## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Telegram Public Channel Scraper

Scrape messages from **public Telegram channels** with no login, no API key and no phone number. Get text, date, views, reactions, links, hashtags, forwards, media and channel info, filtered by date or keyword.

### What you get

- **Messages**: id, direct link, date, edited flag, author, full text, views, reactions, hashtags, external links, forwarded-from, reply link, photos, video flag, document name, poll question and link preview.
- **Channel info**: title, description, verified flag, subscribers and counts of photos, videos, files and links.
- **Date filter**: only messages since a given day. Scraping stops as soon as it reaches older ones, so you only pay for what you need.
- **Keyword filter**: search inside each channel (Telegram runs the search), so you get only relevant posts.

### Who uses it

- **Media and brand monitoring**: watch what public channels say about a company, token or topic.
- **Research and OSINT**: archive public channels and track view counts over time.
- **Lead and market research**: find the links, offers and announcements a niche shares.
- **Data teams and AI**: build datasets of public posts per channel on a schedule.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `channels` | Usernames or links: `durov`, `@durov`, `https://t.me/durov`. |
| `maxMessagesPerChannel` | Newest first. |
| `sinceDate` | `YYYY-MM-DD`. |
| `searchQuery` | Optional keyword or phrase. |
| `includeChannelInfo` | One info record per channel. |

```json
{ "channels": ["durov", "telegram"], "maxMessagesPerChannel": 200, "sinceDate": "2026-09-01", "searchQuery": "update" }
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "recordType": "message",
  "channel": "durov",
  "messageId": 548,
  "url": "https://t.me/durov/548",
  "date": "2026-09-11T16:04:02+00:00",
  "text": "Telegram has become the sponsor of Codeforces...",
  "views": 1860000,
  "links": ["https://codeforces.com/blog/entry/156620"],
  "reactions": [{ "emoji": null, "customEmojiId": "5265077361648368841", "paid": false, "count": 132000 }]
}
```

### Limits worth knowing

- Works only with **public channels that have the web preview enabled** (the ones you can open at `t.me/s/name`). Private channels, groups and channels without web preview are skipped with a warning.
- Custom emoji reactions are returned by id because Telegram does not expose them as characters.
- Public posts only. Use the data in line with Telegram's terms and applicable privacy law.

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small price per message and per channel info record. See the pricing panel on this page.

# Actor input Schema

## `channels` (type: `array`):

Channel usernames or links, e.g. durov, @durov or https://t.me/durov. Only public channels with web preview work.

## `maxMessagesPerChannel` (type: `integer`):

Newest messages first. 20 messages are read per page request.

## `sinceDate` (type: `string`):

YYYY-MM-DD. Older messages are skipped and scraping stops there.

## `searchQuery` (type: `string`):

Optional. Only return messages containing this word or phrase (search runs on Telegram's side, inside each channel).

## `includeChannelInfo` (type: `boolean`):

Add one record per channel with title, description, subscribers and media counts.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "channels": [
    "durov"
  ],
  "maxMessagesPerChannel": 100,
  "includeChannelInfo": true
}
```
