## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Maps Place Details by URL

Retrieve one public business or landmark's basic details from an exact Google Maps place URL. This unofficial Actor is not affiliated with Google.

### When to use it

Use this Google Maps place details scraper when you already have an exact place URL and need a small, structured snapshot for a venue directory, map link audit or business record. It resolves one place ID per run; it does not discover places by keyword or location.

### Input

Supply one full `https://www.google.com/maps/place/...` URL containing a `!1s0x...:0x...` feature ID. Short links, CID-only links, search URLs, residential places, person entries and URLs without an exact ID fail validation.

### Output

A successful run emits exactly one identity-checked row: source URL, feature ID, name, public address, category, coordinates, retrieval time and available rating metadata. `ratingAvailable=false` means `rating=0` is a missing-data sentinel, not a zero-star score. `reviewCount` is omitted when the source does not supply it; a present zero is a verified zero from the source. The example row is illustrative; the live source must be verified in the private canary. No row is emitted when source identity or required fields are missing.

### Pricing

The price is $0.0024 per usable `place-details-created` row. This primary event is charged once with the one validated dataset row. Invalid URLs, source failures and zero-row runs have no event charge.

### Limits

One exact place URL per run and at most two GET requests: first `www.google.com/robots.txt`, then `/maps/preview/place` only if the current robots rules allow that exact URL. A missing, unreadable or denying robots response stops the run before place retrieval. The robots response cap is 1 MiB, the place response cap is 2 MiB, each HTTP timeout is 30 seconds and the run budget is 90 seconds. The input URL is validated locally and never fetched as an arbitrary destination. No search, review pagination, photos, browser rendering, residential proxy, automatic retries or persistent cache. Google may change or restrict its unofficial web endpoint; 403/consent/CAPTCHA, 429, timeout, malformed detail data and ID mismatch fail explicitly.

### Privacy

Only public business or landmark level details are retained. Residences and personal entries are rejected; reviewer identities, review text, photos, phone numbers, emails, personal sites, cookies and session data are excluded. Google Maps is the cited source and does not endorse this Actor.
