## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Steam Scraper — Games, Prices & Reviews (No Login)

Scrape the **Steam store**: search for games, pull **full app details** and collect **player reviews** — without logging in, without an API key and without a browser.

Every row is normalized, de-duplicated and carries provenance, ready for spreadsheets, databases, dashboards or LLM pipelines.

### What you get

- **Store search** — give search terms and get matching games, each enriched with full details.
- **Direct apps** — pass app IDs or store URLs to fetch specific games.
- **Full details** — price + discount, genres, categories, platforms, release date, developers/publishers, Metacritic, recommendation counts, achievements, screenshots, DLC, languages.
- **Player reviews** — cursor-paginated, with votes, weighted score, playtime, purchase type and per-app review summary.

All rows live in one dataset, tagged by `record_type` (`game` or `review`).

### Use cases

- **Game market research** — pricing, discounts, genre trends, release cadence.
- **Publisher & studio analytics** — reception and sentiment per title.
- **Review sentiment / AI datasets** — clean, structured review text with metadata.
- **Price tracking & deal monitoring** — watch discounts across regions.
- **Player/author profiling** — playtime and ownership for market studies.

### Input

```json
{
  "searchQueries": ["co-op roguelike", "city builder"],
  "appIds": [1145360],
  "includeReviews": true,
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 200,
  "reviewFilter": "recent",
  "country": "US"
}
```

### Pricing

**Pay per result.** You are charged only for rows delivered to your dataset (games and reviews), plus a small per-run fee. No subscription, no minimum.

### Notes

- Uses Steam's public store endpoints (`/search/results/`, `/api/appdetails`, `/appreviews/`); `store.steampowered.com/robots.txt` allows these paths.
- De-duplicated across searches and app IDs.
- Steam occasionally rate-limits high request volumes; the Actor paces its requests. Intended for research and analytics — use in line with Steam's terms.

### Sample output

```json
{"record_type": "game", "app_id": 1145360, "name": "Hades", "release_date": "Sep 17, 2020", "price_final": 2499, "price_currency": "USD", "metacritic_score": 93, "recommendations_total": 287151}
```
