## Pricing

from $2.40 / 1,000 record scrapeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## G2 Software Review & Ratings Scraper

Scrape software product and vendor data from [G2](https://www.g2.com), the software review platform sales teams, investors, and product managers check before a purchase decision. Returns product ratings, review counts, vendor names, pricing signals, supported languages, company-size fit, and top-rated alternatives for any G2 category.

***

### G2 Reviews Scraper Features

- Extracts ratings and review counts for every product in a G2 category
- Returns the category and subcategory G2 itself assigns each product — not a guess
- Collects company-size fit (Small-Business, Mid-Market, Enterprise) from real reviewer data
- Surfaces top-rated alternatives for competitive-set research
- Walks G2's full category directory when no category filter is given, or scopes to one category by name

***

### Who Uses G2 Product Data?

- **Sales & BD teams** — build prospect lists scored by category and rating, not cold-outreach guesswork
- **VCs and analysts** — track competitive positioning and market share signals across a software category
- **Product managers** — benchmark a product's rating and alternatives against the category leaders
- **Market researchers** — size a software category by product count, vendor, and review volume

***

### How G2 Reviews Scraper Works

1. Point it at a category (`"CRM Software"`) or leave it blank to start from G2's full category directory
2. It walks the category's product listing, page by page, collecting every product link
3. Each product page is read for its rating, review count, vendor, and the other fields below
4. Records stream to your dataset as they're collected, up to `maxItems`

***

### Input

```json
{
  "category": "CRM Software",
  "maxItems": 50
}
```

| Field      | Type    | Default  | Description |
|------------|---------|----------|-------------|
| `category` | String | *(none)* | G2 category name (`"CRM Software"`) or URL slug (`"crm"`). Leave blank to crawl across all of G2's 2,000+ categories, starting from the category directory. |
| `maxItems` | Integer | `10`     | Maximum number of product records to return. |

| `g2_rating`           | Number | Aggregate star rating out of 5.                                                      |
| `review_count` | Number | Number of reviews the rating is based on. |
| `description`         | String | G2's summary description for the product.                                            |
| `company_size_fit`    | Array  | Reviewer company-size segments represented (Small-Business, Mid-Market, Enterprise). |
| `languages_supported` | Array | Languages the product supports, as listed by the vendor. |
| `top_alternatives`    | Array  | Other products G2 surfaces as top-rated alternatives.                                |
| `product_url`         | String | Canonical G2 URL for the product's review page.                                      |

Some fields are sparse by nature — a low-review product may not have `company_size_fit` data yet, and `languages_supported`/`top_alternatives` depend on what the vendor and G2's own algorithm have populated for that listing.

### FAQ

#### Does this need a G2 account?

No. Runs against G2's public category and product pages.

#### Can I scrape a specific category only?

Yes — set `category` to the category's display name (`"CRM Software"`) or its URL slug (`"crm"`). Leave it blank to walk the full category directory instead.

#### Why is `g2_rating` or `review_count` sometimes missing?

A product with very few or no reviews doesn't carry a rating widget yet. The field comes back `null` rather than a guessed value.

#### Does it return individual review text?

No — this actor returns product-level aggregate data (rating, review count, vendor, category, alternatives), not individual review content.

### Need More Features?

Have a use case this doesn't cover? [Open an issue](https://console.apify.com/actors) or reach out through the actor's contact field on your next run.

### Why Use G2 Reviews Scraper?

- **Category-aware by default** — every record carries the category and subcategory G2 itself assigns, so you can segment results without a second lookup.
- **Built for competitive research** — top-rated alternatives ship on every record, not as a separate call.
- **Scales from one category to the whole catalogue** — the same input shape handles a 50-item competitive scan or a full-directory pull.
