## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Hcareers Jobs Search Scraper

Extract public hospitality job listings from [Hcareers](https://www.hcareers.com/jobs) and optionally enrich them from each canonical job page. The Actor uses lightweight HTTP requests, verified `page` pagination, stable job IDs, deduplication, bounded concurrency, retries, and listing preservation when an individual detail page fails.

### Input

- `query`: required keywords such as `chef` or `hotel manager`.
- `location`: optional city, state, or region. Blank searches all locations.
- `maxItems`: 1-500 records.
- `maxPages`: 1-50 result pages.
- `includeDetails`: fetch public job pages when true.
- `maxDetailItems`: maximum detail requests, 0-100.
- `maxConcurrency`: concurrent detail requests, 1-10.
- `maxRetries`: retries for transient responses, 0-4.
- `requestTimeoutSecs`: per-request timeout, 10-120 seconds.
- `proxyConfiguration`: optional Apify/custom proxy. Direct access is the default.

```json
{ "query": "chef", "location": "", "maxItems": 10, "maxPages": 2, "includeDetails": true, "maxDetailItems": 10, "proxyConfiguration": { "useApifyProxy": false } }
```

### Output

Each dataset row includes the stable Hcareers job ID, listing fields, canonical URL, search and page provenance, detail verification flags, runtime environment, proxy usage, and timestamp. Successful detail requests can also add the public description, HTML, sections, requirements, benefits, employer profile, and application URL. Empty optional values are omitted rather than emitted as null or blank placeholders.

The `OUTPUT` key-value-store record reports listing/detail request counts, pages fetched, unique and pushed jobs, verified details, diagnostics, environment, proxy use, and final status. A search that produces no public records fails explicitly after writing this summary.

### Responsible use

Use public data responsibly, keep request limits bounded, and follow Hcareers terms and applicable laws. The Actor does not bypass authentication or collect private profile data.

# Actor input Schema

## `query` (type: `string`):

Job keywords, for example chef or hotel manager.

## `location` (type: `string`):

Optional city, state, or region. Leave blank for all locations.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum unique jobs to save.

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

Maximum result pages to request.

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch canonical job pages for public descriptions and structured fields.

## `maxDetailItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of job detail pages to request.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Maximum concurrent detail requests.

## `maxRetries` (type: `integer`):

Retries for transient HTTP and network failures.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Per-request timeout in seconds.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Direct requests are used by default; enable an available proxy group if the source blocks your runtime.
