## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## QuikrJobs Search Scraper

This Actor collects complete public job records from official QuikrJobs category and detail pages at `quikr.com`. Direct HTTPS is the default; optional Apify Proxy is supported for challenged cloud traffic.

### Modes

- `search`: one supported role/category and optional city.
- `searchMultiple`: several role/category queries in `queries`.
- `single`: one official detail URL in `startUrls`, or one numeric `jobId` discovered from the selected category.
- `multiple`: two or more official detail URLs in `startUrls`, or numeric `jobIds` discovered from the selected category.
- `startUrls`: official category and/or detail URLs.

Every saved row is fetched from its detail page and must have a numeric ID, title, location, an 80-character description, an official detail URL, a source-backed timestamp, and complete search provenance. Incomplete rows are skipped. When the site returns an access-denied or anti-bot response, the Actor writes a structured diagnostic, emits no fallback rows, and exits with a blocked status.

### Local commands

```bash
npm ci
npm run check
npm test
apify validate-schema
apify run --purge --input-file INPUT.json
npm run validate
```

The validator checks the actual files in `storage/datasets/default/`, strict schema compliance, required fields, official URLs, duplicate IDs/URLs, recursive null/blank/empty values, and the `RUN_SUMMARY` count. `RUN_SUMMARY` and `RUN_DIAGNOSTICS` are stored in the default key-value store.

### Reliability and privacy

Every network attempt, including retries, counts against `maxRequests`. Responses are streamed through an 8 MB cap, requests are paced, proxy sessions rotate when configured, and credentials are never logged. Only canonical detail pages whose numeric ID and path match the requested candidate are marked verified.

Email addresses and Indian phone numbers are recursively removed from visible text, listing snippets, JSON-LD, Apollo state, and optional raw output. Rows declare `contactDetailsRedacted: true`, inventory rank 229, and the actual local or Apify cloud execution environment.
