# Brazilian Space Program Missions Scraper (AEB) (`jungle_synthesizer/aeb-programa-espacial-brasileiro-missoes-scraper`) Actor

Scrapes AEB's authoritative programme pages for active and historical Brazilian space missions — CBERS, Amazonia-1, SCD, SARA, VLM-1 and more — normalising launch date, orbit, partner agencies, and payload data into a structured dataset.

## Pricing

from $1.60 / 1,000 record scrapeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Brazilian Space Program Missions Scraper (AEB)

Scrapes the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB — Agência Espacial Brasileira) official programme pages for active and historical Brazilian space missions. Extracts structured mission records covering satellites, Earth observation platforms, communications satellites, and launch vehicles.

### What this actor does

Crawls two authoritative AEB pages on `www.gov.br`:

- `/acoes-e-programas/aplicacoes-espaciais/satelites/satelites` — satellite missions (CBERS series, Amazonia-1, SCD-1/2, SGDC, Serpens)
- `/acoes-e-programas/aplicacoes-espaciais/transporte-espacial` — launch vehicle programme (VLM-1)

Each page is parsed using custom cheerio extraction that identifies mission blocks from `<h2>` headings and `<p><strong>` patterns in AEB's Plone CMS richtext tiles. Regex-based extractors normalise launch date, launch vehicle, launch site, orbit type, partner agencies, and operational status.

### Output dataset fields

| Field | Description |
|-------|-------------|
| `mission_name` | Mission name (e.g. CBERS-4A, Amazonia-1, SGDC) |
| `mission_type` | `satellite_eo`, `satellite_comms`, `launcher`, or `scientific_payload` |
| `status` | `operational`, `in_development`, `planned`, or `decommissioned` |
| `launch_date` | Launch date in ISO format (YYYY-MM or YYYY-MM-DD) |
| `launch_vehicle` | Launch vehicle name (e.g. CZ-4B, PSLV, VLM-1) |
| `launch_site` | Launch site full name |
| `partner_agencies` | Comma-separated partner agencies (CNSA, ISRO, INPE, etc.) |
| `mission_summary` | Full mission description from AEB page (up to 1200 chars) |
| `orbit_type` | `SSO`, `GEO`, `LEO`, or `suborbital` |
| `orbital_altitude_km` | Orbital altitude in km (when disclosed) |
| `inclination_deg` | Orbital inclination in degrees (when disclosed) |
| `lifespan_years` | Design lifespan in years (when disclosed) |
| `cost_brl` | Mission cost in BRL (when publicly disclosed) |
| `lead_organization` | Lead organisation (AEB or INPE) |
| `aeb_canonical_url` | Source AEB page URL |
| `announcements` | Related news (when available) |
| `international_agreement_refs` | International agreement references (when available) |

### Input

| Parameter | Type | Description |
|-----------|------|-------------|
| `maxItems` | integer | Maximum mission records to return. Default: 10. Leave empty for all. |

### Example output

```json
{
  "mission_name": "Satélites sino-brasileiros de recursos terrestres (CBERS)",
  "mission_type": "satellite_eo",
  "status": "operational",
  "launch_date": "2014-12",
  "launch_vehicle": "CZ-4B (Long March 4B)",
  "launch_site": "Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, China",
  "partner_agencies": "CNSA, INPE",
  "orbit_type": "SSO",
  "aeb_canonical_url": "https://www.gov.br/aeb/pt-br/acoes-e-programas/aplicacoes-espaciais/satelites/satelites"
}
```

### Coverage

Approximately 4–8 mission records depending on the current state of AEB's programme pages:

- **SCD-1 / SCD-2** — Data Collection Satellites (1993–present)
- **CBERS series** — China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellites (CBERS-1 through CBERS-4A)
- **Amazonia-1** — Earth observation satellite launched 2021
- **SGDC** — Geostationary Defence and Strategic Communications Satellite

### Notes

- Source: Official AEB pages on `www.gov.br` (Plone CMS, public access)
- No proxy required — pages are publicly accessible
- Content is in Brazilian Portuguese; mission descriptions are returned as-is
