Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Sitejabber Reviews Scraper

Extract customer reviews for any business listed on [Sitejabber](https://www.sitejabber.com) (now served from `smartcustomer.com`) — ratings, headlines, full review text, reviewer names and profile links, dates and permalinks — plus the business-level aggregate rating.

No login, no cookies, no browser. One HTTP request per 20 reviews.

### What you get

Every review becomes one row in the default dataset:

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `businessName` / `businessUrl` / `website` | The business you asked for |
| `aggregateRating` / `totalReviewsReported` | Sitejabber's own average score and total review count for that business |
| `reviewId` | Stable review id (from the review permalink anchor) |
| `rating` | 1–5 stars for this review |
| `headline` / `reviewBody` | Review title and full text |
| `authorName` / `authorUrl` / `location` | Who wrote it |
| `datePublished` | Review date, normalised to `YYYY-MM-DD` |
| `reviewUrl` | Direct permalink |
| `scrapedAt` / `source` | Provenance |

Results export to JSON, CSV or Excel straight from the dataset tab.

### Input

- **Businesses to scrape** — one per line. Any of these work:
  - `amazon.com`
  - `https://www.amazon.com/`
- **Max reviews per business** — default 100. Sitejabber returns 20 reviews per page.
- **Max pages per business** — default 10. A hard safety cap so a business with 50,000 reviews can't run up an unexpected bill.
- **Review order** — newest or oldest first.
- **Delay between page requests** — default 1200 ms.

### Pricing

Pay per delivered review. You are only charged for rows that actually made it into your dataset — if a page fails, that page is not billed.

### Typical uses

- Brand and marketplace reputation monitoring
- Competitor review benchmarking on a shared scale
- Feeding review text into sentiment or topic models
- Tracking how a rating moves over time for a specific business

### Notes

- Sitejabber publishes reviews as structured `schema.org` JSON-LD, which this Actor reads first. A second, independent HTML parser acts as a fallback, so a markup change degrades instead of breaking.
- Only publicly visible reviews are read. There is no rate-limit bypass and no proxy rotation; a polite delay is applied between page requests.
- This Actor is not affiliated with Sitejabber or SmartCustomer.

# Actor input Schema

## `businesses` (type: `array`):

One business per line. Accepts a domain (amazon.com), a full website URL, or a full Sitejabber review URL (https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/amazon.com).

## `maxReviewsPerBusiness` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many reviews per business. Sitejabber serves 20 reviews per page.

## `maxPagesPerBusiness` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap on page requests per business. Protects you from a runaway bill on businesses with tens of thousands of reviews.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Which order Sitejabber returns reviews in.

## `requestDelayMs` (type: `integer`):

Politeness delay. Raise it if you hit rate limiting.

## `includeReviewBody` (type: `boolean`):

Uncheck to keep only ratings, headlines and dates (smaller dataset).
