## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends RSS — Current Topics (US, JP, GB)

Refresh a content research shortlist with the current topics Google publishes in its RSS feed for the United States, Japan or United Kingdom. Each row gives one source topic, its approximate traffic label and publication time. The feed is a limited current snapshot, typically 10 entries; it does not cover every Trending Now result.

### Input

Country is optional (US by default); JP and GB are also supported. maxItems is 1–10, default 10. Preserve source feed order; position is not a search-volume rank. No arbitrary URL, keyword query, date, category, language override or historical backfill. Source topic language follows the selected country.

### Output

Each row contains country, topic, approximate traffic label and numeric floor, publishedAt in UTC, ageMinutes, sourceFeedPosition, feedItemCount, sourceUrl, Google Trends attribution and fetchedAt. Traffic is an approximate lower-bound label from the source, not an exact search count or Google Ads volume. publishedAt is the RSS publication timestamp, not verified trend-start time. Source order is preserved; no synthetic popularity score is added. News articles, headlines, descriptions, images and individual profiles are excluded.

### Pricing

$0.0012 for each delivered trend-topic-created row, no start or secondary charge. Ten delivered topics cost $0.012. Remaining event budget and maxItems limit delivery. A source error before delivery has no event charge; rows delivered before a later dataset write failure remain billable.

### Limits and errors

Two HTTP requests maximum (robots and one feed), 256 MB, 180-second outer limit, 10-second HTTP timeout, 1-second inter-request spacing, no retry, proxy, browser or login. Feed response capped at 512 KiB and 100 source entries; robots at 256 KiB. XML DTD/entities are rejected. Country/channel/item-link mismatch or missing/conflicting Atom self-link, duplicate or malformed topics, malformed traffic/date, empty feed, redirect, block, rate limit and timeout fail explicitly. Validate the full received feed before output; do not invent an empty success or silently skip broken entries. Dynamic feeds can change between runs.

### Privacy and attribution

Data source: Google Trends (https://trends.google.com/). Google's official Trending Now page offers RSS export. Reuse is subject to Google's terms and attribution requirements. Runtime respects current robots; no Explore pages or related news URLs are fetched. Unofficial independent tool, not affiliated with Google. The feed's public search-query text may refer to public people or events; no person-level data is inferred or enriched.

# Actor input Schema

## `country` (type: `string`):

Choose one tested country RSS feed. US, JP and GB are supported. This selects source geography; topics retain their source language.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Return the first 1–10 valid topics in source feed order, bounded by the remaining event budget. The feed is a limited current snapshot, not a complete ranking.

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("jpmarketdata/google-trends-rss-topic-snapshot").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
