## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## PistonHeads UK Vehicle Asking-Price Comps

Get a complete bounded PistonHeads cohort for an exact UK used-car make and model. A specialist dealer can compare current asking-price median with 20 linked lower-priced examples before sourcing or repricing a vehicle. Schedule the same cohort and archive `cohortKey` and `observedAt` snapshots. This is unofficial asking-price observation, not sold-price valuation, vehicle inspection, dealer margin or an alert service.

### Input

Enter 1–3 `models` objects with numeric `makeId` and `modelId` copied from the same public `/buy/search?make-id=...&model-id=...` URL. Example: `{"models":[{"makeId":43,"modelId":519,"yearMin":1998,"yearMax":2005}]}` screens Porsche 911 Carrera \[996]. Optional year range and mileage ceiling narrow the source cohort. Year bounds must be ordered. Duplicate cohorts are fetched and billed once. Arbitrary URLs, postcodes, seller IDs and account data are not accepted.

### Output

One row per complete exact cohort gives source total, unique retrieved count, qualified and excluded counts, GBP asking-price median/range, and up to 20 lowest-priced linked listings with year and mileage. All qualified records contribute to the statistics. `sourceUrl` links to the public make/model search entrypoint; optional year and mileage filters are applied by GraphQL and shown in separate row fields because the HTML URL ignores those query parameters. Low asking price does not mean a bargain. POA, auction, non-GBP and incomplete records are excluded. Seller names, contact details, descriptions and images are never requested. `observedAt` is acquisition time, not verified price-change time. A true source total of zero returns `no_listings` with omitted price fields. Above 500 results, narrow filters and rerun; incomplete, blocked, malformed or timed-out acquisition fails before output or charge.

### Pricing

One complete cohort row costs $0.02 via `cohort-comps-created`, including an evidenced zero. One to three distinct cohorts cost $0.02–$0.06; no per-car event or actor-specific free trial.

### Limits

256 MB, no paid API, proxy or browser. Fifty adverts per page, up to ten pages and 500 adverts per cohort; at most 31 requests including robots. Requests are paced, response capped and timeout at 20 seconds. No login, seller contact or transactions.

### Privacy

Seller names, contact details, descriptions and images are never requested or emitted.

### Source terms

PistonHeads terms restrict commercial scraping and redistribution; the dated scout quotes the clause and records DR-0007. Output is limited to factual fields and source links. Independent review, fresh source checks and a private product canary are required before release.

# Actor input Schema

## `models` (type: `array`):

One to three PistonHeads make/model ID pairs copied from public /buy/search URLs. Optional year and mileage filters narrow cohorts. Each distinct complete cohort is one billable result.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "models": [
    {
      "makeId": 43,
      "modelId": 519
    }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Asking-price statistics and linked lower-priced comparables, with exact coverage counts.
