## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Steam Reviews Scraper: Reviews, Playtime & Game Data

Scrape Steam user reviews for any game: review text, thumbs up or down, playtime when reviewed, helpful and funny votes, developer replies and the reviewer's library size. Add game details too: price, discount, genres, developers, release date and Steam's review score totals. Works in every Steam language.

### What you get

- **Reviews**: text, recommended or not, created and updated dates, votes, comment count, Steam Deck flag, early-access flag, free-key flag and developer response.
- **Reviewer stats**: playtime at review, total playtime, playtime in the last two weeks, games owned and number of reviews written.
- **Game record**: name, price and discount for your chosen store country, genres, categories, platforms, developers, publishers, release date, Metacritic score and Steam's review score ("Very Positive") with positive and negative totals.

### Quick start

1. Enter a game as an app ID (`730`), a store URL or a name (`Stardew Valley`).
2. Choose how many reviews you want per game.
3. Click **Start** and export to JSON, CSV or Excel, or read the results through the API.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Games | App IDs, store URLs or game names |
| Max reviews per game | Stops each game at this many reviews |
| Sort by | Newest first, recently updated or most helpful |
| Review type | All, positive only or negative only |
| Review language | `all`, or a Steam language name such as `english` or `schinese` |
| Purchase type | Bought on Steam, key activations or both |
| Reviews written on or after | Date cut-off for newest-first runs |
| Include game details | Adds one game record per game |
| Store country for prices | Two-letter code, e.g. `us`, `gb`, `za` |
| Include off-topic review bombs | Steam hides these by default |

### Output example

```json
{
  "type": "review",
  "appId": 413150,
  "gameName": "Stardew Valley",
  "votedUp": true,
  "review": "Stardew is always a comfort game...",
### Pricing
You pay per result saved. Set a maximum cost per run and the scraper stops cleanly when it reaches it.
### Use cases
- Sentiment tracking after patches, sales or launches
- Competitor research before you build or price a game
- Finding the most common complaints in negative reviews
- Datasets for review analysis and AI training
