## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Workforce Australia Verified Jobs Scraper

This Actor reads public vacancy pages from [Workforce Australia](https://www.workforceaustralia.gov.au/) and emits only complete, detail-verified job records. It does not solve CAPTCHAs, bypass access controls, invent application links, or write diagnostic placeholders into the dataset.

### Modes

- `search`: searches the public vacancy listing with `query` and returns up to `maxItems` verified details.
- `single`: verifies one exact public detail URL in `jobUrl`.
- `multiple`: verifies exact public detail URLs in `jobUrls`, `urls`, or Apify-style `startUrls`.

Direct URLs must match `https://www.workforceaustralia.gov.au/individuals/jobs/details/<numeric-id>`. The scraper verifies the canonical vacancy ID, title when a listing title is available, and a description of at least 200 characters before writing a record.

Each URL is attempted once within `maxRequests`, `maxConcurrency`, and `requestTimeoutSecs` limits. Verified jobs are preserved when another request fails or the source returns fewer items than requested. The dataset contains jobs only; `OUTPUT_SUMMARY`, `SOURCE_METADATA`, and `RUN_DIAGNOSTICS` in the default key-value store describe the run.

### Local commands

```text
npm ci --ignore-scripts
npm test
npm run lint
apify validate-schema .actor/input_schema.json
apify run --purge --input-file INPUT.json
apify run --purge --input-file INPUT-single.json
apify run --purge --input-file INPUT-multiple.json
npm run validate:dataset
```

The checked-in `INPUT*.json` files are reproducible local examples using current public detail URLs. Optional fields such as salary, address, application questions, and application URL are omitted when the public page does not provide them.

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

Search discovers listings; single and multiple accept exact Workforce Australia detail URLs.

## `query` (type: `string`):

Public search phrase used in search mode.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of detail-verified records to return in search mode. A smaller set is preserved with diagnostics when the source yields fewer usable jobs.

## `maxRequests` (type: `integer`):

Hard crawl budget. Each URL is attempted once so the budget includes every network attempt.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of browser pages processed concurrently.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Maximum processing time per request in seconds.

## `jobUrl` (type: `string`):

Exact HTTPS URL under https://www.workforceaustralia.gov.au/individuals/jobs/details/<numeric-id>.

## `jobUrls` (type: `array`):

Exact public Workforce Australia detail URLs for single or multiple mode.

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Optional alias for jobUrls, accepted only in single or multiple mode.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional Apify-style list of objects with a public Workforce Australia detail URL.

## `headless` (type: `boolean`):

Keep enabled for normal local runs; disable only for visual troubleshooting.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional authorized Apify proxy configuration. No proxy is used by the reproducible local inputs.
