary row per app × country: average rating, total rating count, current version, release date, and the version/star breakdown of the reviews collected in this run.
