## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bluesky Scraper: Posts, Profiles, Followers

Scrape **Bluesky** posts, user profiles, followers, following lists, user search results and full reply threads. It uses Bluesky's official open API (the AT Protocol), so runs are fast, cheap and don't break when the website changes. **No login is needed** for every mode except keyword post search.

### What you can scrape

| Mode | Input | You get |
|------|-------|---------|
| Posts from users | handles or profile URLs | Every post with text, likes, reposts, replies, quotes, hashtags, links, images and video |
| User profiles | handles or profile URLs | Bio, follower and post counts, avatar, plus **emails and links found in the bio** |
| Followers of users | handles | Each follower's full profile |
| Accounts users follow | handles | Each followed account's full profile |
| Search users by keyword | keywords | Matching profiles (great for finding creators, journalists or companies in a niche) |
| Replies to posts | post URLs | The whole reply tree with each reply's author and engagement |
| Search posts by keyword or hashtag | keywords, `#hashtags` | Matching posts, newest or top. Needs your free Bluesky app password (see below) |

### What people use it for

- **Brand and competitor monitoring:** track what's said about a product, a hashtag or a competitor.
- **Lead generation:** search users by niche keywords and pull emails and websites from their bios.
- **Influencer research:** compare follower counts and engagement across accounts.
- **Audience analysis:** export the followers of any account.
- **Research and journalism:** archive a user's posts or a whole conversation thread.

### Input example

```json
{
  "mode": "userPosts",
  "handles": ["bsky.app", "https://bsky.app/profile/jay.bsky.team"],
  "since": "2026-09-01",
  "includeReplies": false,
  "maxItems": 500
}
```

Set **Max results** to cap how much you pay for.

### Output example (post)

```json
{
  "uri": "at://did:plc:z72i7hdynmk6r22z27h6tvur/app.bsky.feed.post/3mwolmfws5k2r",
  "quoteCount": 17,
  "languages": ["en"],
  "hashtags": null,
  "links": null,
  "images": null,
  "isReply": false,
  "isRepost": false
}
```

### Output example (profile)

```json
{
  "did": "did:plc:z72i7hdynmk6r22z27h6tvur",
  "handle": "bsky.app",
  "displayName": "Bluesky",
  "url": "https://bsky.app/profile/bsky.app",
  "followersCount": 35150220,
  "followsCount": 15,
  "postsCount": 865,
  "emails": ["support@bsky.app"],
  "links": null
}
```

### Searching posts by keyword

Bluesky only lets logged-in accounts search posts. To use this mode, create a free **app password** in Bluesky (Settings > Privacy and security > App passwords) and enter it together with your handle. App passwords can only read and post, can't change your account, and you can revoke them at any time. The password is stored as a secret input and only used to log in to Bluesky.

### How to use it

1. Click **Try for free** (new Apify accounts get monthly free credit).
2. Fill in the input, for example to get everyone who follows a competitor's Bluesky account.
3. Click **Start** and download the results as Excel, CSV, JSON or HTML, or open them in Google Sheets.

### How much does it cost?

You pay only for results: **$1.5 per 1,000 Bluesky posts and profiles** (about $0.15 for 100), plus a fraction of a cent per run. Set **Max results** to cap your spend. Apify's free plan credit covers a lot of test runs.

### Integrations and API

Use it as a Bluesky API export tool with no coding. Run it on a schedule and send new results to Google Sheets, Slack, email, Zapier, Make, n8n or your own webhook, or call it from any language through the Apify API. It also works as a tool for AI agents through Apify's MCP server.

### FAQ

**Do I need proxies?** No. The official API is open and doesn't block cloud servers.

**Is this allowed?** It only reads public data through Bluesky's documented public API.

**Why do some followers show `handle.invalid`?** That's how Bluesky shows accounts whose domain handle no longer verifies. Their DID is still included.
