## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## USAspending New Federal Contract Awards

Export bounded newly awarded U.S. federal contracts for up to three procurement topics. Government contractors can schedule the same searches and compare their own snapshots of new recipients and agencies. Independent tool; not affiliated with the U.S. government.

### Input

`queries` accepts one to three topic phrases, default `cybersecurity` and `medical supplies`; `lookbackDays` is 7–90, default 30; `maxItemsPerQuery` is 1–50, default 10. The official API `new_awards_only` filter selects base transactions in the date window. It does not mean the award has no later modification.

### Output

One row per distinct USAspending award key, with public award ID, recipient organization, awarding agency, current whole-award amount in USD, award type, performance start date, last modification time, matched topics, source rank, date window, source link and truncation flag. The amount is not spending within the selected period. The Actor takes eligible rows from the first 100 source-ranked results per topic, so it is a bounded sample. DoD/USACE reporting can be delayed 90 days; do not treat recent zero as proof that no award exists.

### Pricing

$0.001 per delivered distinct `award-delivered` row on FREE; no start, search or secondary event. At most 20 default rows ($0.020) or 150 maximum rows ($0.150). Failed, skipped and duplicate rows are not charged.

### Limits and provenance

Official anonymous USAspending API POST only; no website fetch, proxy or paid API. Runtime checks API-origin robots before requests. At most three source POSTs plus robots, 120 seconds and 256 MB. A required-query failure aborts before output or charge; all-zero also fails. Award links provide source attribution. Official USAspending About/Licensing permits commercial data reuse subject to its D\&B limitation. The new-awards base-date filter excludes the pre-2022 base-award notices identified by GSA; it does not prove all later organization names are free of D\&B origin. No USAspending website pages are fetched. Cite USAspending.gov, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Fiscal Service; each row includes an award source link.

### Privacy

Only factual public award and organization fields are exported. Blank, redacted, contact-like or names without a recognized organization marker are skipped and never charged; all-skipped fails. A trade name could still identify a sole proprietor. UEI/DUNS, addresses, contacts, officers, compensation and raw descriptions are omitted.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One to three phrases searched separately against federal contract awards; matching awards are deduplicated.

## `lookbackDays` (type: `integer`):

Select new contract awards whose base transaction date is in the trailing 7–90 days. This is not the later modification date or period spending.

## `maxItemsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Take 1–50 eligible awards from the first 100 source-ranked search results per topic; not an exhaustive search.

});

// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "queries": [
        "cybersecurity",
        "medical supplies"
    ]
};

// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("jpmarketdata/usaspending-new-federal-contract-awards").call(input);

// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
