## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Play & App Store Reviews Scraper + Insights

Get the reviews of any app from **Google Play and the Apple App Store in a single run**, plus a ready-made summary of **what users complain about**. No login, no API key, no proxies to configure.

### What you get

- **Reviews** from both stores in one consistent format: rating, title, text, date, app version, helpful votes, developer reply (Google Play), country.
- **An insights record per app**: rating distribution, sentiment score, rating trend over time, **top complaint themes** (bugs and crashes, pricing, ads, login, performance, support, UI, update regressions...), most repeated phrases in negative and positive reviews, and rating by app version and by month.
- Works with **English and Spanish** reviews out of the box.

### Who uses it

- **Product and app teams**: find out what is hurting your rating after a release (rating by version shows which update broke things).
- **Competitor research**: scrape a competitor's 1-2 star reviews and see the features and problems their users care about.
- **ASO and marketing**: pull real user wording for store listings and ads.
- **Agencies and analysts**: monitor several apps on a schedule and export to CSV, Excel or JSON.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `appUrls` | Google Play URLs or package names (`com.spotify.music`), App Store URLs or ids (`324684580`). Mix both stores freely. |
| `countries` | Store countries (`us`, `gb`, `es`, `mx`...). Reviews are collected per country. |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | Per app and country. |
| `minRating` / `maxRating` | e.g. 1 and 2 to collect only negative reviews. |
| `sinceDate` | Skip reviews older than `YYYY-MM-DD`. |
| `sort` | `newest`, `helpful`, or `rating` (Google Play only). |
| `includeReviews` / `includeInsights` | Choose whether you want raw reviews, the summary, or both. |

Example:

```json
{
  "appUrls": ["com.spotify.music", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify-music-and-podcasts/id324684580"],
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 300,
  "maxRating": 2
}
```

### Output

Review record:

```json
{
  "recordType": "review",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "store": "app-store",
  "country": "gb",
  "rating": 1,
  "date": "2026-09-30T14:21:07.000Z",
  "version": "9.1.86",
  "title": "Keeps logging me out",
  "text": "I put in the correct code and password and it says something went wrong...",
  "thumbsUp": 0
}
```

Insights record (abridged):

```json
{
  "recordType": "insights",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "reviewsAnalyzed": 105,
  "avgRating": 1.22,
  "sentimentScore": -0.79,
  "topComplaintThemes": [
    { "theme": "pricing-subscription", "mentions": 30, "share": 28.6, "example": "..." },
    { "theme": "login-account", "mentions": 23, "share": 21.9, "example": "..." }
  ],
  "ratingByVersion": [{ "version": "9.1.86", "reviews": 105, "avgRating": 1.22 }]
}
```

The insights are computed with fixed rules (no AI), so they are fast, cheap and identical on every run. `sentimentScore` goes from -1 (all negative) to +1 (all positive).

### Limits worth knowing

- **App Store**: Apple's public review feed exposes roughly the 500 most recent reviews per country. Add more countries to get more.
- **Google Play**: no such cap, but very large pulls take longer.
- Review text is returned in the language users wrote it. Theme detection covers English and Spanish.
- Reviews are public data published by users on the stores. Use the data in line with the stores' terms and applicable privacy law (the `userName` field is included, drop it if you do not need it).

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small price per review and per insights summary, so you only pay for what you extract. Check the pricing panel on this page for the current rates.
